Have you ever been curious about about our staff? What they're like? What they like? Or hey, how about their taste in anime?
We've seen other clubs have staff collections, so we thought, why not us too?
Below, each staff member handpicked five (5) of their favorite anime along with five (5) they've been eagerly wanting to watch.
The officers had a great deal of fun making these collections (many laughs were had) and hope everyone has just as much while watching them!
Special thanks to SecretDinosaur for initially proposing the idea!
Now, without further adieu...
Welcome to our very own staff collections!
These collections are available in our Hall of Fame as a checklist that will help you complete it.
— You will need to have turned-in at least once (any challenge) to appear listed. Check if you are in the database here.
[X] Kingdom (38 eps) I'm a fan of the manga source (it's one of the best war based I have read) so I was reluctant to watch the anime. I'm the type that doesn't enjoy as much a title if I have already seen it in a different medium... also the CG! BUT don't let this stop you from checking out the anime. It has a great story and awesome characters. You will either love or hate them. It's just so fulfilling that you won't regret it... or at least I hope so ;D
[X] Bounen no Xamdou (26 eps) One of the first few I saw back then when I started watching anime consciously. I fell in love with it... the story, as expected, is interesting. It has lots of the military elements but it's also kinda balanced with the Sci-Fi it presents. If I remember correctly it has a bit of a slow and confusing start but it gets better later on.
[X] Kimi to Boku. (13 eps) What can I say. This one is a school SoL of boys. Those guys are cute! And lovely. It's a warming anime. And the second season only gets better! I cried quite a bit with it.
[X] Hoozuki no Reitetsu (13 eps) The comedy in this one is so good! But it might not be everyone cup of tea. mm I guess it can be called dark humor... It has demons and all that but it won't scare you =D I mean, those guys are love. Hope you get a great laugh out of it.
[X] Uchuu Show e Youkoso (Movie) This was a pleasant surprise. I wasn't expecting to enjoy this since it totally looks it's for kids, but it has so much on it! The animation is good, the music, the story itself! It was really amazing.
The following are series that I haven't been able to start yet, but I have been meaning to. Some are for other challenges xD but most are picked by an initial personal interest in them. To be honest I'm pretty sure there's at least one there I won't enjoy T_T but let's find out about it together, yes? ♥
Five wonderful shows that made me love them for various reasons. Some fluffy, calm and relaxing, others hilarious and silly and then some sad and bittersweet. I chose these shows both because I like them and because I wanted to find shows that fit different moods. I hope everyone enjoys these as much as I did!
Join me as we travel through the years that I've been alive checking some of my favorite things. Since this is a collection about me. Now, on your left you'll see some of my favorite shows that I've watched since starting to watch anime.
[X] Medaka Box (12 eps) 2012; The main show that hooked me into anime, though I do prefer the second season and manga more.
[X] Grisaia no Kajitsu (13 eps) 2014; One of the first VN/Harem shows that I truly enjoyed, mostly due to the protagonist having a personality.
[X] Rakudai Kishi no Cavalry (12 eps) 2015; Actual romance, from early in a show. Oh and action I guess.
[X] Demi-chan wa Kataritai (12 eps) 2017; Monster girls rule and this is one of the best.
[X] Uma Musume: Pretty Derby (TV) (13 eps) 2018; Sports anime with a lot of references to real life, and tons of effort put into the little details.
Now if you look to your right, you'll see some shows that I've been most excited to get to from years before I ever watched my first episode of Naruto. That I still haven't watched for some reason.
[X] Sakura Taisen (25 eps) 2000; Sakura Wars: So Long My Love was my first dating sim, ans still one of the best, because it was also a mecha fighting RPG too.
[X] Genshiken (12 eps) 2004; This looks pretty relatable and I've had multiple friends recommend it
[X] Ryuusei no Rockman (55 eps, short) 2006; I LOVE the Mega Man series, as you might have guessed from my username, pfp, etc., so I'm dragging you all along for the ride, for Starforce at least.
[X] Deltora Quest (65 eps) 2007; Did you know that Deltora is an acronym for- Sorry I've been told that's a spoiler for one of my favorite book series that I may have realized recently had an anime.
[X] Arad Senki: Slap Up Party (26 eps) 2009; Another great game of my youth, adapted to an anime. Hopefully I won't be disappointed, as I've played a ton of this one.
[X] Promare (Movie) Throw Kill la Kill and Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagaan in a blender, add colour and an awesome soundtrack, this is the result
[X] Koukyoushihen Eureka Seven (50 eps) Eureka Seven is a bit of an oddity for me, I started out not liking it much but it grew on me until I cried at the ending...
[X] Bubblegum Crisis (8 eps) Between the 80s rock music and some awesome characters, this is a great watch
[X] Koukaku Kidoutai: Stand Alone Complex (26 eps) I've been putting this one off for a while since I've been thinking it might be a bit too close to Psycho-Pass in content, but hopefully I can get around to this soon
[X] Macross (36 eps) One of the most important space anime of all time and I still haven't seen it
[X] Planet With (12 eps) It's a work by Satoshi Mizukami, creator of some of my favourite manga of all time
[X] Heion Sedai no Idaten-tachi (11 eps) What drew me in was the artstyle/colors. Despite having some pretty dark themes, Idaten became one of my favorite dumb fun/popcorn entertainment shows (with a great OP as well).
[X] Tsuki to Laika to Nosferatu (12 eps) Tsundere vampire girl. Fictional Russia. Is there a better combination? No, no there isn't.
[X] Seikai no Monshou (13 eps) A slow burn, but one that I couldn't stop watching. Great world building and characters. I generally don't gravitate towards older shows, but this is one I'm glad I found.
[X] Flag (13 eps) Its interesting choice of POV storytelling and its very realistic tone are definitely different from most things I've seen.
[X] Puraore! Pride of Orange (12 eps) Being my favorite sport, I pray that we can get more hockey anime at some point.
[X] Machikado Mazoku (12 eps) Seems like a fun CGDCT from the clips I've seen.
[X] Summertime Render (25 eps) I decided to wait till this was finished airing so that I could binge it, and then I forgot about it. I've managed to avoid spoilers and plan to get to this soon.
[X] Layton Mystery Tanteisha: Katri no Nazotoki File (50 eps) I have very fond memories of playing the Professor Layton games on the Nintendo DS in the late 2000s/early 2010s. I had no idea that it was a Japanese franchise, nor that it had a pretty recent TV adaptation. While Professor Layton is just a supporting character, I still want to watch this for the nostalgia. And of course, HanaKana voicing a main character is always a plus.
[X] Maison Ikkoku (96 eps) I'm a big fan of adult romance anime and it's got the same original creator as Urusei Yatsura, which I've enjoyed the remake of. I wanna get into more pre-2000s stuff and feel this would be a good start.
[X] Tensei shitara Slime Datta Ken (24 eps) One of my favorites, most people already know this so no introductions needed. For those of you inside an isekai-less bubble, OP slime swallows dragon and builds a village, gud
[X] Arifureta Shokugyou de Sekai Saikyou (13 eps) My other favorite, love how it differs from the typical isekai mc and gives you a guy running on spite instead. OP angry dude chooses guns in a fantasy world while collecting weird monster girls
[X] Knight's & Magic (13 eps) One of the first isekai I watched, not very well known, but you can't go wrong with isekai and robots. Also this doesn't have as many members as the other options so it can hopefully delay some people. Isekai'd otaku loves robots so he builds a lot of OP mechas for war
[X] Kage no Jitsuryokusha ni Naritakute! (20 eps) Anyone sensing the theme yet? OP MC and Fantasy is all I need to be happy. Dude puts in crazy amounts of effort into pretending to be this hidden OP guy and makes up an evil organization he's fighting against, somehow getting everything right. I totally didn't choose this just to add to the chapter count
[X] Isekai Nonbiri Nouka (12 eps) Ok not all isekais have to be about fighting, sometimes it's nice to just watch a dude build a farm and an unofficial harem(or watch a child make a laundromat, but I only have 5 choices 😭). Of course, he's still OP to fit my trashy tastes. OP dude only has farming-related skills, so he makes do. The way they decided to add triangles to everyone's eyes is something we just have to accept
[X] Youjo Senki (12 eps) One of the most well known isekais out there and one of the few franchises I haven't tried yet. Totally wasn't just holding out on watching this so I could include it on my collection
[X] Kage no Jitsuryokusha ni Naritakute! 2nd Season (12 eps) Season one was good, so I'm playing it safe instead of choosing something random. Totally not another attempt at delaying people
[X] Ore dake Level Up na Ken (12 eps) Ok, ok, this is technically not an isekai, but... well I loved the manhwa and this is my collection so I get to do whatever I want. You should read the manhwa too though, otherwise it won't count uh.. because it's a good read, yeah, but the novel is better. READ THE NOVEL TOO, OK BYE
[X] Gekai Elise (12 eps) Also not an isekai, but again; I can do whatever I want. One of my favorite manhwas ever, yes I don't only read about OP dudes, I also read about OP doctors! Villain queen gets executed, becomes a doctor in the modern world and then dies in a plane crash that sends her back to her original life. Confusing enough? Good. Let's hope the anime has some different art because that ML was... rough in the manhwa
And if someone out there has kept track and is confused as to why it took so long for my collection to come out, I 100% did not make Shey wait almost a year so I could include the last two animes
[X] Uramichi Oniisan (13 eps) I wasn't expecting much going into this show, but it had me in stitches at various points in the series. The characters have very relatable moments and reactions. Also one of the best giggling scenes ever.
[X] Mashiro no Oto (12 eps) The music is what really nails this series for me.
[X] Arakawa Under the Bridge (13 eps) The cast sure is something in this, but that's also part of the charm.
[X] Kaitou Saint Tail (43 eps) I have such a soft spot for this series. The manga was one of the first series I'd bought, so this was one of my formative series. I just find it to be a really cute series.
[X] Kusuriya no Hitorigoto (24 eps) This is a series I'd been looking forward to getting an anime for so long and I wasn't disappointed. The animation is so stunning and I love the flow of the entire series. The characters are so charming, too.
[X] Cool Doji Danshi (24 eps) I have had this recommended to me at various points and it's been on my radar for a while now, so I figured I should give it a go with this collection!
[X] Kotarou wa Hitorigurashi (10 eps) I've heard really good things about this series and it's another one that has been flagged at me since it aired.
[X] Pumpkin Scissors (24 eps) I barely know anything about this, since I love going into things blind, but I spied it on my recommendation list.
[X] Vivy: Fluorite Eye's Song (13 eps) A friend of mine was into this series, so it made me interested in giving it a watch. Eventually. (You know... backlogs.)
[X] Akudama Drive (12 eps) Another series that I've heard of in passing and it's been on a recommendation list for me.
I feel like these five anime encapsulate me as a person and an anime watcher. These are not all anime I consider 10s, but they are all anime that are memorable, intriguing, and often downright scary. Buckle up for a fiendish treat of horrific delight~
[X] Blood+ (50 eps) Way before I joined MAL and back when Netflix only had a handful of anime on its platform, I watched Blood+ ♥ It is my all-time favorite anime and I think everyone should give it a chance.
[X] Trigun Stampede (12 eps) Trigun Stampede is a visual splendor of what CGI anime can do in a dystopian, western-inspired, horror-filled futuristic setting. My love for Trigun skyrocketed because of Stampede.
[X] Sonny Boy (12 eps) This is masterclass storytelling, right here. Throw everything you may think out the window because this is a frightening, trippy, tale that I will always think about on occasion.
[X] Yuukoku no Moriarty (11 eps) There isn't much that beats a psychological retelling of a famous fictional historical detective, is there? This anime revolutionized what I thought could be covered by a 1-cour.
[X] Mnemosyne: Mnemosyne no Musume-tachi (6 eps) Truly fiendish, this anime has yet to top itself as one of the best plotlines criticizing humanity. The continuous progression of characters in Mnemosyne is unlike any other.
And for these five anime, I feel like they encapsulate all of the good, bad, and the in-between that comes with anime watching. I have the feeling of being intrigued by all of them, but have no idea what my opinion on them will be once completed. I can only hope that they are as memorable as they are fiendish ♥
[X] Devilman Lady (26 eps) I've watched a lot of Devilman content, but still haven't gotten around to Devilman Lady. Maybe we can figure out how horrific this 70s anime is together?
[X] Shinseiki Evangelion (26 eps) THE quintessential anime that I have yet to dive into. I have countless friends, relatives, and strangers who tell me to watch this sci-fi horror extravaganza. The question is, what if I never watch it?
[X] Baraou no Souretsu (24 eps) Regency era complicated anime with a below average score and a supposedly surprise twist? Sign me up for whatever this is about to be!
[X] Vampire Knight (13 eps) You either love it or you hate it, it's that vampire anime from the late 2000s! I had a friend who watched this in high school which made her not want to watch anime. Years later I'm still putting it off.
[X] Mars Red (13 eps) I will admit to having watched one minute of this anime over someone's shoulder once. It looks like a crazy fever dream that I hope is just as diabolically horrible as I hope it will be.
[X] Arslan Senki (TV) (25 eps) Something about building your own army and band of brothers is so cool to me...
[X] Kingdom (38 eps) Zero to hero? Check. Building your own army? Check. No clue how it all stays interesting but it somehow does. Amazing manga as well.
[X] Kami no Tou (13 eps) This just scratches that hard fantasy itch for me. Great and mysterious world system, interesting magic as well.
[X] Kimi ni Todoke (25 eps) Soft mushy kinda oddly dramatic romance? Yes pls.
[X] 86 (11eps) Cool sci-fi-ish military and tragic stories, kinda sad. Emo broody protagonist.
[X] Ao Ashi (24 eps) One of the manga I helped on when it originally released. Have yet to see the anime, but the manga is a beautiful.
[X] Ashita no Joe (79 eps) I am so stoked to get into Ashita No Joe... I adore the manga.
[X] Pluto (8 eps) All of Urusawa's works are on my shelf. Can't wait for this!
[X] Planetes (26 eps) I was depressed while reading this so I'm sure I'll be depressed watching it. Which is why I love it.
[X] Skip to Loafer (12 eps) Something here screams for me to watch (and enjoy) it, but I haven't.. Time to fix some life priorities.
[X] Gekidol: Actidol Project (12 eps) Is it good? No. In fact, the first five or so eps are pretty boring, but after that things get crazy. An affront to all conventions of coherent storytelling, but you can’t deny it’s unique. You won’t believe where it goes.
[X] Actors: Songs Connection (12 eps) That feeling when you have to question if you've been wrong on how doors work your whole life.
[X] Samurai Flamenco (22 eps) *slaps show* This bad boy can fit so many genre shifts and a marriage proposal like you won’t believe.
One thing about me is that I gravitate towards emotionally heavy stuff when watching anime but I didn't want the entire list to be in the same genre. It was difficult to choose, but the following anime mostly captures the essence of emotional connections.
[X] Kaichou wa Maid-sama! (26 eps) Even though I remember watching anime on TV when I was younger, this is the first anime that I have watched and enjoyed in full.
[X] Violet Evergarden (13 eps) I've always enjoyed this anime, from the graphics to the music and especially the storytelling. Although it can be controversial, the takeaway for me was the journey of self-discovery.
[X] Kono Sekai no Katasumi ni (1 ep) One random anime I watched without any context that left me emotionally devastated.
[X] Hibike! Euphonium (13 eps) This one has been popping up on my feed.

It has a great story and awesome characters. You will either love or hate them. It's just so fulfilling that you won't regret it... or at least I hope so ;D
[X]Bounen no Xamdou (26 eps) One of the first few I saw back then when I started watching anime consciously. I fell in love with it... the story, as expected, is interesting. It has lots of the military elements but it's also kinda balanced with the Sci-Fi it presents. If I remember correctly it has a bit of a slow and confusing start but it gets better later on.
[X]Kimi to Boku. (13 eps) What can I say. This one is a school SoL of boys. Those guys are cute! And lovely. It's a warming anime. And the second season only gets better! I cried quite a bit with it.
[X]Hoozuki no Reitetsu (13 eps) The comedy in this one is so good! But it might not be everyone cup of tea. mm I guess it can be called dark humor... It has demons and all that but it won't scare you =D I mean, those guys are love. Hope you get a great laugh out of it.
[X]Uchuu Show e Youkoso (Movie) This was a pleasant surprise.

Join me as we travel through the years that I've been alive checking some of my favorite things. Since this is a collection about me. Now, on your left you'll see some of my favorite shows that I've watched since starting to watch anime.
[✔] Medaka Box (12 eps) 2012; The main show that hooked me into anime, though I do prefer the second season and manga more.
[✔] Grisaia no Kajitsu (13 eps) 2014; One of the first VN/Harem shows that I truly enjoyed, mostly due to the protagonist having a personality.
[✔] Rakudai Kishi no Cavalry (12 eps) 2015; Actual romance, from early in a show. Oh and action I guess.
[✔] Demi-chan wa Kataritai (12 eps) 2017; Monster girls rule and this is one of the best.
[✔] Uma Musume: Pretty Derby (TV) (13 eps) 2018; Sports anime with a lot of references to real life, and tons of effort put into the little details.
Now if you look to your right, you'll see some shows that I've been most excited to get to from years before I ever watched my first episode of Naruto. That I still haven't watched for some reason.
[✔] Sakura Taisen (25 eps) 2000; Sakura Wars: So Long My Love was my first dating sim, ans still one of the best, because it was also a mecha fighting RPG too.

[X]Hatsukoi Monster (12 eps) (Recently had to make a badge for this series and now I wanna watch it, lol)
[X]Shuangsheng Lingtan (20 eps) (It's piqued my interest... discover with me if it's worth anything xD)

Five wonderful shows that made me love them for various reasons. Some fluffy, calm and relaxing, others hilarious and silly and then some sad and bittersweet. I chose these shows both because I like them and because I wanted to find shows that fit different moods. I hope everyone enjoys these as much as I did!
[✔]Kingdom (38 eps) I'm a fan of the manga source (it's one of the best war based I have read) so I was reluctant to watch the anime.
