Just to give us something to do I thought I would start a poll.

Personally Persona 2: Eternal Punishment was my favorite. I really liked all the characters and the atmosphere for the game.

I'd say of the 4, Persona 3, cause I really got into the characters and story a lot, and I dug the laid back atmosphere to it. Persona 2: Innocent Sin is also my fav, cause the themes and the story were just incredible. Great music and cast too. Really shows the power video games can have as a medium if they actually try to tell an emotional story.

I'd go with Persona 3 as well. I loved Eternal Punishment, but it was an acquired taste. Persona 3 drew me right in though. It's so addictive.

Innocent Sin by far, it had my favorite cast of characters (Go Eikichi!) and music to date, as well as an epic story.

Well I've never finished Persona or Persona: EP and never got the chance to play Persona: IS,but I did play and beat Persona 3 and had a really good time with it. So until I get some more experience in the Persona universe I'll hold off on voting.

Although I have Persona and Persona 2.. they don't wanna work with my PSP so I didn't get to try them out.. so for the time being I'll choose Persona 3.

*Also is it just me or does it seem like every Shin Megami game has the same plot.. just goes about it differently*

Well some of the basic concepts get used a lot but I think that Nocturne had a really different plot compared to say Persona 3. It's not like Michael Crichton books over done.

Ok I could understand audio-visual, but how in the heck are the PSX games lacking in game play? If anything they have much much deeper game play then Persona 3.

As of now, I will have to say Persona 4.

However, that is my choice prior to finishing Persona 2 Tsumi and Persona 2 Eternal Punishment as that those two games are much more popular. Although the games lacked fully voiced-dialogue and the graphics, as well as the battle system needs major improvements. On the contrary, most of the original Shin Megami Tensei games don't have voiced dialogue to begin with.

Once I finish the P2 series, I will post again. I somewhat don't like the endless number of random encounters which is a necessary requirement to level up the characters and persona for the boss battles but even so, what makes this game's battle system any different than Nocturne's? In Nocturne, you don't do anything except fight random encounters so often that it is like the only feature of the game..

I've only played P3 e P4, but I find pretty amazing Persona 3. It just came to be one of my favorite games. I can't say the graphics are that awesome, but the story if quite interesting. Besides that, I can play it over and over again and I never get tired of it.

Persona 4 by a long shot. I'm currently playing SMT:Persona (remake of Revelations) and I admit it was different, but when I thought about it. It was a game ahead of its time when it released. I have played Persona 2: Innocent Sin but I stopped when my PS2 broke down. (Beat P3 and P4 before that happened)

(getting sidetracked)

Anyways, I liked Persona 4 simply because of the social links. The story was easy to follow with twists here and there... and it was easier on myself since I was a sucker for the MC of P3 and couldn't stand the sad ending.
Persona 4 is warming, friendly and it brought out a sense of envy when I saw how the friends got along and how strong their bonds were.
The other things that I found interesting were the cast of main characters. Kanji, Naoto and Rise were indeed an interesting bunch. Kanji with his identity and finding himself. Naoto and her burdens. Rise and her brake from the entertaining world. Everyone one of them had this public and celebrity face, but they also harbored a more personal thought about themselves and their situation. Same goes for the rest of the group. But they were indeed the biggest stereotypes that weren't stereotypes.

Persona 3 was my first Persona. I loved it, but not as much as I did Persona 4.

Persona:Eternal Punishment. The adult cast was more relatable to me, besides, my favorite character in the entire series, Katsuya, is one of the main guys :3

The story in both EP and IS is masterfully woven and one of the best RPG stories, on par with stuff like Xenogears and Xenosaga. It has everything: mystery, psychological trauma and manipulation, political intrigue, multi-faceted characters, supernatural phenomena, and Nyarlathotep is hands-down the best villain in the series.

Even with the lack of social links the gameplay is better, more varied and far deeper than P3 and 4 with the the demon recruitment and summoning system, all the fusion spells waiting to be found, and there are even way more spells and attacks which makes the battle require more strategy and thinking.
