Made upon a request from @Hinata.

nextMAL : What should you watch next?

You know when you're looking for an anime to watch, and you start looking through your Plan to Watch list, but then realise after 30 minutes that you still haven't decided?

Just let a machine decide.

nextMAL randomly selects an anime from your Plan to Watch for you, so that you don't have to waste your time trying to decide.

This website is also Mobile Friendly. The design and functions work even on my iPhone 3GS, which has like 320x480 screen size (although, a few aesthetical things don't work pretty well on screens smaller than 1280x720....)

Feedback?

I have tried it back then and what I could say about this nextMAL, I think it's quite helpful to me (and also to the others here as well).
According to most of the results, I might ended up watching some anime movies first, since the school holidays have just started.
Anyway, it's such a good and helpful additional feature. Keep on keepin' on doing it!

Well that is great, I won't use it personally because I pick muh anime not randomly but who knows I may actually use it at some point if I ran out of idea or just won't have a specific mood, anyways, keep it up, you're doing a great job on MAL.

It would be cool if you could also select a random anime from the different genres listed on the website.

This isn't really a random anime generator. It takes your Plan to Watch list and then chooses a random one from there.

@psychedelic_bee
The website, as in nextMAL, or MAL? If it's MAL, yeah, they're the genres, but if it's the ones on nextMAL, those are the tags that you set when you put them in your list.

I could implement this feature (searching by tag/genre) but I want to keep this project simple without any geeky settings, so I'll probably keep it as it is.

Wow, I just love it. A very useful feature. Most of the time I don't know what to watch next because I have like a hundred of PTW anime in my list.

I have used it recently and while it doesn't really work for me a bit due to my internet being super slow, I did gave it a shot, and it's actually a pretty good feature if anyone would want to go and pick something from the PTW without really thinking too much. Great job of course.

It shouldn't show the "not yet aired" anime, no.

@Takana_no_Hana
Great!

@SymphoniacTippy

Tried it out for the first time, quite nice, gave me Youjo Senki.

I decided to click the 'try again' button a few times, and it would often give me OVAs, ONAs, specials and stuff that isn't online yet (which is why I have them on my PTW and not completed list), so I thought maybe it would be nice if you could add an option to filter those out and only leave TV shows and movies. But of course, it's possible to just keep clicking 'try again'.

It's supposed to only take Airing or Finished Airing ones, regardless of OVA or ONA...
Maybe some stuff on MAL marks them Airing when it hasn't started yet.

Isn't it better to develop the idea as a browser extension?

Anyway, consider me interested. Any chance of it being in GitHub?

Stuff like https://myanimelist.net/anime/34533/Nanbaka_Special has already aired, but just isn't online yet.

Those would be hard to find, because it already says "Finished Airing", and everything on MAL makes it seem like the episode is already available...

Ahh, well that's unfortunate, guess I'll stick to the 'try again' button.
