I can understand why some people won't like her, but I absolutely love her. She is a piece of shit that I wouldn't mind stepping in any day of the week. She's so unapologetically cruel, jaded, cynical that it's a pleasure to see her flouting social contracts and conventions, making faux pas and deliberately taking advantage of people.

10/10 anime. 10/10 character. There are too many humans in the world.

I know someone who has the exact same personality as Gabriel, so I can't really sympathize. Umaru, however, is a piece of unrecyclable trash that manages to clog the shredder all the way down to the incinerator. But do I find either cute? No.

EDIT: The manga is pretty much manzai comedy, with little character development, so if you enjoy these sort of gags (I certainly do) give the manga a shot. The characters, including Gabriel behave more like a stand-up routine.

I'm of the complete opposite opinion. Gabriel acts sort of like an imageboard or internet forum user, and can be quite relatable.

Umaru on the other hand, waving her fucking... what, maracas? Chugging down her coke makes me want to punch a hole through my monitor. She looks like she belongs more on Nickelodeon alongside Fanboy and Chum Chum than anywhere else really. Trash tier character imo.

I agreed with you at first. Then you said she was only funny in episode 1. If anything that's when I found her the most annoying and gradually have come to accept her. I don't like Raphael but she never annoyed me like Gabriel. I love both the demons.

I do agree with Gab being unfunny at all however I believe that she's actually intended to be unfunny to the viewers while the other MCs drive the show.

Pretty unique concept for me though. Would watch more of this show.

This anime is slowly going to oblivion. Episode 1 was a good start. But after that, episodes get weaker. Even a beach episode is plain simple.

Vigne is the only reason I still watch this. I think it's better if she become the main heroine.

Raphie also, very much a bully wannabe, I did hope to see more of her trollish nature, but for now there is nothing much, Vigne is your everyday nice girls, yes they are cute but that is all about it, they are not interesting as i expected... Satania is very OK.

Firstly, that's your personal opinion. Comedy genres are subjective point so whatever you find it funny I can't find it funny at all. It's simple as that.

Second, I don't really agree with you that Gabriel is annoying nor funny for the episodes that I watched at least. I think what makes her work in this show is how she's pretty much the opposite of how she's intended to be as an angel, same with Raphiel. And for Vigne and Satania being a bit of the opposite, this is pretty much a good character dynamic, where it showcases these characters aren't what they're pretty much intended, and that's what Gabriel stands out compared to Umaru (because it's the same staff).

Third well... this is more of a personal point but I can relate to Gabriel a lot more than Umaru. Umaru is just a girl that does perfect things when she's in school, which isn't something I can relate with her because I'm a lazy ass fuck person, so Gabriel aims more towards being lazy on both ends, and heck there were some things even further that I can relate to her.

If it wasn't for the fact that Gabriel DropOut had different character dynamics per each character and the fact that I can relate to the main character further then the show wouldn't stand out on its own way, hence why it will probably be below every other SoL shows this season. But hey, my opinion of course, you don't have to respect it but I will give my two cents.
