| This episode was so crazy that I went and looked up the characters and the tea pot. This episode is really funny once I understood the history behind the story.....and the tea pot. |

| Matsunaga Hisahide was an on again/off again buddy of Oda Nobunaga but the year of this episode, he was at war with him. Oda shows up and lays siege to his castle. When it is apparent that Oda is going to win, Matsunaga commits suicide and orders that his head be destroyed so it can't be taken as a trophy by Oda and his army. Matsunaga's son grabs the head AND the teapot.....and jumps off the castle wall to commit suicide. So actually Oda didn't get the head or the teapot (which is said to be priceless in value and coveted by Oda). Meanwhile at the end of the anime the rabbit (Akechi Mitsuhide) is shown to be Oda's friend. The rabbit actually was for about 5 more years.....and then he killed Oda. Now stick with me here...it will all make sense soon! Remember in the beginning, when Oda and the two friends sneaked in the castle? One was a monkey and the other a beaver(?). Well, the beaver and Oda were eating dinner at the rabbit's castle one night. The beaver insulted the rabbit about the dinner tasting terrible. Oda (the bird) broke all the rabbit's priceless porcelain dinner ware as punishment for a bad dinner. Soon thereafter, the rabbit betrayed the bird and killed him and his army. Now how is that for crazy? |
