| Thanks for the event!! Well, first i guess i'll give a feedback for the event first. event feedback: it's fun and entertaining. You know, that feeling when curiosity takes over? I got that kind of feeling when the event is up! I know all the elfs are half dead i guess when working in this event but it would be nice if you guys could do double check on what the participants likes and dislikes are. Hence, i don't know which one of you gave which image tho XD Well for the gift with blond character, there's a tiny message written along with it that say sorry if that wasn't what i was expecting. And to be honest, it is not. It is better than what i have expected because it really surprised me XD. That's a funny image tbh and it reminds me of Cabbage,.. uhm.. I'm sorry, i mean Cavendish from One Piece Lol XD. It really made my day! Recently I've been trying to get into Shoujo anime and Ao Haru Ride was a great one to start with. There were parts I didn't really like, but the parts I enjoyed were more and the anime wrapped up quite nicely. |

| So, first of all, I would like to thank the MAL staff involved. This was perfectly managed considering all the work in this busy times (holidays, finals, etc). So thank you for all your hard work. @InsaneLeader13, thank you for your rec! I read it and although it's not what I'm used to it was very sweet and easy to read. So thank you :) @Staktaz1, thank you for your recs! I'm halfway through the main one and it's hilarious. It reminds me of Azumanga Daoih. Loving it so far. As for the other two, I've been hearing about FLCL the last couple of months so I was already interested in that. And I didn't know the other one, but I would definitely check it out. ;) |

| Okay so first of all~ huge thanks to all the elves and head elves that participated in this event. This was actually my first time doing it this year both in helping and participating, so I will admit that I was not accustomed to how it worked and what went into it. It truly was such an enriching experience, and I feel so lucky to experience it. Everything done in the process involved such love and care with the systems put in place, and the people who helped were full of energy and enthusiasm to maintain it. I was so amazing, and honoured to be a part of it. I was also very impressed with how much work the santas put into their gifts, and it made me so excited to have a peek what a fraction of the community is like, and it really makes me happy to be a part of it, truly! Now on to my lovely santas who spoiled me rotten this Christmas (I'll tag you in). Anime Recs distributed by Elf-Chama Firstly, thank you to Elf-Chama for the setting up and distribution of my gifts to others, and from others! @_Ghoul_ @Kineta I was very surprised to see someone spoil me rotten by giving me 3 recs instead of 1. Honestly, it made me so excited! I been in kind of an anime slump lately that I had too much to watch, but yet felt a bit overwhelmed where to start? So I entered in hoping that I would gain some guidance here. I was recommended 3 animes that fit my tastes in all the areas so I can tell my santa really thought of me various range in tastes which really meant a lot to me. I have only completed 1/3 so far, mainly because the other 2 I couldn't track is on my Funi/Crunchyroll app that I use. I have watched Haibane Renmei and it was really a fun unravel. At first I wasn't sure how I was going to adapt to watching Slice of Life elements, but I became really interested in the world and how it worked that it reminded me of a Studio Ghibli film was like. The artstyle was really pretty too, and I found the Angel-like theme to be so befitting during the season as well. I was very touched with the story with "finding yourself" and your place in a strange world (so mostly like a coming of a age which is a big weakness of a theme for me), and seeing the bonds of the people around them grow. I thought it was a bit sad, but yet really happy at the end of it. Thank-you so much for rec'ing to me to whomever you are <3 I'm also planning to watch Bacanno! and Princess Tutu soon. Bacanno! has been one that one of my rl friends has been hitting me over the head with because I'm weak to mystery themes, and love the retro setting it takes place that gives it such a charm. I been meaning to purchase the dvd of it on a sale, but it never happened so I think I'll stop waiting and find a means to watch it. I hope I can give you my thoughts of what I think about it when I watch it very soon since you put so much care into rec'ing this for me. I'm also pretty hyped to see Princess Tutu, especially since I ended up using her character in a mafia game I hosted (magical girl crossover themed), and when I did a skim of her biography, she sounded like a character I would enjoy watching. I know I can't expect deconstruction stuff like Madoka, but I am always pleased when there is depth to be found in themes I enjoy. I think this one will be a pleasant watch, and hope to also relay my thoughts since I'm an avid nerd when it comes to what I watch! I've only watched the first couple episodes so far, but I can already tell that you were right. I enjoy the mysterious setting and the main characters are awesome :3 On that note I want to give you a recommendation, too. Based on your rating of anime containing mystery, fantasy, action and riddle elements like Chihiro, Higurashi, Shinsekai Yori and Fate/stay night, I think you'll like Baccano!. I don't want to go into details here, just give it a shot! ;) @OfLove111 - Dear Santa, I like how you even gave me two manga recommendations. You're awesome! I've actually been wanting to read Gangsta. since finishing the anime, because I think it anime didn't really live up to the shows potential. The ending was terrible and some scenes lacked details. I hope the manga will do things better. I didn't come around to reading it yet, but I'll tell you once I do and I hope you'll be in for a bunch of heated chapter discussions :D The same goes for Death Note. I think your recommendations were both spot-on! It also brings our community together on a large scale, which is fabulous. I imagine you've had quite some work to do, and I appreciate every second of it. That's why you should start earlier next year, so that you elves have more time doing all the work. I don't think there'd be any downsides to it. Just announce the event a week earlier, maybe even two, so that you can gather enough elves, as I'm sure there'll be even more participants next year. Also, based on your experiences this year you could state how many elves you expect to need when announcing the event. That way, maybe you can find another bunch of awesome guys who'd like to help out. How about rewarding those brave souls with some kind of special badge or something similar to the dancing snowman next to MAL supporters' forum avatars? That'd be a nice way to say thank you and further motivate people to become elves. Anyway: Thank you so much for this experience, all of you! It was my first project in a while, was really nervous on how it would turn out. xD @Cigarette Hope you enjoyed Aldonah.Zero! After doing a little more research, I came up with a few series you might like better: Akatsuki no Yona: You will probably like this one - similar to Kamisama Hajimemashita being a shoujo anime with its romance elements, but set in a historical time period with a bit more action. Ansatsu Kyoushitsu: A personal favorite, it's a shounen anime with a focus on action and comedy. However, season two really puts out the feels toward the end. Overall, a series to chill out to and laugh (or cry) along with. Katanagatari: Material arts action anime - the romance comes a bit later on in the series. Episodes are also twice as long as your usual anime, but the story is well-told. Has great OPs/EDs. Nurarihyon no Mago: Another action shounen anime, this time with youkai. The storyline is well thought out, and there are some romance moments in the show (just a few, though). Katekyo Hitman Reborn!: I've barely started on this series myself, but as a shounen anime with a plot I'm find very similar to shows such as Naruto (weak MC -> journey/powering up -> wrecks face), you might want to give it a try.
