Holy shit. Imagine that you focus on fleshing out your main cast more and you can consistently turn out entertaining episodes. I honestly didn't expect Constanze to get her own episode. But this was a really great one. I liked how they didn't even compromise how she never talks. The beginning of the episode was fine if not a bit overdone. The montage of Akko screwing up was not the series strongest moment. But her getting locked in the cage was pretty funny. But it really shined as an episode once they started working together.

Again it was a little on the nose. Oh Constanze doesn't understand people and just tries to throw money at every problem. However it worked better than the on the nose screwing around in the first half. And it even gave Akko a chance to be useful for once in a believable way. But as much as I enjoyed them teaming up. And Constanze slowly warming up to Akko. Where the episode really sold me. Where I felt this was one of the best episodes of the series so far. Was when they went full TTGL at the end.

Sure it's been overdone. Sure Trigger already did randomly throw in elements from TTGL/Gainax golden era at the end of Uchuu Patrol Luluco last year. And while we're bringing that up sure Constanze's ship looked a lot like Lalaco's Pirate ship from that series too. But I love it. I love that even when doing a relatively cartoonish/childish interpretation of something like Harry Potter. Trigger can't help but throw in giant robots. Even in a series where giant robots have no place. They will make a place for them. It's kind of beautiful. Keep the flame alive Trigger. More giant robots, less silly melodrama.

kinda feels like a filler.. The whole wild hunt concept was very rushed and seems like somebody just thought about it right before the episode aired.
But it was clearly a TTGL hommage - so I take it.

So a mecha saved the day, Japan and it's obsessions.
Well Ako being helpful was interesting to watch even if it created a lot of trouble at first she turned out the be very useful/
I like the ship way more the the robot it was much more appealing.

Same here. The Gurren Lagann vibe killed me a bit.

Also... Where's Diana. Bring her back, give her an episode.

Besides Gundam, TTGL Yamato, and Evangelion, was there a Hokuto no Ken reference?

Awn no one printed the "Constanze pointing a gun to Akko" scene. Idk I just love cute girls with guns.

You want it, you got it.

Will this get censored in US thanks to the glorious way US censores Japanese guns on anime but not their cartoons?

Ehh I don't think so, we have Amanda episode last week it would be odd if she's the only one who's getting a character development when the 3 of them is essential for the revival of the words.

So you dont think it was a TTGL hommage?
Or you dont think the wild hunt came out of nowhere and they only participating at the last day was rushed?
last time we had not only amanda but also the boys. Also they went to search the word. this time someone was like " shit ep18 already? Quick make some more side character eps"
Also still no diana after teasing something with her family. I call that cheap writing.

Pls dont tell me you think this was one of the best episodes of LWA. They can do and have done better. Thats all Im saying.

They don't follow any source material so saying the episode is a filler doesn't make any sense.

They only participating the last day because Constanze has a special permission from the school to participate and since Blytonbury was near their academy. That's not out of nowhere.

Do you think Diana is the only character who needs screen time or any character development?, are you aware that she was all over the place back in first cour.

Since almost episode has a subtle reference whether to another anime or pop culture, Yes every episode of LWA is the best for me. I don't think there's an episode that you felt it was best... or rather better.

I did notice the TTGL reference of course.

I said it felt like a filler, even source material can have filler. By now akko has her mission to gather the words, crox is planning something and diana is vary of the words. Anything not related to that is filler. You can develope characters and still make it story relevant. Thats why I said its cheap writing.
The wild hunt was never mentioned before - thats literally out of nowhere.
Actually I personally think diana is the only interesting girl (not talking about chariot etc here) but no, I dont want only her. But leaving her out is garbage as well.
when just because of references this episode is as good as the rest for you then the case is closed. I nearly dropped it, you liked it. Thats about it.

That Guren lagan references is really cool!
There's also Thor's, and I'm sure I've seen that red gloves somewhere... Hellboy maybe?

My little grumpy, mecha-building, machine gun-wielding, germanic-depressive dwarf mechanic can't be this cute.

So what's up with her being mute? Her vocal chords seem to work just fine, according to all the "hmph" noises she makes. Does she have a funny voice? Is she just insane? Or is it a serious psychological problem?

Did you forget that Croix was majorly involved in this episode? She's the one that gave Constanze the special permission to participate in the hunt, she's the one that leaked the location of the hunt so that all of those people would be there, then she sent her machines to cause all of that chaos and defeating Constanze/Akko wasn't even her goal. You would only call this "filler" if you weren't paying attention. While the focus of the episode was Akko and Constanze bonding, the actual events of the episode hint are very close to the major story going on. Posters for the Wild Hunt were seen in a previous episode, so it's not out of nowhere. Every episode has had a concept/event/character appear with no prior buildup, that doesn't make them rushed. They only participated on the last day of the Wild Hunt because the location near them was where it was going to go to, since the hunt isn't always in one location and is constantly on the move. Think of it like a touring band, with this being their final performance of the tour.

Some people(especially anti-socials) just don't like talking to other people. They can, sure, but they choose not to. Psychological problems? Probably.

Speaking from personal experience I don't like to be around people in real life. I'm not comfortable with that and prefer to have my own safe space. I can and I do talk but when people discuss stuff that are not my business then I choose not to talk with them. But if someone talks about something I am interested in, then I open up a bit to them and talk normally.

Forcing a friend of a friend to accept her help by incessantly bugging her until she begrudgingly accepts. That is... so classic Akko. Well, she did end up being useful, at least. This was just a fun little meme episode, with plenty of visual spectacle.

-holy shit i thouht that c9 vs tsm shot was edited when dyrus retweeted it, AOTS
-constanze = professional gamer
-akko's screams are always hilarious
-A W E A P O N T O S U R P A S S M E T A L G E A R
-constanze was a grouchy kid
-is that chef demon the voice of tenmyoji from vlr
-wait 331 pounds for a mixer?
-👍
-this truly is a weapon to surpass metal gear
-looks like croix's part of a worldwide network or something
-o fuck yea that mecha transformation was super badass
-these colors give off a ttgl feel
-spoke way too soon
-that smile at the end was adorable

So this episode was pretty wonderfully ridiculous, and the main focus of the episode didn't even get any speaking lines at all. In fact, pretty much all of the character development (if you can call it that) that Constanze got this episode was initiated and explained by Akko. The episode was pretty interesting because of that, and also because of all of the references to other things, including but not limited to digital athletics and literally TTGL. All of this stuff made the episode pretty interesting conceptually, but it seems it was only intended to set up the conversation at the end where Croix was planning something, as well as Constanze's little character arc. In any case, it was an interesting episode despite not being as exciting as some of the other episodes.

The TTGL (and probably other mecha anime) reference was glorious. Of course, Trigger had to do something like this at some point. :D

P.S.: Fuck you, Croix. Even if your goals weren't bad, you're an asshole. >:(

"There is nothing you can do to stop me"

They are abusing this trope WAYYYY too hard
http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/PoorCommunicationKills

Ursula could, at any time, tell Akko and the rest of the staff what Croix is up to. You know she's up to no good, you have evidence of her doing all these shit. You know that the lab that the academy allowed her to built.

Speaking of which, the origin story revolving that ALSO relied on Ursula, the only one who'd know that croix had bad intentions, just happened to be sent away while the stupid old witches make the decision to give croix all the power she needed. It's way too convenient, and the way everyone is Just happen to be stupid enough at the right time to facilitate her scheme is just bad writing

nice to see a Constanze focus episode. though isint using a giant pirate ship that turns into a giant battle robot kinda cheating and ruins the spirit of the hunt. Though im sure trigger was right at home when doing this episode lol.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't remember Constanze being mute in the mini-movies.

Regardless, I liked this episode. I especially liked the TTGL-esque mecha-fight at the end.

Mixed feelings: part of me feels the mecha awesomeness, but a part of me still thinks Trigger should just do a mecha anime instead of pulling that shit here. Iirc it already pissed me off in the second OVA. Do you even magic?

So, what we have here? A maho shoujo anime compaired with evangelion, ttgl, mazinger and other moments, that are too expensive. Fanservice for fanservice, but that was relly awesome, lol
