| I don't like the constant commercialism of Valentine's Day, but I had an okay time this year! I don't have a boyfriend or girlfriend, but I went to Denny's to get pancakes with a plushie of my husbando. I usually just spend Valentine's Day with my family. My mom bought all of us some slightly expensive Italian food. I baked the family a heart-shaped cake in response. Best cake I've ever made! The point is, I feel like the holiday is what you make of it. We make it about family. Others make it about friends. Some make it about treating oneself. They're all beautiful ways to celebrate if you feel like celebrating it. Things don't always have to be just one way even if it's not considered "correct". Everyone's so different it'd be a shame if everything ended up the same ways. Don't worry OP, one day you'll get a gf/bf and you'll see that it's actually even worse for couples. I once went to a Lebanese restaurant one Valentine's day that was around the corner from where I used to live. Although it was a good restaurant it was almost always empty (relatively expensive, unusual cuisine for the area, secluded location) but when we turned up on Valentine's day they had to bring the smoking table in from outside (deck chairs) so my partner and I could get a table. It's honestly the least romantic, most unpleasant day to do anything with your partner. So I normally suggest doing the same thing on the 13th, or the 15th. But women being women, of course that's never going to happen... |
