Today I tried to watch a few episodes of Wangan Midnight, to find out I have no idea if I ever finished it.

On other hand I powered through Black Lagoon after that, at times speeding up but anyway.

The mental difference was huge...

I do hate watch some shows from time-to-time, generally if they're 13 episodes or less since I try to give everything at least 6 episodes before I make a decision on it. This has usually led to me finishing series since by that point I'm "close to being done" that I suffer through the parts I don't like for the one shining part of the show.

If it's longer than 13 episodes though I drop them if I'm bored sick. I think there are only 5-6 shows I've dropped before reaching episode 6, a lot of them came before I made my account on MAL and I've naturally forgotten their very names.

I can undestand people thinking of it as a chore when they have such a shit taste.

And that was the worst joke ever.

I'm genuinely curious as to why one would do this.

Isn't anime watching a hobby, not an assignment? So why would you watch a show that you think is shitty, especially if you're not even paying attention to it?

The only reason I can fathom is that you want to finish a "bad" show so that you can artificially lower your list's average score, but that's kind of a silly goal, I'd think.

Besides, Yuyushiki isn't that bad of a show. It reminds me a lot of Nichijou, which I see you haven't seen (the 1 episode "prequel" isn't representative of the series). But let's not start that debate...

In my case it's called being a good animu fan - watching both good and bad shows for the sake of completion, judgement, and lastly enjoyment.

It did feel like that at one point, and that's when I realized I needed new anime to watch. I'm happy now with SnK, Hatarku Maou-sama, and the new stuff I'm getting.

For some reason, even though it's kinda enjoyable, I feel like watching a new episode of Aku no Hana is a chore. Only before I start it though, it keeps me entertained. *shrugs*

Why would you, in the first place, make yourself suffer and watch an anime you dislike?

That's pretty much how I feel watching Persona 4 right now. Hope it gets better later, these first episodes I don't like so much.

If I don't like it, I move on to another one and will come back to it later. I try to keep the chore feeling to a small amount.

Because I'm a completionist. I tried watching Nichijou one time, and yeah I started with the episode 0 and it was terrible. I'll give the actual series a shot sometime when I feel like it.

Cowboy Bebop, I don't understand what everybody sees about it and some episodes were downright stupid. But at least the ending was good.

Eeh, normally I don't have to force myself to watch anime, and if I do have to force myself, I tend not to watch it.

As it is, though, it's looking like I'm going to have to force myself to watch Chaos;Head, because that is like really not my thing.

FLCL. Promptly chose to never associate myself with it ever again after that final agonizing minute.

Robotics;Notes to an extent...I wanted it to be good. I really did.

I still don't get why somebody would force him/herself to watch it. But if you want to be a masochist or a 'critic', then whatever.

This is a good case of why people think fujoshi are annoying.

Endless Eight.

To its credit, I was multitasking after the third iteration.

My friend is heavily into shounen anime. As a shounen anime lover myself, I cannot watch what he likes, he picks the worst ones too.

Anything 5-4 and below. Air and Chaos;Head were especially difficult. So much turd.

I feel bad though since quite a few people on here seemed to have enjoyed Air.

Effing FLCL. If it wasn't for the kickass soundtrack I would have dropped that shit after the second episode.

Akira. I know people liked it, but I thought it was mediocre. And no, not because of the animation. Yes, it aged like bad milk. Yes, the character designs were uninspired. But for the time, it was still the best thing about it. In the end I finished it just because. I heard the manga is better, which makes sense. I don't think adapting a manga of that size into a 2 hour movie was ever gonna work. Same deal as FSN: UBW, too much material to cover, too little time. (Or so I'm told, I've only played the VN).

Vampire Knight.

I don't know what the fuck I was thinking, but for some reason I thought I would enjoy the Japanese version of Twilight.

To it's credit, it's slightly better than Twilight.

Arcana Famiglia just because I was in mood to be a masochist and also Mondaji because it had a good score in the moment.
They went all horrible for me, they were forced by themselves anyway.
