Similarities between Yoshiaki Ide(Baby Steps) and Kikumaru Eiji(Prince of Tennis)?

Quick Review:
This is the only sports anime which does not have an awkward romance. The confession was kinda boring but cute and come on, they don't let chances slip away unlike most animes out there. I know it's a sport anime. I just like it's realistic emotional setting.

Maruo Eichiro is a combination of Ippo Makunochi (Hajime no Ippo) and Inui Sadaharu (Prince of Tennis) for me. Learning as beginner with his genius techniques through writing.

Only realized that it never showed or mentioned any doubles match or game.

Yoshiaki Ide and Kikumaru Eiji resemblance:
I find it sad when I like somebody in an anime so much and sees him in other anime. Like, my favorite tennis player is Kikumaru because he can play singles and best in doubles. Fun and cheerful. Then, the moment I saw Yoshiaki's smile,I was like "woah, if Eiji was his reference, I'd be terribly biased" and it kinda ruins my mood for the anime. When Ei-chan faced him as an opponent, I am being drawn to Ide cause he really really possess the character of Eiji because I can't help it but see him in Ide. Eiji is also a playmaker with his acrobatics and love for attention.
Is it just me? *die hard fan of kikumaru and p.o.t
