Read a manga that has inspired or been adapted to cd drama
Read a one-shot (*) - It must be a one chapter story, not one volume

For a manga adapted to cd-drama I went with This because it was the first one I found that wasn't Yaoi. You could give that a try. If you're OK with Yaoi you should have no trouble whatsoever finding something, there's tons out there.

Crows....might work? Idk if japanese high school deliquents/yakuza/bike gangs is "japanese culture" enough.

Densha Otoko sounds nice...But I am supposed to say what aspect of Japanese culture it represents....what should I do about that? I am pretty sure that Train molestation doesn't count as an integral part of Japanese culture.
Anyway, thanks for the recommendations....You were a big help.

2chan is a part of japanese culture

Also no where does it say the word "integral". It just has to be present in japanese culture. It's a country that employs woman-only trains due to the prevalence of the molestation problem. So i'd say it's certainly enough of a part of japanese culture.

Onani Master Kurosawa also works, in case you don't want to read a shoujo ai story.

@The-Third-Kira The one you got recommended assumes that you finished the Visual Novel (which I recommend to anyone, by the way) and, as far as I know, it's not completely translated. You can try the quoted rec.

I'd say this category is fairly hard to deal with as well. For example, an workplace/office comedy or drama doesn't necessarily count as a discussion of Japanese workplace culture, but it definitely could count. Seems kinda subjective tbh. Honestly as long as you think you can make some kind of case for a series you're probably OK.

Either that or take the easy way out and do something folklore-related.

Thanks...I really like Densha Otoko so I am going to put it down as a part of Japanese web culture.

Hi, can I get a few recommendations? I am looking for manga that captivate you from the very beginning. I tend to drop manga if it doesn't interest me. I am open to any genre, except harem, ecchi, etc and high school settings. Romance is okay as long it's not the main focus

Gon is similar to Blame in that the story is primarily told through the art. Show don't tell sort of thing(In Gon there are actually 0 words in the entirety of the series, as opposed to Blame which has just very very limited dialogue)

Sidonia no Kishi is the same mangaka as Blame and I thought it was much better.

You liked Death Note so you might like other "keikaku" series such as Liar's Game(finished), Kaiji(all but the first series - which is covered very well by the Kaiji anime- is fully translated), One outs(same author as Liar Game I think, it's completely translated from after the anime but on like the first volumes are translated so you'd have to read some stuff, then watch the anime, then read the rest, kinda like Kaiji), Usogai is about half trqanslated and still scanlating.

Monster is also loosely similar to Death Note and considered by some to be the best thing ever written.

You might also like some death game stuff such as Gantz(mature audiences only), Mirai Nikki, Rabbit Doubt, and Imawa no kuni no alice(finished translating today)

I need help with #11,#41, and #62 but my restriction is everything has to be BL (unless it is impossible to find).

Also, is bullfghting an art form or a sport?

#11 Ashita no Kimi wa Koko ni Inai
For #41 I'd recommend Tadaima Okaeri since I'm sure the child is considered a main character although MAL haven't updated the characters yet. Unfortunately, it's still ongoing. If non BL, there are Aishiteruze Baby, Love So Life, Usagi Drop etc

Can I read Zetman for challenge 26? (26.Read a manga based on a one-shot that got serialized)
Zetman is based of a oneshot in this collection of oneshots, does this count?

Hi everyone! I'd like a rec for 60. Read a manga recommended to you by another Manga Reading Challenge participant in the discussion thread - preferably yaoi and/or slice-of-life romance and under 30 chapters, please!

Also, a question: what does "Read a manga ranked in the top 1000s" mean? Are we talking 1001-1100 or so or 1-1000? Or 1000s-5000s? I'm confused. (I need sleep.)

If a top 10 is from 1 to 10, shouldn't a top 1000 be from 1 to 1000.

As for the yaoi/SOL recommendation i'll suggest "Sorenari ni Shinken Nan desu." or "Hanaya no Nikai de"

I'm a bit confused about a challenge.

62. Read an active staff member's favorite manga

Well, I randomly picked a fav manga from Touka; Nana. The issue is that it seems that Nana is actually on hiatus. I want to know if this manga is valid or not for this challenge or another one?

(Looking in Nana's details the status says "Finished" but in synopsis says "This series is on hiatus." and idk..)

49. Read a manga centered around folklore or mythology: Donten ni Warau

On the subject of ongoing manga, is it alright if I'm not up to date with scans for a series I'm collecting physically as long as I'm caught up on the books that have released? I don't really like reading scans for series that I'm collecting, feels like defeating the purpose of buying the books. Sometimes this'll mean getting ahead of the scans too, if a series was dropped after the license.

@nekoneko I'll remove the S at the end of that challenge, it does make it needlessly confusing.

@LilGreasyKid I'll look into that, wait a bit.
EDIT: That's weird @LilGreasyKid I can access the image just fine and the website doesn't give me any errors right now. It may be that it's temporarily rejecting your IP address or when you accessed it it was temporarily down.

Either way, I recommend that you save an image copy to a device if you need to check it often. Alternatively you can use the EXCEL spreadsheet and write in your bingo card number (#62) and it will give you a list of the challenges included in that card.

That feel when the random generated word you get is "violation", and all the recs in the predictive search are Hentai... Sorry but I'm gonna have to reroll that shit.

On another note, anyone has a rec for entry #60 ? Something that has finished publishing, preferably in my plan to read list, but no sweat if it isn't.

@Gwadzka: Shi ni Itaru Yamai. If you want something completely different, try out Kuro Kishi Monogatari. Both are Seinen.

Can someone give me some underdog recs for

I haven't read much manga but I have #69, which requires that I read something related to something I've previously read. Is it okay to use something I finished in the challenge period, or while doing the challenge? None of the things I've read in 2016 have anything related I can read.

If not I can switch to a different pattern from my current one (Checkerboard), but I'd rather not.

Anything related to something you've read previously, even if it was during the challenge/for the challenge. As long as you read something, then read the thing related to it, it counts. So let's say you read Blame! for a different category, you can then read Noise and cover that box.

31. Read a manga centered around folklore or mythology
44. Read a manga that deals with something related to Japanese culture
49. Read a manga centered around folklore or mythology

and possibly one for 60? Someone did recommend me something but I can't find the complete manga.
I prefer action/crime stuff but as long as their isn't a lot of romance I'll pretty much give most things a go.
Thanks in advance ^^
