What are your thoughts of anime "From the new world"?
I heard it's intriguing and very good anime but as I watched the first few episodes, I was kinda confused and now wondering whether I should continue watching it or not

Please don't spoil anything!

Should go in the series discussion.

It's a good case of world building and a bad case of characterization, for the most part.
Good ending though.

It's a very good anime. One of my favorites. If you're confused now, you may want to rewatch it afterwards or start from the beginning again. Pay attention to detail and everything that's said.

It's one of those potential "2deep4me" stories that requires a bit of thinking to fully understand. It's not just some random story for the sake of entertainment. Think about real life scenarios and problems and try and relate them to the show.

The anime itself is discussed there: https://myanimelist.net/forum/?animeid=13125
You might find the answer to your question in one of the non-episode-specific threads.

I do not know you well enough to tell if you will like it. As far as I know, it's a work in a "dystopia" genre, so if you're planning on having fun, I suggest you to avoid it, and watch something like Dennou Coil instead.

I remember the show being pretty straight-forward in terms of the story it tells. Not immediately knowing everything that's going to happen is normal for shows with mystery elements so I'm not sure why that would make you stop. If you're not confused during the first few episodes, it's a shitty mystery show. But SSY gives a lot of exposition early on and tells a fairly linear story so it really isn't difficult to understand as long as you pay attention.
I probably regret this post by now.

I disliked the anime personally but I guess if you found it confusing but not awful then there is not much of a reason not to continue.

If you disliked it, you probably are not gonna like it later on.

Great show marred by a not-so great cast. Still one of the best sci-fi story in anime.

It's GOAT. Keep watching and don't drop it after that one early episode..

People usually hate it because most of the main characters are kinda weak, but the anime never intended to have some deep characterization for them, they are just normal people that get caught up in serious stuff.. I think they fit for the story. You should probably look at them more as a group than single people. ;)

Overall I think the way progression and worldbuilding are handled is really great. It also has an epic conclusive ending with lots of interesting themes.

Maybe you can watch it once and then read the light novel if you are left with so many unanswered questions. I've rewatched the series so many times and read the light novel and realized how lacking the anime adaption is.

EDIT: The only way you can feel connected with the characters is if you have one or more close friends that you don't want to lose. Then you'll cry like a b*tch. I guaranteed!

the 5 or so arcs have all a very different feel to them, and they all make sense in the end
hope it's not much of a spoiler

I think it's one of the best anime I've ever watched. There are a few plot holes but it doesn't affect the story that much. You can read the novel for that.

The anime was a bit slow for the first 3 episodes but, after that, I think it picked up pace.

I think the villain was one of the smartest ones I've ever seen in anime. Also the twist in the story later on was also really great.

PS- Don't read the manga.

It's fanservice crap filled with lots of sex.
I heard it has better characterization but I don't buy it. XD

It's all about the last arc in SSY. It's up to you if you want to go through 15 episodes of shit for a few really satisfying moments.

I dropped it because it was just too boring, felt like a documentary. If you are into fast food, don't continue. If you are a gourmet and can wait for your food then continue.

Worth watching but Saki is one of the most boring main characters ever.

It's a goddamn masterpiece in my opinion. I actually didn't find it particularly 'slow' at all, and the payoff is practically one of the greatest I've seen thus-far. The atmosphere, the characters, the world and its secrets - if you like the idea of a good, ominous mystery too then I implore you to proceed with the series.

This bit of uncomfortable story, to most, gets darker as the series goes on.

This is probably the most accurate recommendation ever.

Edit: I didn't see this before but...

I agree, completely.

The anime is very good. The mysteries are well handled, giving the viewer a whole lot of answers and easily grasped clues, even to the questions that haven't yet been asked, so the story is easy to follow and the viewer isn't just left wondering what the heck is going on all the time.

I felt very compelled to begin the next episode time after time, it's a hard anime to "put down", because you feel very drawn in into the story and it's characters and setting, so I finished it in only three days.

But despite never ever being boring, it was a very hard anime to watch; often gut-wrenching (not only because of the gore), often heartbreaking. Among the hardest I've had the dubious pleasure of viewing. It cuts deep into the psyche and throws a party inside. So be warned.
