The original Hanamaru didn't have much of a plot to begin with...it was mostly just cutesy slice of life. Probably just more of that. Fine with me!
It's fine with me too but I meant season one dealt with Yamamotokami's past what will they do for a season two?
Especially since....Katsugeki turned out to be pretty good.
It could just be a series of one off episodes without an arc, now that they have "tested the water" and know that people will enjoy it (if Katsugeki is successful presumably people who watched and liked it will be interested in Hanamaru too).
I know a lot of people complained about the focus on Yasusada so maybe this time they will try and avoid too much focus on a particular danshi. Or maybe they will just do something similar with different sword backstories? Maybe the Toushiros since that's a broad "group" that could cater to many people (although they featured prominently in S1 of Hanamaru...). Maybe Mikazuki, he is quite popular and the mascot after all.
It was always odd to me that they went for Hanamaru first instead of Katsugeki. If they wanted to broaden the appeal to people who aren't interested in the phone game, I would have thought Katsugeki would get more people interested in a fluffy slice of life, or like I said, get them interested enough in the characters to go on to consume a fluffy slice of life. But maybe they just aren't interested in or don't need to broaden its appeal?
Edit: Hmm, now that I think about it, if they had the story planned for Katsugeki which doesn't focus on Kashuu or Yasusada, people watching Hanamaru after and it focusing on them might have felt weird. Or maybe it was just the length of production that dictated the order - what do I know.

Actually, I didn't mind the focus on Yasusada and the other Shisengumi swords...though it does seem kind of redundant to focus on them again in Katsugeki, even though it's the Hijikata swords(and Mutsu).
Honestly for season two of Hanamaru, I'd like to see more of the Dategumi and Kasen, but I'm prejudiced...*shrugs*

I can kind of see why: Hanamaru can be more for the game players who would get all the injokes about the various swords...while Katsugeki just focused on a certain group because it's ufotable...and most anime fans know who the Shisengumi were.
