Well? I see that there are fanfic writers around, but it seems like they don't get so much attention here. Figured out I'd create a thread where you can promote your fanfics and perhaps improve your chance of getting reviews or make it easier start a review exchange or something. Though do keep in mind that the chance of getting reviews is much better if you try reading others' works, be it from a fandom you know or not, and leave a review on them beforehand. Think about it: it is easier to get a review from someone you know than a complete stranger. Besides, reading is a way to improve your writing. If you come in fandom blind, you can learn the dos and donts to make your fanfics more approachable by fandom blind readers.
Promote your fanfics here and explain why you think they're worth reading, whether it's from your own opinion or others' reviews (especially if you have it posted at fanfiction.net). Also, do share an excerpt of your fanfic.
"Who wouldn't want to be like me? Handsome and free like a bird in a tree! Badaboom!"
I'll be the first to promote my work then. Though may I suggest giving a promotion form like in Writers Anonymous at ffnet? It will look neater that way.
Twisted Death is a Gungrave fanfic of mine, which is set about one year after the anime. After the death of Dr. Bernard Rutherford, everybody in the Rutherford family perished one by one except Dr. William, Brandon's caretaker. Judging from the victims' remains and the pattern of the murder, some said William might have offended someone from a crime organization, while Brandon thought necrolyzed beings were behind the murder.
Here, I've been trying to blend between murder mystery and action/sci-fi. Of course, the action is upped a few notches because I like how action-packed Gungrave games are, and I'm just trying to strike a balance between the two (anime has more drama but less action, game has more action but less drama).
Be warned that this is much bloodier and gorier than my other works, so it's not for the squeamish. ;)
What many others (all fandom blind readers) have said about this work? Well, I think it's my ability to keep everything mostly approachable by fandom blind readers.
After resting for some time, he opened his eye and slowly rose. His body still ached a bit, but he believed he now had enough power to fight. With his image projected on the rear-view mirror ahead of him, he observed the driver's cockpit and the seat beside it. Two overgrown gray-haired men sat at the front; one of them steered the wheel on the left, while the other sat still on the right with a tranquilizer gun in his grasp.
They spotted him. "Go back to sleep!" the gun-wielding necrolyzer snapped, turning and aiming at him.
Brandon ducked. A dart whizzed past the leather seat, tearing its cover before hitting the back door.
"Stop the van!"
With a screech, the van stopped. The abrupt halt sent Brandon rolling towards the door. Another dart came, which he dodged with a sideway roll. Looking past the leather seat, he saw the gun-wielding necrolyzer climbing and running all the way to him.
Brandon kicked the door down and rolled out of the van, evading a few more darts in process. He scanned the environment before rolling and creeping into underneath the trembling vehicle. They lay just a few meters away from a cliff.
The van suddenly moved, leaving behind a trail of smoke, dirt, and blood as it ran over his leg and chest. Patches of crimson appeared on his pants and bandaged torso, growing larger and larger.
A gunshot rang.
A dart struck him in his left thigh. Looking up, he found the gun-wielding necrolyzer towering before him. "Be a good boy and go back to sleep," the overgrown man taunted, grinning.
Brandon scooped up a handful of dirt and tossed it at the gloating undead.
"My eyes!"
Brandon kicked the gun out of the necrolyzer's grasp, sending it straight into the cliff.
"Dammit!" With a roar, the undead leapt. Landing knee-first on Brandon's chest, he pinned Brandon's arm to the ground with a hand. "One dart won't be enough to keep you asleep until we reach our destination. I'll just use the traditional method."
The necrolyzer punched Brandon in the face, rapidly and repeatedly with the other hand. His heartbeat slowed. His vision blurred. Blood gushed out of his nostrils and reopened wounds. He struggled to break free from the undead's grip, but to no avail.
He spat blood at the man's eyes. Screaming in shock, the necrolyzer pulled away and rubbed his eyes. Arm now free, Brandon seized the overgrown man by his collar. A battle cry burst out of his mouth as he hurled the necrolyzer into cliff. The undead wouldn't die from the fall, but for now, Brandon would have one less foe to deal with.

I always think that WA's format is too stiff. Here, I don't give any format in hopes that people can be more elaborate in promoting their works. Isn't it more fun if you get a bigger picture of what you'll be reading?
PS. You need to update Twisted Death ASAP. Your action scenes are bloody hot. :P

It sure is. But as far as I know, some posters at WA also get more elaborate at times, despite the given form.
Haven't written anything since last week. I'm very busy, and when I have time, I focus on editing someone else's work instead of writing.
