This is fun. It'll never be considered a classic, but it's great to have a series I can kick back to and enjoy.

Altair reminds me of Vergil from Devil May Cry...similar nihlistic emo rooted motivations and the sword magic is almost spot on Summoned Swords.

Personally, this episode was a bit of a disappointment for me. It felt rough and disjointed, particularly because Souta chose to hide his information on Altair.

Well, to be fair, he wasn't really given a chance to digest the information before she came in, and she had to leave too soon. Second, right now he has nothing really to tell, he knows her creator is dead and doesn't know what his connection means.

But I do agree, if he doesn't tell them sooner rather than later it would be disappointing. Don't need teen angst here. If the show keeps him apart from the others that would be fine.

Sharkteeth is pure chaotic evil; she's the Heath Ledger's Joker of this world, and only does anything if she considers it "fun." Anything she does, including killing, is because she takes personal pleasure out of it. Her powers are mild form of reality warping in that they appear to rely upon magical gaslighting in order to work--essentially getting the accuser to lie or deny their own logic, and then using it as part of a hex to kill them.

She's definitely one to watch, if only because she's vastly more dangerous than any of the other characters, who can at least be reasoned with to varying degrees.

Actually, so far she is lawful evil, in that she has so far been shown following certain rules - old guy seems more of the "I kill anything that gets in my way". And I really hope that the writers of this show do something twisted like have her actually be GOOD, but just from a really really sick world where values are reversed. That would be creative, and imagine the fun they could have with the creator who created that world - paging Mr. Overlord.

Awesome episode this week! I disliked the magical girl at first but she redeemed herself this episode~ It is definitely underrated with its current score.

I was nothing until the moment I met you.

I was sure that the Magical girl would be the first to die (not this episode, but I mean, in the show). After this episode, however, I get a feeling that our Ms.Knight will be the first one to die.

okay time to put an elitist mask and shittalk this anime:

- I've seen better action animation in Hataraku Maou-sama!, A COMEDY SHOW! Effect effect effect is fine but please balance it with sophisticated martial arts human motion animation, too!

- WTF I don't remember signing up for 1st semester's bullshit liberal logic class of philosophy uni study! Please balance "ideology" with "action"!
Seeing the new girl witty word trap that probably has something to do with her ability is nice, but then fcking Rem has to join in on the ideology class, too! WTF keep the talk short!

- Speaking of Rem, please be fair on the distribution of dialogues!
Meteora is smart, but you don't really have to make Minase Inori teach politic and ideology class in about 40% of the anime. It could only serve as an extra fan-service to her hardcore fans... which is a waste bcs they're going to fanboy over her and watch the anime anyway as long as she is still main.

- Stop insulting other works by calling them "meaningless" and "doesn't have a strong philosophical base" and "are made just for fun" when your own work is also just a fcking copy-paste-edit-so-it-fits of Civil War!

When Meteora stated that the "gods" are not all-powerful, that got me thinking. In the real world, that may be true that they're not omnipotent, but in the fictional world of their creations, they are. Now consider this...we all know about rule 34; but what if an ero-illustrator also drew one of their mainstream creations, in a more naughtier setting, i.e. Fate/Stay Night--a hugely popular mainstream franchise, that started off as what's essentially porn. Would all of those "extra" character settings also manifest? I'm guessing it would...if Re:creators had a different rating.

As for this episode, it was nice to see Mamika actually use her brain for once and think for herself.

Though the series is definitely becoming better in the short-term. The characterization of the creations is lacking. Celestia was originally introduced as a social stratification of a princess and warrior parody, (which I believe was intended) was completely dismantled. Instead of having this Saber-esque character we have a 2 dimensional 'add-on' who's role at this point in time is to fight other creations and act amazed at a 5S when she comes from a world where they utilise mechas and magic.

The new character became forcefully irrelevant as she moved to watching the fight from the sideline. The tension she posed against Alice was ruined.

IMO it would've been much better to introduce an extremely powerful character who's ideology contradicts Alice's instead of using Celestia since she herself comes from a world which is a hell-hole. At least then I'd be hyped to see them all band together against a common foe and get beaten, allowing for shifts in alliances and better characterization. The psycho could still introduced and a better introduction would've been done at the end of episode 5, at least we'd get more characterization.

If put in the exact same situation, in the same scenario, I think Aliceteria and Saber's actions and ideals would be pretty much identical. Saber is also incredibly naive and dense, and they both exhibit and a stammering lack when it comes to the ability to talk things out and reason with their opponents. Thinking that their personal ideals and definition of justice are absolute and infallible.

Saber isn't naive nor dense. The only character who truly feels like her is Celestia. To understand Saber fundamentally and her role in F/Z you'd have to imagine her as Kiritsugu's counterpart and in a sense a mental introspection of Kiritsugu. Furthermore Saber follows the ideals of a king being a servant to both fate and country; unlike Alice who is just some dumbass who can't accept the fact that she lives in the normal.

I wouldn't really agree about their personal ideals or their sense of justice. Though I can understand what made you come to the conclusion, they're both wanting to rewrite history though it's not exactly right.

Saber is a character, who if you've read the VNs frankly doesn't care about anything other than her desire to retrieve her former kingdom's glory. Furthermore her character becomes over-encumbered by hubris which she comes to later regret especially when she's summoned by Shirou. Saber has a chivalry code.

Alice on the other hand is some mentally-limited meathead who tries painfully to act like a 'knight' yet gives into her aggressive tendencies to a girl in a sailor-dress.

While I agree with most of your analysis, a few thoughts.

1. Having them all face (and get trounced by) Magane would have been very cliche, and would largely have defeated the purpose of Magane in the first place as a counterweight to Yuuya; both of them are two sides of the same coin.

2. Alice isn't so much a meathead as she is fundamentally limited by the logic of her world and her writer. In this regard, she and Mamika were very much identical. The difference is that Mamika is growing beyond her original scope, and coming to understand herself more through her interactions with the world, whereas Alice has become consumed by her vision of purpose and justice. To this end of hers, any means will suffice.

3. Magane isn't really forcefully irrelevant: she enjoys causing chaos and enjoys killing, so from her perspective having them duke it out while she gets to sit back and watch (and also high-tail it if necessary) suits her ends entirely.

I dunno why I'm surprised that this new girl is practically a yangire.....My goodness she's scary lol (And she has a way with words too/is some kind of alchemist it seems)

The clash of ideals (Especially from Alicetaria's point of view) in this episode was nice though and I enjoyed the battle portions of this episode as well but next week seems like when things will really go down

I'm glad that the magical girl is staying true to her ideals regardless of what was said in this episode though, and I think it's nice that she decided to protect Meteora too....I feel like she's gonna change sides but also I feel like maybe she'll end up dying (Probably from the yangire girl)

Great episode overall but I wanna know more about the MC and his connection to suicide girl and Military Girl

Second all of this, Exactly my thoughts on the episode.
The magical girl deciding to protect Meteora was my favorite part of the episode. I'm glad she stayed true to her roots. :)

The new girl definitely has a way of twisting words, she's pretty interesting to watch with her little streak of madness. xD

Looks like they chose to keep us in the dark about the whole Etude thing but I'm looking forward to those reveals in future episodes.
..a clash of ideologies morals are what ruined the episode

BRUHHHH favourite episode to date. alice's whole thing disappointed me because i think she was acting real dumb (and in general her kind of character always get undone by their emotions which is really stupid in my opinion but that's another conversation entirely), but i guess it was needed to further progress or whatever...

MAMIKA.
WHAT A BABE.
A QUEEN.
ICONIC.
LEGENDARY.

all that aside, shark teeth isn't what i was expecting but she's still real fucking cool in her own right. i really like her, she seems like a well-written villain so far.

also the fighting in this episode was fucking badass

overall i'm just really disappointed that more people aren't giving this a chance, and that it has a low score. i know everyone has different opinions but i really think this show deserves to break the 8 threshold at the very least, dang...

I think it too, I call Alice "Saber" (both are knights and lawful good). That yangire girl (chaotic evil) remembers me "Genocider Syo" from Danganronpa, but I think she's inspired in other show too. The Mahou Shoujo (neutral good) is a generic mahou shoujo, can be any magical girl, I call her "Madoka". Celestia (lawful neutral) remembers me Emilia from Hataraku Maou-sama, but it's a completely different show. Rui (chaotic good) is from a random mecha anime, can be a Gundam character.

Character alignment:

I love how we can't really have a say on what is the "good" side, I mean sure the anime has made it clear that this side seems to be bad because they teamed up with the military princess, while this side seems to be good since they've teamed up with the Japanese government. I mean really, both side think their doing the right thing, especially Alicetelia whom has a chaotic good personality (based on how others see her, especially the new character Makagami) but believes herself to be lawful good since that's what's in her character description and so that's what she is. Mamika on the other hand, she really surprised me. It's like she's beginning to learn about the world around her and not just rely on her own knowledge of how things work. In her first appearance, she was shocked and confused to see so much blood and destruction. She didn't even realize that she had been wreaking havoc. From a lawful good persona, she developed a neutral good character for herself, and that's amazing considering all the creations already have their own character description which also links to their sense of justice and ideals, I mean just look at Alicetalia lol

Not really. She's entirely one dimensional in the sense that she exists to do one thing: kill, and make others suffer for her own pleasure. She has no objective other than this. Anything else she does is to lure others into that trap. She's just as twisted as Heath Ledger's Joker, but her menace is so transparent that it ruins what would otherwise be a good character. She's a poorly written version of him, with twice the menace, ten times the power, and none of the skill. She's so obviously malicious and evil that she's not really worth following. The only interesting part will be in seeing how fast she'll be arrested, killed, or otherwise stuffed back into whatever story she came from.

Not really. Consider that Magane's entire purpose there was to bait Aliceteria into attacking her so that Magane could kill Aliceteria with her own ability.

Magane would be more interesting if she were like Dexter (of the eponymous series), where there was a genuine attempt to fit in and channel his impulse to kill towards productive ends. Magane Chikujoin has none of those qualities. She's raw and barely restrained, killing for pleasure and because she can. Her comparison holds upon initial inspection (killing is still killing), but there is a vast gulf morally between killing in self defense or killing an armed opponent in wartime and killing for the sake of killing or killing for the pleasure of it.

Yes. My fellow Precure/Mahou shoujo bro.

At first in Episode 2, I was thinking "Ah, is that how they are going to portray a Mahou Shoujo in a realistic world?"

But my faith in Mahou Shoujo is restored. Time to bash everyone into submission.

That aside, I have no idea why people are complaining about the dialogue. It's a part of world building common to many novels and films (like Citizen Kane, Chungking Express, 12 Storeys). Or maybe it's just that I have been numbed to infodumps due to my literature/film studies modules.

Likely the former.

As for Mamika:

she'll toast anyone other than Altair or Magane. Against either of those two she stands not a chance; the former has an allegedly omnipotent weapon while the latter will manipulate her into killing herself via her own power.

Re:Creators, (along with SnK) is the highlight of my week, what keeps me going through a hard week at Uni.

I just... love Mamika so much! Yes, she was quite annoying during her introduction, but that was only natural. She's a character from a magical girl anime that found herself in a placer where her powers have severe consequences and people is killed. She's severely traumatized by that for a while, so she's hesitant to act. But she also maintains her most striking features according to the archetype she belongs to: she's innocent, but she recognizes where a bad deed is being done; she believes in peace and desires everyone to get along; and even though she's been manipulated (intimidated) by MUP so far, she also is capable of reach out for those who need her help, friends or foe equally. What a great character development: we have a girl that manages to get amazed by simple things in life (like the time with all of that merchandise with her face on it) and that has learned her actions have consequences (things that were a given in her own world), but still believes in love and justice.

On the other hand, purple haired girl is a really nice antagonist. I loved the way she played with her body language, her eyes, and her voice (cliched for a villain, I know, but that's the sweet thing about her!). I'm so eager to see how she fits in the plot.

I've been saying it over the last few weeks but I am glad she brought over a villain this time since it was in-line with my expectations of a sensible course of action. Heroes would be easier to control but villains would more likely agree with what she was doing whether they shared her goals or not.

The action scene was ok, the new girl is interesting but I'm not too sure how her general thought process. The revolver guy was definitely pretty cool, I'm interested in seeing his and the girl's source material to get a better grasp of their worlds/personalities/abilities. All I can decipher is that the new girl has to make you believe in a lie about a lie and whatever she wants to happen will happen.

As for Souta, I think the main reason he didn't reveal his information to the others is that he wants to take a little time to make sure that he's right before leading them on a wild goose chase. Even if he did reveal it to them, I don't think there would be much they could do about it anyway with the author being dead and none of them knowing anything about the work (quite clear souta wasn't a writer nor draw that character in its current form). At best they could try to go to her residence and try to find something to learn about her abilities and personality, but that still wouldn't give them the main information they need. I.E how did she get over here in the first place and how is she bringing others across.

Makagami is... Interesting. She's insane, but interesting.

I am still boggled about Alice, but I can see why she wants her story/world to be "saved". Blind Justice, it seems.

I'm a sucker for magical girls, so I am happy to see Mamika again, and follows her ideals. Being the youngest Creation (next to Rui), I imagine she will go 360 on the typical magical girl growth and development. It was nice that she FINALLY stand up and defend Meteora (and probably knows that the mage is not the bad guy). But now its gunsman VS. the magical girl. What a true pacifist.

(Yea my brain went Undertale again, especially for Alice being my anime-Undyne...)

I imagine Souta had a lot of grudge going on with the creation of "Military Lolita Girl" (AKA Altair). I feel you, dude. But the world will be at its doom soon if you don't speak up. :(

I can't believe this anime got me mandatory hype. And this goes to saying that I don't mind Meteora's info dump. At least she is informative and help piece up this Creation VS. Creators logic.

I see a ton of shifting alliances after the dust settles on this fight. Mamika may well become an ally to Celestia and Meteora's side, whilst chaotic Makagami may well join the bad guys.

And whilst we can discuss all we want about the psychological mindset of each of these characters, I feel a bigger issue here was the non-revelation of Souta as to the identity of Himegimi. I don't want to say it seems shady that he wouldn't reveal that vital information, but it is. And as I was watching the destruction wrought by the Creations on the city, I just got more and more frustrated as to why he didn't reveal to the others or the Government just what he knew.

Every other character's mindset can be understood and sympathized with so long as you can put yourself into their shoes and their historical situation, even Alicetelia's, but Souta has no reason not to reveal that information. I'm getting the feeling I'm going to be constantly frustrated by this issue until something major occurs and forces him to spill the beans (ie maybe an actual person dying or something).

The new girl almost made me root for discount Saber, even though she is a hypocrite and knows nothing of justice. Nothing worse than when logic beneath that of a child is presented like it should it is deep just by being wicked and anti morality.

After hearing the new girl's voice, i decided to search who is her voice actor, it turns out she is the one that also played as Haruhi from Ouran and Shinobu from Monogatari. My whole life is a lie…

Kiru-chan (that is what im going to call her) is pretty interesting. When they all began to fight and she just basically watches them lol.

I am the only one that is kinda annoyed with Mamika especially with her "ideology" talk?Though her character is basically the "justice" of their world and it came from a kids show so i should have known better…
But I wouldn't be suprised if she become a god and a "concept" that her powers is to watch out the universe just for lolz, just like in a certain show ;)

The new girl is best girl. Mark my words. BEST GIRL.
I just love how everyone is discussing about that justice bullshit and she just shits in it and stays away of the fight as soon as she has the chance. I love those kind of characters. That is also the reason why Yuya is best boy.

Glad to see Mamika has actually used her brain.

I probably edited my post after you posted the reply, I'l explain it better here.

I'm terrible at name reading so I think you're talking about the school girl and the magic girl who cries a lot. What I meant in my original comment was to introduce a new character beforehand who would act as a catalyst for the creations to band together against or even better yet, have the already existing alliances break-up.

When I edited my comment I suggested adding some OP female character who would've been able to take on all the creations. You can present her as having desires which conflict both Celestia's and Alice's ideologies.

I'll use one of my own characters here as an example. You have an author (me) who creates a world in-which time-travel is possible for an entity which closely resembles a demon. Using a demon's physical appearance would contradict most of the creation's ideologies as they all resent hell (My character doesn't come from hell). Furthermore this character has recently lost her (adoptive) child due to her powers (in my Novel the child dies to a 'cancer' which is the result of the demon's powers though its not intentional).

The OP character who has the appearance of a female demon makes her secondary introduction during the fight. Moreover, the occultist girl (Makagami) takes interest which presents with a potential false-characterization, making us assume that this new OP character is evil. Use an emotional character arc and her potential death as a catalyst for the creations to either band together or breakup only to find motivation later to confront Gunpuku.

To also add to my other post, you could even have dialogue between this new character and Gunpuku and even Souta since they all share the deceased friend / lover in common. At least then we'd get a clear perspective on why Gunpuku hates humanity.

That's true in a sense of what she does, however, her character introduction was diminished quickly. The tension before hand was removed quickly by the introduction of Deus Ex Celestia who completely destroys a potentially amazing factor in the series such as Alice almost dying and there being an answered if factor (What if the creations die?). She was forced off the stage though near the end which forced introspection by her character on the fight panning out.

I suggested in my last post to have Makagami join forces with the OP character, at-least then she's not sitting back doing fuck-all.

I called her a meathead because she's stupid. Also according to the Urban Dictionary: "Gets upset very quickly when he cannot complete his own sentences and thoughts." That's pretty much what she did when Celestia contradicted her. She also threw wooden blocks at a standing-brick fire like a twat not accounting for the little girl next to her and the boiling water.

Re: Creators has not yet shown what it came for
A plot that does not seem to mesh at all, this bickering of values is meaningless, I hope that soon the goals will fit and things start to get more tense, because all I see now are characters that will face only to generate good scenes Of studio action that is expert in that.

Should we feel lucky Makagami's ability has restrictions to use ? lol.
Magical girl definitely has the most absurd and op powers right now no doubt.
The fight is always so short though, the moment it started it's already near the end.
In the end, it's everyone for themselves. Stop it with the justice and right or wrong.
Makagami just watching the show on the sidelines wahaha.
I can't stand alice and the magical girl tbh. XD
Yuuya please come out.

I like the new girl, but I doubt she will join any side right away. My only complaint is the MC. Mainly because hes hiding the secret of the creator but also because hes not even near the fight. I know he couldn't do anything but, hes starting to feel like a cameo character.

at last an action packed episode! this show redeemed itself of the previous episode with its all info dump!
Makagami finally showed-up and looks like she's a neutral and a bit intimidating and for sure she's strong also!
5/5.

This anime is no different than your typical LoL or DoaTA match. 5v5 battle. You have your typical Top Lane Melee. Mid lane Mage, Bot lane Tanks and ADCs. The other is just filling the empty blocks.

Someone pin this, I totally agree!

Well this is certainly not the voice I expected to get for Makagami.
Sounds very interesting.

a murderer and a shoplifter (robbery), 2 of the most despised crime on my list. And that bad-teeth girl done both.

when I saw she walk out of the shop without paying (comitting shop-lifting), her image completely broken, there is no way I can like a robber no matter how much she amend, unless she has to lost one of her hand, shop-lifters are scum on earth. What's more... He is just an innocent book salesman with no clear intent and ideal, why do she has to kill him (for the sake of of proving being bad/villain). Such a shallow villain character, and all that stupid blabbering she did. Alice must be an idiot to even triggered by it. Magakami must have been created by some 3rd rate writer.

Shallow episode, shallow characters 1/10 the episode is incredibly boring and no inside at all just like some cheap random shounen anime episode, only 15 minute in and my desire to drop intensify.

The new girl really reminded me of Mari Makinami from Rebuild from some reason, and then of course I realised that it was Maaya Sakamoto doing her voice. Cool character.

There is still way, way, way too much dialogue in this show that doesn't contribute much. The guys behind this really need to take SHOW, DON'T TELL 101.

I feel like she's gonna change sides but also I feel like maybe she'll end up dying (Probably from the yangire girl)

On that, I don't think so, if anything she is the yangire's weakpoint. Yangire uses lies to activate her magic - she has to get the other person to say them or deny it - Had the knight hit her, the attack would have rebounded on the knight. Because magic girl's intents are pure, her thoughts match her deeds, she is the one person that Yangire can't use her magic on.

In a weird way, she could actually be the one who turns the Yangire - in that obviously she thinks that everyone in the world is hypocritical and gets what the deserve, to have someone who isn't would be a stunning revelation to the Yangire.

But we will have to see!

Well the yangire has her way with twisting words so she might as well be capable of deluding Mamika but yeah you're most probably right that Mamika has the best chance of turning Yangire. We can only wait and see what happens.
