And it’s not. Democracy is hard work. In the United States if 43 percent of eligible voters do not vote, then democracy is weakened.

What he said was that protesting was okay . . . Which under the constitution it is. Albeit he definitely should have noted that HOW you protest is important, and that what those protesting Trump are doing is not always okay.
