I'm a straight female.
Don't mind yuri, wouldn't particularly choose to watch it, but it's fine if it's a minor part of the story. It can be really cute sometimes too.

why would they like yuri if they are straight ?
It wouldn't mean they like it. But they wouldn't be disgusted seeing it. All of the girls I know have tongue kissed other girls but they aren't into girls. None of the guys I know have ever kissed a dude not even on the cheek. I think you can see where I'm going with this.

that's not how it works

female who kisses a female on the mouth = lesbian

period.

No. It's called experimenting which alot of girls do believe it or not. My point is straight guys don't do this but straight girls do (obv not all)

Math is always the best way to symbolize complicated human relationships, amirite?

Yuri is often equally degrading as BL is. Basically, the biggest problems being smut, which is glorified porn, and the other one being characters defined by their sexual orientation. Naturally, I am only referring to anime and manga where different sexual orientation is of some importance. Usually, it's just hetero harems having a token trap/gay guy/lesbian, for the lulz.

That being said, it's ok as long as you admit that what you're watching/reading is purely fap fuel. Just refrain from bringing in some sort of LGBT agenda in something that was never meant to be a good ground for it.

Maybe not 100% straight, but not lesbians or in to girls either. Girls are more "desensitised" to sexuality.

Straight female here and.. I don't really mind? Defo not a yuri fan, but if there are yuri hints, or girls sharing an intimate moment, or hidden relationship between girls, I don't get repulsed or anything. It's quite cute as it is... so :)

One of Kinsey's first reports found that 37% of men have engaged in homosexual and heterosexual sex. They redid it in the seventies and found that it was actually 36.4% because they thought 1 in 3 was a tad high.

Boys were more likely then girls to experiment with the same sex back then. I'll have to see if I can find any current studies. It'd be interesting to see if it's changed over the years.

What seems to be so difficult to understand about that? It is like liking to watch war films but you wouldn't want to be in the war yourself. Or finding people eating insects interesting but you wouldn't want to try to eat them yourself.

I don't believe that for a second, where was this study conducted? In prison? Even if those numbers are right they definitely don't reflect anything close to the real number (outside of the study group i mean)

personally, I find it quite nice.
romance is romance for me, and any type is nice.

and Haruka and Michiru's relationship was AWESOME <3 My first exposure to yuri, and thats how I came to love yuri and yaoi. And my first yuri ship.
Something like in the snk manga is also sweet.

Though what I don't like is boob grabs in echhi, thats not pure yuri. And any show, either yaoi or yuri with very strong sexual content is not preferable for me. Some is fine, but most yaoi anime focus on the sex and stuff, I don't like those. Those aren't for me. I'd rather take fluff than smut.

That's apparently the vibe I'm getting, but it's just not so.

I'm female and straight, and I've never had any problem with yuri in my anime. If its a compelling romance or even a really nicely animated scene, I'd be as really into as I would be in any other anime scene that featured the same.

The only thing that bothers me is that 99.99 % of the time it's two hentai lolis who kiss and I hate those

Can I have some examples? For research purposes, of course.
The only show that comes to mind is Prisma Iliya and its sequels.

I thought this kind of topic and OP seemed familiar and I was right - you're that guy whose thread was once closed already because you were trying to convince everyone that girls who liked to watch yuri were all, by default, lesbians. And lo and behold, you're trying to do it again rofl

Like one guy already stated - your 'simple math' has very little to do with complexities of human psyche and relationships, let alone all their sexual preferences. Things are rarely as black or white when it comes to human beings.

Also, to reply to this thread (once again lol) - I am a straight female but no, I don't mind yuri in a non-yuri anime. It's not something I would actively seek to watch nor it's something I am interested in, but if I'd see it, I'd just shrug, accept it for what it is and move on, as long as it's not detrimental to the story or character development and doesn't involve a hundred stupid cliches.

I'm straight and female. My opinion:
Yuri doesn't affect me in any way. I could watch it just as easily as any other genre. (Yaoi on the other hand....😏 XD)

Then there's the thing about many saying most women are technically bi. Scientifically that's true.
Women are able to express themselves to each other more intimately than guys (for example, we hug each other more than guys and it's easy for us) so the lines of intimacy gets blurred. Like Two straight women could even get physical and not consider themselves as lesbians or bisexuals.
Hence, Yuri doesn't bother or disgust us. Neither do we see it as something "different" or something that takes our attention.
(Tbh it kinda bores me, coz I really wanna see regular romance....or even better....Yaoi! XD

As a straight female I don't really mind as yuri scene in non-yuri anime is usually rather tame and scarce anyway, so I simply ignore those scenes and enjoy the story instead :)

It's not anime related, but my little straight sister has a collection of lesbian works of various kinds and is still straight.

I'm a guy and I don't find yaoi repulsive and I'm not gay or bisexual, I'm just an otaku who loves Queen's Blade and monster girls and hates censorship.

There has actually been surveys ran to find demographics of yuri fans and yeah some are straight girls. Majority are males or females attracted to girls though.

Most of the time it can be annoying because they are over sexualités to appeal the male viewers. I actually like yuri as well so I have no problem with it, but usually in non yuri anime it’s done in such a vulgar way most of the time. Like girls fondling each other in a hot spring, being sexual in front of ML, or forcing themselves on each other. Yuri is also usually much more sensual and while it still does appeal to male viewers it also has way more appeal to the female viewers than the forward.

I'm not straight so I'm not qualified to answer but I will hazard a guess anyway. I usually find imagery of cis lady x cis man boring, but not disgusting. It just isn't my thing. I so would imagine that usually straight gals would simply not be particularly interested in yuri imagery or plots. Then again, not every yuri is the same and not every straight girl is the same who chances are there's a spectrum between them finding it somewhat interesting or cute and being disgusted or uncomfortable.

@Sherlupin I'm asexual (not sexually attracted to any sex or gender) and I'm not interested in dating, but I like romances no matter what sexuality the characters have. As long as the story is good and I like the characters I'll watch it. They don't need to have my sexuality for me to enjoy their romance. It's a story, I'm supposed to experience something different than my own life and that's what's enjoyable about it.

The ones I know don't really mind yuri, probably 'cause they ain't as insecure with their sexuality as males who vomit at the mere sight of an implication that two male characters might like each other as more than just friends.
Who are you and why do you show your hostility towards a complete stranger whom you've not once spoken with before. Are you seriously asking to get blocked? Well, if that's what your intent is; to tempt me into throwing hands with someone as lowly and insignificant as you, then i may grant your wish provided you articulate yourself a bit better when trying to spite a person of my wavelength.

It's more to do with "lesbian literature" being more niche of a thing than all the stuff in Japan and there not being a single word search term to look for papers and surveys as easily. Likely the papers and surveys on yuri in general also include light novels.

I could give two fucks about a yuri scene. Honestly, most girls don't really care about shoujo-ai/yuri fan service, so I don't know why guys get so dramatic/repulsive about a little man service here and there. It's like its attacking their manhood.
CayOfDreams said:

That's because it is. Toxic masculinity and homophobia have strong links. Calling someone gay was treated as synonymous with calling them feminine until recently.
