I don't think it's misogynistic or child porn. These women are owning their sexualities and using it for their own goals. Like I, for instance, have tits and an ass and I can do whatever I damn well please with them. The same goes for these characters. Also, as has been echoed in this thread, the characters are all adults.

You'd swear feminism was on par with Nazism with the way some people describe it.

Honestly this seems to respect women more than most HS based SOL shit. The entire plot isn't center on some fucking boring ass every-man every-guy who, despite his youth and prior problems who still seems to have the answer to absolutely everything right when it's needed. There's no self-insert to drive the power-fantasy-white-knight-in-shining-armor. And I say that's a good thing. Even in a show in which the male lead is just a stand-in love interest he still manages to warp the heroine's personality in ridiculous ways.

The problem, as I see feminism has is when certain ideals limit and are enforced by others. A woman has every right to "act like a girl" in this day and age, it becomes a problem when she's being pressured by society to play that part against her will and to her own detriment (barefoot and pregnant.) The one thing I can always agree with feminism are "options." No ideals that consistently imply a heroine, a good girl, the good girl should and would act as a timid maiden as soon as falls in love. She can be proud and excited to explore her sexuality.

Sorry if this post sounds muddled I'm a tad burnt out since it's 5 am in NYC.

Crazy feminists. Just ignore them

Also, child porn is illegal only if the characters are real, not when it is cartoon drawing

You should quote the article so we don't give these people traffic.

Also another point that should be mentioned is this is set in Japan. The characters are Japanese. Japanese people (or Asians in general) all look younger than westerners of the same age. Saying that these 18+ year old girls look like children to appeal to paedophiles is retarded since they are 18+ and they are Asians so them looking young is an accurate portrayal.

No children. No porn.

At least according to the definitions of my country: Children are <13. 14 to 17 is "youths". (Porn with them still would not be allowed.)

But there is no porn. They aren't even showing completely naked pussies or dicks.

And regarding pedophiles: They usually ONLY like children that are very young. (Prepubescent - this is important! For older people that are still younger than 18 there are other terms like hebephilia and ephebophilia.)

So even 17 would be too old already for real pedophiles. (And they usually like real girls and drawn animated stuff shouldn't be a problem ha ha.)

The only issue with this is that characters in fiction don't get a say on this.

Characters do what they do because the writer wants them to.

Now this show does make it clear these girls have a drive to do it, but because of how they rushed past the earlier stuff we missed out on the character part of why they want to do it. At least from the two episode I saw before I dropped the show that was in the manga.

Also this isn't child porn, not even close.

Nope not kiddie smut. But while fictional characters don't have to worry about personal liberties they often hold power or give power to their creator to use them as a vehicle for certain ideas or to renforce others. The ideal of women being seen sexually is by itself not a problem. The problem is when they are seen as sex object whom only exit to please men. In which their safety, mental, or physical health takes a backseat because "she was asking for it."

I'll write more about this but this head cold is killing me.

This is why we are never ever allowed nice things. Only reason why Keijo is child porn is because of its popularity. Someone said earlier that all it is is the price we must pay for making animu mainstream.

Just waiting for a 200 dollar Keijo booty mousepad and vita game.

Well,if you have watched my review of Keijo. You already know I hate Keijo, due to the unnecessary fanservice drama.

But I don't think Keijo is child porn...Come on,they're already like teenage-looking,how come people saying this is a child porn, nonsense.

But I don't think they're gonna ban this show, since it's pretty obvious that this is not child porn,so Keijo's fans, you probably don't have to worry.

But in either ways,I'm gonna drop this show anyway, haha.

This is true, this show isn't really awful in terms of disrespecting women or making them object.

However the reason I did drop the show was due to the show in a way still treating them like objects in the sense I never got any character with the girls or any attempt to do such took a backseat to additional fan-service.

It's a problem I see with a lot of fanservice shows. This one at least has absurdist fight scenes and methods to carry it with good animation. So I wouldn't say it would be like High School of the Dead where I hated how that show handled it.

This one, I can see why people would like it. If someone say these characters are objects, I can see that as well because any character development is taking a backseat to more fanservice.

Maybe this changed in future stuff but honestly, it looks like a problem I have with most fanservice shows.

>> However the reason I did drop the show was due to the show in a way still treating them like objects in the sense I never got any character with the girls or any attempt to do such took a backseat to additional fan-service.

for me, I've read the manga (at least up to the english scanlations) before the anime aired, and the characters' behaviors and personalities are consistent, easily identifiable from each other.

>> This one, I can see why people would like it.

a lot of people who don't know the manga/anime tend to think that the ecchi is the anime/manga's main attraction, but (at least in the manga's case, because the anime's still airing) if this were the case, people would soon forget the manga, because the novelty would wear out, and with no other qualities to keep readers interested, it wouldn't be any different from other ecchi.

So, why, more *exactly*, people would like it? At least for me, the longer matches are intense, very enjoyable to watch, the pace is fast (in the manga, at least), the players constantly try to adapt and outplay each other, the author is very creative in how matches play out and in what the characters can do, the playing fields are well varied, the characters (and most of the better characterized opponents) are likable, the story is nice to read, and then there are bits of world builing, training, character interactions, character backgrounds and comedy (and the manga is rich in parodies, even in its fights. Aliens, Terminator, 300, Madoka, no one is safe).

I'm all for equality and all that jazz but honestly, the Anime/manga industry isn't the place for this bullshit.

If she's offended by Keijo, wait till she sees hardcore hentai with ahegao, NTR, females being called MESU BUTA and used like toilets and made to shit and eat shit like in that one hentai (I forgot the name) where she was tossing some old man's salad and he gave her the gift of anal, chocolate pudding.

The matches imo, are what makes this show stand out from other ecchi. Yeah it's really really really stupid but it makes it awesome in terms of presentation and as an absurdist comedy.

What doesn't work or sit well with me, is the fact this show cut out key character moments that I know were in the manga for additional exercise scenes that just didn't do anything for me and made me bored.

They stand out with personalities, but it's simple and I know little to nothing about them. I think episode 3 drops the main girl likes money point

I know I am asking for character in ecchi, but when Food Wars can make me like the characters and in turn like the fanservice more. Why can't this show do that?

- Miki lures Nozomi to the narrow areas so she can take advantage of her lower half's superior strength without having to deal with Nozomi's dodges
- (manga only) Nozomi figures out a weak point of Miki's Ass Hurricane and hits her ankle, then escapes from the pincer, just like she planned and said (she also said it to Miki in order to buy time so she could recover from Miki's hit)
- Nozomi figures out how Kawai's KO attacks work and quickly comes up with a countermeasure and entrusts herself to that judgement
- (manga-only, in the anime it seems to happen offscreen) Kawai sees that Nozomi is guarding her chin so she hits her solar plexus instead
- Nozomi closes the distance between her and Kawai so she can't use her KO attacks, Kawai manages to escape

and that's just from the first episode. Maybe you're seeing the matches as stupid, but I don't know how the decision making could be considered anything even remotely close to stupid.

>> What doesn't work or sit well with me, is the fact this show cut out key character moments that I know were in the manga for additional exercise scenes that just didn't do anything for me and made me bored.

The anime is adapting chapters 35 through 87 (the first episode refers to even earlier chapters) into 12 episodes, an average of over 4 chapters per episode. Chapter 35 is a good starting point for the anime, chapter 87 is a good ending point; about the Hip Toss arc, I like that arc in the manga, however in the manga, the arc takes quite a lot of time of Nozomi trying to bond with Aoba, then Aoba phoning to her elder sister who explains (to the readers) about Aoba's speech complex and tries to convince Aoba to not be so defensive, so that Aoba eventually realizes (during the test) that the reason Nozomi was able to understand what Aoba was trying to say (without saying) is because Nozomi did spend a lot of time trying to know her (to the point that Nozomi noticed that Aoba pays attention to a lot of things, so her ponytail stands out, allowing others to see where she's looking at). It would've cost quite a lot of time in the anime (having Nozomi hang around Aoba before the test), and further compress everything that happens after that arc. There wasn't enough time for such a buildup, in 12 eps.

>> They stand out with personalities, but it's simple and I know little to nothing about them. I think episode 3 drops the main girl likes money point

in the first episode, Nozomi told Miyata that she felt really frustrated for losing (losing badly, as she puts it) in the entrance exam's mock race, after she has put so much effort into trying to win, and in the third episode, Nozomi said that she didn't want to feel the same way she did in the mock race. (In the manga, it's also shown that she believed she needed the VBC in order to stand up against the elite class members, since each of them also have their own "unique weapons", in her words)

>> I know I am asking for character in ecchi, but when Food Wars can make me like the characters and in turn like the fanservice more. Why can't this show do that?

I haven't watched FW, and I think I can't answer the latter question, because I've read the (Keijo) manga before the anime aired, so I don't know how it is to have only seen the anime adaptation of it. For me, at least, who have read the manga, they do have likable personalities, they're likable characters.

Let me re-clarify. The show is stupid if you take it seriously, I didn't so I had a lot of fun with it. I think the fight scenes are amazing.

As for adaptation...wow I didn't know how much material they had to work with....which kind of frustrates me more knowing they cut more out for more exercise scenes. The show does fine on what fan-service it does have.

As for the Mozomi stuff...ehh I guess? It just didn't stick out for me.

Still, I don't think this is a bad show by any means. It has an audience and it clearly knows how to animate it's fan-service well. It's not for me.

If I turned on the show, the lowest I would give it is a 4, but I don't see myself rating it higher than a 7...maybe an 8 if I really got into it more. But who knows, my friends might make me watch more of it and I can figure out where I fall with this show.

2 episodes in and mostly I understand some aspects of why people wouldn't like this show.

It's people like this who helped Trump get elected. One day they may finally realize that their incessant whining and protesting are only making things worse.

Glad this turned into a constructive discussion on the portrayal of women in fiction instead of the mindless all feminists must die they are trying to destroy all men bruhhh from the first posts, cause that was fucking pathetic. Thank you QWERTYFish and RedRyu, at least there are some decent people left on MAL ^^

But the protagonist is 17...

The girl on the right with white hair has the underdeveloped breasts of a pre-pubescent child.

"child porn"

i agree if people said this is a stupid fucking shit anime but for calling this a child porn, i think that's wrong. unless it would be stupid for a person under 17 or 18 watching this anime and got caught by their parent and then their parents start to said that this anime is the cause but actually the person who was watching this anime is at fault.

and they said this is child porn because they still think animated film or what they called "cartoon" are still for kids but actually in this fucking god damn era, animated film or what they fucking said "cartoon" are already being watched by many viewers above 15 or even 18 or maybe even above 27. and im not gonna say 15 is a child unless he/she's below 13.

pls people....just fucking pls...
pls stop being stupidly sensitive like shit. i know you don't want to watch this kind of shit or hate this kind of shit because it will turn your mind upside down like it will turn your mind so dirty. which is why you avoided it. but if it's for yourself, and if other people watch to watch it then fuck off and pls don't be like or acting like you want to erase this genre or this type of shit. it's their own problems if they, for example, got caught watching this shit, moreover on the lewd scene, by their parents. they are at fault, not the medium.

tbh, im not trying to say that im a maniac when it comes to this type of shit, but i just don't like when people are saying that this anime is wrong and should be erased but actually it's the watchers fault. the medium is just trying to entertain people ABOVE 17/18. there is already an info about the age rating. if you below it and still watching it, the risk is in your own hand.

Link in 1st post isn't working anymore ...

OMFG!!! i think were on the same boat dude.........
im just kidding, this is actually not my type of anime but i totally agree with the fact that its not child porn because its aimed at 18+. however one day i was so curious (naughty face) that everyones been so praising this anime so i decided to check it out for myself. i was just just introduced to the series withought even a warning about the age restrictions. so it happened so sudden that i was dragged into this profanity world of shameless little girls. Imagine this being live on tv and there was little kids just waiting to discover a new anime storyline infrfont of the screens and this pops up so sudden. this show is actually just one floor beneath hardcore hentai.

1) There is a reason not all anime gets shown on western television. There is sexy stuff, there is disturbing stuff, there is mind-boggling stuff... all sorts of things that muggles are not ready for.

2) From what I know about Keijo, it's far from the most un-showable thing.
Have you ever seen the first half-episode of Elfen Lied? It mostly consists of a teenage girl, naked except for a helmet, ripping people apart with her telekinesis. Later parts of the anime cut down on nudity, but not on bloodshed and violence.
Have you seen Kodomo no Jikan? The main heroine is an oversexed elementary schooler. Sure, children probably would lose no sleep over that, but what if they tried to imitate that?
The way I understand it, these anime are shown late at night on Japanese TV, when children are sleeping. Some western TV channels show porn at that time.

3) Frankly, after reading Keijo's description, you should have known what's inside. Reading the description is always a good idea.

4) Anime has its share of pornographic anime featuring prepubescent little girls (Little Monica was pretty good). Why do people keep attacking anime that are not remotely as bad as these are?
Is it because they're outsiders who don't know anything about anime? Probably yes. You never read a good attack on the fact anime tends to use teenage girls and boys for most of its sexual and romantic needs. But it's an obvious target to anybody who understands anime.
