Is there a sad anime that didn't make you that sad?

Some anime are set up to have a sad ending that brings out the emotion. However, in some cases, like myself, some sad anime just didn't get to me.

For example, I just finished watching
, and I know that I should've been basically bawling... but nothing happened...

I've seen just about the whole thing up to that point, but... I felt nothing...

Does anyone else ever feel this way about certain sad anime?

A lot of anime actually try to make you sad, but they always fail because they barely put any effort into the characters and the story.

Anime isn't sad by default.

That being said the oh so sad Your lie in April wasn't sad at all, didn't shed a single tear.

How should I know if I can click that spoiler tag of yours?
I don't know what anime you put there, so I've no way of knowing if I can actually open it because I've seen it or that it will spoil me because I haven't.

Probably, Your lie in April. I thought AnoHana was more sad compared to it.

Angel Beats ,
Lots of people say the ending was sad but for me , I didn't really feel it.

Angel Beats! Everyone kept telling me how sad the ending is, but I wasn't sad at all. Maybe it's because I didn't care that much about the characters.

Akame ga Kill. Because just because you give spotlight to a fodder characters for 1 episode to kill them the next one with emotional music playing in the background doesn't mean I will care for them.

What is sad in
????

As for the topic. Sadsturbatory garbage just pisses me off. It's a cheap play for the emotion-whores.

Clannad, Anohana, Shigatsu etc.
They made me realize that an anime only has an emotional effect on you when you don't read the comments from fanboys, about how emotional and sad it was, before. Also when it's more than just Slice of Life.

AnoHana, I guess. I just felt like the show was trying to force you to cry instead of actually making you do so in a natural way.

Usually, I don't like sad anime pretty much as a default. Of course there's a few exceptions though. They are usually the ones I felt fit the show or weren't entirely depression-inducing.

Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica.
I liked the story, it is actually a really tragic one, but strangely it didn't make a sad at all.

I hate watching sad anime mainly because I'm a sympathy crier. So if there's good, sad background music I'll tear up no matter what.
But (please don't kill me..) in Grisaia with their back stories, those are apparently sad but I just thought it was pretty dumb. Also the same with the second half of SAO II where it's supposedly the saddest arc but really didn't feel it at all.

For me, I can choose when I want to cry or not. For example if people are next to me and I don't feel that I am pleased to cry in front of them, I won't. That said, Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso wasn't that sad. Compared to Anohana, it made me cry automatically. Can't help... ;'(

Pretty much the same as every one else AnoHana and Your Lie in April didn't make me shed a single tear and I cry very easily. Personally I wasn't very touched by Clannad either.

Anime that have made me cry recently are Rakugo Shinjuu and 3-gatsu no Lion. They are too real.

The only anime that I think was trying too hard to make me sad but failed miserably is Plastic Memories.

Other sad/drama animes I remember were subtle and didn't focus on it which made them good. But Plastic Memories, just for the title itself is plain obvious what's the story all about. It killed the drama right from the start.

Thus far, basically all of them.
I have minimal patience for feelz-bate (Intentionally butchered the spelling there, don't worry about it). Such shows/films tend to end up in the lower parts of my rating scale.
