★BERRY AWARDS CEREMONY★

Today is a peaceful day. There are none of the usual shouting and angry growls of the crazy berries participating in the battle of strength
(and numbers) that one can hear even from miles away. There are no howls of frustration from the berries who ‘just.can’t.guess.get.it.right’
in the game no matter how much they try, that forced the wolves and other creatures that live in the nearby forest to migrate. There are
none of the tragic wails that could make one shudder just from hearing it, of berries who thought it’s already a certain victory just to be
interrupted by a hated berry from the other team.
It’s quiet, too quiet that it’s eerie. Is it because the games have just ended and the berries are exhausted? Or is it something else?
Something like a calm before a storm? Is the winning team refining and perfecting their strategies to completely crush the opposing team?
Is the losing team planning some kind of revenge in their secret underground headquarters? Oops. A berry just passed by. The glint in his
eyes and the sadistic smile on his face say it all.
But before you berries head into another battle, let your chosen Royal Berries give you rewards in recognition for the undying and
unconditional support you have for them, the blood, sweat, and tears you poured and the sacrifices you did for your team.

★ARC 2: UNDERCURRENTS★

Prince Blueberry

I didn’t know that standing in front of everyone, reassuring the supporters that everything will be alright in the next round of the games,
and ignoring the stares and not-so-subtle mocking of the nobles from Raspberry's faction while keeping up the Ice Prince facade can be
so mentally and physically draining. Why did I get a name like Ice Prince again? Anyway, a few also guessed that I'm just really shy but no.
I'm just a socially awkward person and most of the time, I just don't care. If not for the throne, I won't even take a second look and
participate in this farce.

Yes, I'm not the hero the commoners thought me to be. Yes, I am involved in projects that mostly are for the good of the common berries
but it's not like it's because I have a heart of gold or something. It's because my reputation would go down the drain if I'm just going to
laze around doing nothing. A prince gotta do some princely work, noh? Kidding aside, it's just because I didn't have a choice. What do I do
when the nobles don't want me in their circle? When I don't have their support? So of course, the next best thing to do is to turn to the
civilians. It looks like I'm using them but aren't they also the ones who get the benefits from all those projects? But really those nobles,
just because mother is from Nut… even though they are greedy, they are still loyal to their kingdom huh? No use thinking of them. Of life.
For now, I just wanna go to my room, lie down, and rest.

But just when I was about to turn into the hallway leading to my chambers, I saw a familiar figure walking towards me. Oh great, just great.
I really wish that she hadn't seen me but what am I thinking? It's her. The one who doesn't fail to harass me at every opportunity she can get.
Unlike the other times when I just pretended I didn't see her, I stopped walking and waited for her to get closer until we're standing at arm's
length. Why am I avoiding her sometimes? No, I'm not afraid of her. It's because the way she talks is annoying. The way she struts around the
place like she owns everything in the world is annoying. The way she wears only red or pink-colored dresses is annoying. Everything about her
is just that. Annoying. But tolerable. But still annoying. The pity I feel for the kingdom is mostly because of her. Because I can only imagine
what would happen if she became the ruler. But of course, I can't let that happen. I won't.

“Greetings, Prince Blueberry. You look pale. Did the games exhaust you? Maybe you should just rest and give up the next round? You might
be crushed again and then you’ll look even worse. My, my, we don’t want that, right?” She said with an obviously fake, concerned… and
annoying tone. I can feel the veins in my temples twitch. I am slightly regretting my choice of facing her now. I'm tired and not in the best
mood for this sort of confrontation. I am not sure if I can keep up my stone cold image. I should've just went straight to my chambers. But if
she saw me do that, I'm sure as hell that tomorrow there would be rumors circulating in the whole kingdom that the infamous Ice Prince ran
away from the equally famous Fire Princess. I don't want my supporters to hear that, not when we just lost the first round of the games. I have
to prevent the morale of my team from sinking any further.

“Raspberry…" Yes, I call her that. I don't see her as a princess. To me, she's just a brat. A princess should be elegant, have a good control
of her words and emotions, humble, and kind which are everything she's not.

"Princess Raspberry."

"Princess Raspberry…" I'm just going to concede here. If I continue to be stubborn, this won't end. This is why I am also seen as a patient
and understanding brother. "Congratulations on your win. But don’t be overconfident... This is just the start…” I have to keep the pretense
even in front of her. Well, considering that she's my rival to the throne, that's to be expected.

“Good. And no, I’m not being overconfident. Neither do I plan to be complacent. But it doesn’t change the fact that I won.
By a large margin too. What does that mean?"

Keeping my mouth shut, I just look at her. I am too tired to even react from that provocation.

"If you still don't know what it signifies… You're hopeless… Hmm…" She twirled her fingers around the ends of her silver hair and acted like
she's thinking very hard. "I'm feeling generous now so I might as well tell you. Simple. It just means that my faction is a lot stronger
than yours. I am so intelligent to arrive to that very obvious conclusion unlike a certain someone here." I have to keep myself from rolling
my eyes. Really, she called herself intelligent. Who's famous for being a dumb princess again? "Also like you said, it’s just the start so it’s
the best time for you to withdraw from the games and revoke your claim to the throne because you have no chance of winning. Get that
through that thick skull of yours." She walked closer, lifted her right hand, and used her index finger to poke my forehead.

"So back off now, Nut spy." She said with so much spite and hatred, I can even see the fury in her red eyes. The ruby-colored eyes
which are proof that she really is of royal blood. The ruby-colored eyes that I don't have.

“You’re still underestimating my resolve to lead this kingdom if you think you can make me back off from just that. And I'm not a spy from
the Nut Kingdom! Yes, my mother is from Nut but we’ve been living here since I was a baby. I grew up here. This is my home! I will protect
it from anything and anyone that tries to harm it. And that includes a dumb and incompetent princess that wages war only to satisfy the
nobles’ greed and her own and does not think about the well-being of the common berries! Also, why are you trying so hard to convince me
to back out of the games if you are so confident that you'll win? It can't be that… you're afraid of me?” I just spoke straight, without pausing
or stuttering. No worries, `cause it's common knowledge that the Ice Prince talks like a normal person when he is angry. I'm not angry, just
tired to keep up the façade. But even though I'm tired, I still have to act like the benevolent and patriotic prince I am supposed to be.

"Well, well. Looks like someone is angry and suddenly defensive. Did I hit a nerve, Nut spy? Afraid of you? In your dreams, brother dearest.
And I think we both know who currently is pissing his pants right now `cause he lost miserably." She's being awfully more aggressive and
sharp-tongued today. "And oh please! Can you stop acting like you really care about the kingdom? What's the common berries' situation got
to do with a spy like you, anyway? You sound like a joke. Too bad `cause I'm not laughing. Oh wait, I forgot you want the throne. Of course
you have to act. Silly me." She knocked the side of her head with her knuckles. Seriously, that move made her look dumber. She's still
smiling when she suddenly stilled. I think I know what's coming.

"Wait. Did you just call me incompetent? And dumb?! You called me dumb?! You are the one who is dumb for aiming for the throne and
opposing me! Why is an inferior dumb berry like you calling me, a superior berry, dumb? Obviously, your eyes can't see that the berry
you called dumb is a being of intelligence and magnificence! You're not just dumb, you are also blind! Blind prince, dumb prince!
Bleeeeh! Baka, baka! Baaakaaa!"

I massaged my throbbing temples. Her annoying high-pitched voice combined with that dumb and bratty attitude. Ugh.
I think I'm going to have a headache.

"Princess, it looks like you are going somewhere. I won't delay you any further. Goodbye and have a safe trip." With that, I turned my
heels and walked towards my chamber ignoring whatever she's saying or rather, whatever she is shouting. After opening the door,
I immediately went to the closet to find a comfortable set of clothes to change into, not like this stifling formal one. After changing I
plopped down on my bed and closed my eyes but even after a few minutes, I still haven't fallen asleep. If I can't sleep then might as well
do something productive.

I walked towards my desk and inserted a key to open the drawer to get some parchment. It's time to write my monthly letter. After writing
the greetings and pleasantries, I proceeded to write about what happened and what I'm currently feeling. I also ask about her life and
anything interesting that happened to her this month. Afterwards, the parting words and talks of love.

"Sincerely, from your beloved, Blueberry." I folded it neatly, put it inside an envelope, and sealed it. And now, for the address.
"Imperial Capital, Nut Kingdom."

I added the other details, put the letter inside the drawer, and locked it. As I sat there, I remember that I still have many documents left
unread and there's still that meeting with the supporters tomorrow. Ah, it's times like this that I wish I have an aide so he could go in my
place to meetings and appointments I can't attend. Yeah, I think I should really look for one now. He would be a great help for me in the
current games. Speaking of, my thoughts drifted back to the games and the throne. “The throne. I can not let that dumb girl steal what
belongs to me, the Crown Prince. I'm going to be king.”

Princess Raspberry

Talking to those nobles are really enjoyable and interesting. Whenever I mention something that could potentially increase the large sum of
wealth they are hiding inside the chests beneath their equally large estates, their faces would transform from being innocent and amiable
to greedy and nearly drooling faces. I love seeing those expressions just as much as I loathe the owners of those faces. What is this
love-hate feeling? I love seeing the expressions because it just shows that they are being pulled to my pace, and sooner or later, under my
control. What if they're just showing those expressions to make me think that they are being put under my control? Then it's going to be a
game of waiting and seeing and acting and playing along, where the victor is one who had more tricks, patience, useful allies… and pawns.
Luckily, I don't have to worry of all nobles being smart because more smart nobles equals more berries to be wary of, more berries that
could possibly discover that the dumb princess is just an act. That's why I am also grateful to those nobles who have little to zero brain
capacity because they most likely won't understand the intricacies of the other smarter nobles and mine's plans. They are just moving
based on their greed, just like how most men move as dictated by their dicks.

Ah, those greedy but gullible nobles. So pitiful, they're just going to end up being used by others or being used by the 'dumb princess'.
Sometimes I can’t help but feel an unnecessary feeling of envy towards them because they are so carefree and naïve that they don't have
to think about anything besides protecting, how to spend, and how to make more money. Their life basically just revolves around money
while mine… I remember the days when it's just father, mother, brother and by brother I mean the First Imperial Prince, and then me.
Those days were the happiest and the most peaceful ones. Gone were the days when I used to only think about what food I wanted to eat,
what games I wanted to play, and what dolls I wanted to have. These days my mind is always occupied with work concerning those annoying
nobles, the war, and the growing unrest among the common berries. Throw into the mix an annoying little piece of shit, oops I meant Nut,
who thinks that he has the capacity to rule the kingdom. I still can't believe Father, may he rest in peace, made him the Crown Prince,
disregarding the opinions of those at the court! What about me? I am more capable than him but why him? He could even be a spy of the
Nut Kingdom! I don't have any evidences yet but I really think that he is a spy of Nut.

Speaking of the devil, I can see him walking towards his chambers, maybe? I think he saw me too because he stopped walking and appeared
to be waiting for me. Oh? Not going to avoid me today? Well, he would certainly look like a sore loser avoiding further confrontation if he
avoided me today. And I would also definitely make use of it to further whittle down his faction's morale by spreading rumors about it.
Haha. Wise move, Nut spy.

“Greetings, Prince Blueberry." I said as I moved towards him until we're at arms length. "You look pale. Did the games exhaust you?
Maybe you should just rest and give up the next round? You might be crushed again and then you’ll look even worse. My, my, we don’t want
that, right?” Obvious fake, concerned tone coupled with a mocking smile, most berries would be riled up by this but he is still perfectly fine,
his face showing no emotions at all. I've always harassed him like this at every opportunity I can get but ever since we were thirteen years
old, I have yet to see him without his Ice Prince mask on. He is a tough Nut to crack. Haha. Who knows if my harassing is effective or not in
thawing that ice cold exterior to show his true form? If I succeeded then lucky me. If not, well at least I tried. There are still many other
ways to expose him.

“Raspberry…" And he has always called me like this! I don't know if he's just underestimating me, or this is also part of his plan,
or maybe he's really just an idiot spy, but he really dares to call me without my title even at court and official meetings!
Hah… Father, you really made a grave mistake in choosing him…

"Princess Raspberry." If he continued to call me without a title, I would throw a tantrum, I mean 'dumb princess' would.
Let me see if he wants to deal with that right now.

"Princess Raspberry…" Oh? It seems not. Hmm.. Maybe he is tired? Isn't this the perfect chance?
He's tired and maybe he'd lower his guard a bit. That is enough for me, for now.

"Congratulations on your win. But don’t be overconfident... This is just the start…” He's still talking like that? Isn't it tiring?
Pausing at every eight syllables? Uwah. Is he a masochist? But he said don't be overconfident to me when he sounded overconfident himself.
This is just the start, what? He thinks he is going to win next time? Or at the end? Heh, like I'd let him. I won't just sit around and watch.

or anyone. Even if it's him. Especially if it's him. "But it doesn’t change the fact that I won. By a large margin too. What does that mean?"

A provocation. With an underlying meaning that he lost simply because he is weak, his faction is weak. What can he do without the help of
the nobles? It's not like I am underestimating the common berries but having the support of the common berries who thinks it is not good
to have a king who is a Nut native boosted with the nobles' resources and money really makes a big difference. I look at him.
He still has that calm poker face on.

Folding my left arm to my chest while my right hand's index finger is twirling around the ends of my hair, I continued. "If you still don't know

stood up straight, and again acted like I have already come to a decision.

Time to act as the aggressive, dumb princess. It's show time.

you have no chance of winning." I declare as I walk closer to him until I can hear his steady breathing. "Get that through that thick skull
of yours." Then for an added effect, I poked his forehead using my finger and used a bit of force so that his head moved back a little.

"So back off now, Nut spy." I spat with so much venom and hatred that even I am surprised with myself. I wasn't supposed to say that. I know
that that was not acting anymore. I couldn't hold myself back from expressing how much I hated him and his mother. A failure on my part.
I let my emotions take control of me. Not good. I am starting to panic. Calm down, Rasp. Calm down. This better not happen again…

Just as I was about to chastise myself, I saw his back straighten a bit and his eyes widen and darken before returning to normal. It was
only for the briefest of moments and if I am not standing this close to him, I wouldn't have seen it. Prince, it seems you haven't noticed it
yourself. Too bad for you, because I did. Ah, Prince Blueberry, who would take a dumb princess's accusation so seriously? Only fools like her.
And you did. It must mean that you're either a fool or that you're hiding something that is related to Nut or that you really have direct
relations with Nut. But I think you're not a fool, only less capable than me and what just happened is a proof of that. Well, I also did a little
blunder there but it's fine now with such a big discovery. This confrontation is my win. Again. I mentally congratulate myself.

temples. Seems like he had enough. Oh well, I'm getting tired of this too. We might as well stop here.

"Princess, it looks like you have somewhere to go. I won't delay you any further. Goodbye and have a safe trip." With that, he turned his
heels and walked away. "Bakaaaaaa! I hope you trip and fall face down on the floor, baaaaaakaa!" He's ignoring me. Oh well, I guess this is
enough for today. Better head to where I was supposed to go before I got side-tracked. I walked towards the palace entrance and went
inside the coach that was waiting for me. Inside, I changed my clothes into simple ones. Then I got off of the coach, blended into the
crowd, and changed coaches a few times to avoid being followed.

As I was in my last coach travelling in silence, I remember the other thing that I was supposed to do. Look for a loyal and capable aide.
I declined getting one before because I couldn't trust anyone aside from myself. But I think I really need to have one now. It's very
exhausting to do things like this all by myself when I could just hire one to do it. My thoughts were interrupted when the coach suddenly
pulled into a halt. I looked out the window and saw a nearly tattered and broken down shop. Seems that we have already arrived. I put a
veil to cover my face then exited the coach and proceeded to enter the shop. Herbs, body parts of different animals, and many other
disgusting things are placed in jars that are lined up in shelves. The owner noticed me and asked what I was looking for. "Can you give me
the same leaf as this?" I asked as I unfolded a cloth and exposed a piece of leaf." The owner looked a little startled. Not that I blame him.
Anyone who is found out having it is thrown to prison. Why? Because it's the deadliest leaf known to berry after all. Where one could die
just from having skin contact with it. The shop owner looked at me, sighed, and then went at the back of his shop to get what I asked for.

As I was waiting for him, my thoughts went back to that prince. "The throne. I can not let that Nut spy steal what belongs to me,
the true heiress. I'm going to be queen."

Prince Blueberry and Princess Raspberry are both looking for a loyal and capable aide to help them. The job of the Royal Aide
is to assume the duties of the Royal Berry when the Royal Berry is not present. He/she will be the one to guide and lead the
team. The Royal Berries will choose which among you is the most fitting to be their Royal Aide. They will send you a message
first and you will reply if you are up for the job or you are declining the offer. Once both of them already has one, an
announcement to reveal the chosen ones will be made.
