Your yuri/yaoi "misconception" is but one example, you do this a lot. You have a thing against people that enjoy long running series (100+) as well, and actually seem personally offended that anyone dare to have a longer attention span than you. You can't make such a strong judgement on something, positively or negatively, when you've never even experienced it. To do so, is to have a misconception, or at least not a real image/idea of whatever it actually is.

And you do usually accuse someone of murder if they're holding a knife and there's a body, and a shit ton of blood... It's only the natural response.

In regards to this context, I don't think we as anime fans are the ones to blame directly. Rather, I feel like the matter revolves around the shows themselves. The fact of the matter is that there is a very thin line that separates hentai from some ecchi (which again is thanks to the creators greed) and a lot of the time, the only thing that differentiates between the two is whether they actually show a sex scene or not. A controversial topic like this is always going to attract attention, and misguided assumptions to follow (fanservice=ecchi=hentai) no matter what we anime fans do. However, I do feel like we as fans can indeed 'fan' the fire by embracing all the fanservice and ecchi memes like we seem to be doing.
