Just wondering, if you saw a American tourist in your country, do you think "It's a America, he could be a gun freak, religious freak, anti muslim, etc."

Americans don't like us, and we don't like them. I don't hate all Americans, but i'm just saying there's no chance of one visiting here.

I'm Canadian born from Montreal, Quebec, Canada. ... The French province of Canada and when I went to a three day trip to New York, New York, USA I was hostile trying to protect my mother and sister when walking in the streets, haha.

I watch too many movies. I was around 18-19 years old at the time. Basically I came to the conclusion that (at the very least on those 3 days) Americans in the street are pretty normal and civilized ... Sorry I don't know how to explain it.

I learned that they can be cool and nice and not dangerous I guess.

... But I do have my opinion of some American stereotypes. The obese ones, gun control and their ego/pride.
Not like I want to start a debate so stfu. I realize your not all like that. Oh and religion. Etc.

My image of Americans are mainly positive. I have distant cousins who are Americans.

It's sad that they live in such a crappy system. They deserve better. Overall I think they are more open and hospital than Swedes are, however, Swedes are more rational and reserved.

Well, I never seen rhe gun thing as bad but I guess that is just me.

I don't really judge people at a first sight so until I have some experience with them I wouldn't jump into assumption straight righ off the bat.

I think america has better food and a greater variety, so therefore americans have a "better" taste in food too.

I am American, but when I was in Europe this past March people mostly just wanted to ask me about Trump.

Also had a drunk German guy tell me how "America is shit" because of what happened to the Native Americans. I could've brought up the whole Jewish thing but I just went about my business.

I find American TV extremely childish. I find a lot of their people act more like spoilt children than real adults and their news channels talk like our children TV presenters do to the kids watching.

Americans themselves seem diverse enough. I admire that some still have national spirit its not inherently evil to feel good about your country. It helps you defend the good aspects when they come under threat.

I like that they have real holidays and celebrate them full on. Sure they have lots of issues still, nothing really outside the norm of the west just on a larger scale since their nation is bigger. Negatives I'd say they're more polarized everything is turned up to 11 in America so everything is to an extreme. Seems it would be hard to find middle ground with Americans. Its both a boon to them and a hindrance.

Most American citizens ive witnessed seem very childish in a way, whiny sort of maybe its the accent. When we have Americans here you guys seem super expressive in your voice, whilst generally we seem to keep a more level tone Americans tone rises with their emotes. More character actor less subtle seems most emotion comes through acts and level of voice I guess just might be a culture thing.

Its weird I don't even think about it when watching movies but when you speak to an American in person the accent always seems so thick and noticeable.

I haven't met a lot of them personally, so I don't have a well-formed opinion. The only thing that all Americans I met have in common is that they like to ruin food lmao. I remember I had a lunch with 4 Americans a few years ago and they wanted to add ketchup to everything. When I saw them adding ketchup to paella, I felt dead inside xD

Well but... No words... Well us in French we did shit with Algeria too. And lost against Pruss. And Russia. And German.

Ehh I don't really think anything about them but if there was an American tourist in my country I'd try to talk to him and ask him a bunch of stupid questions cause it's really rare to see someone from a different country where I live ;-;

Every American tourist I talked to here was absolutely polite and sweet. Every time I went to the US, the only rude person I encountered was usually the border guard. And I guess he kind of gets a pass on being a little bit rude.

The first time I went to New York I was actually really confused at how nice and polite everyone was, especially after hearing all those stereotypes about rude Americans all the time. We met many people who were very talkative even with us strangers, and it wasn't something I was used to but at the end of the day it was still nice. If we had questions everyone was always happy to help too.

There are many views that the US mostly accepts (or strongly supports) as a society, and a lot of these I can't help but find really... outdated, to stay polite. And the power that religion still has over a huge portion of the population definitely baffles me. But a country's decisions and beliefs certainly don't reflect every citizen's convictions, so I usually try not to generalize too much.

Keyword: TRY.
Sometimes they make it a bit hard not to.

I live in America & even I dislike large portion of Americans.

Also that video is a bit misleading. They only showed the footage of people that are stupid. I'm sure out of all the people they interviewed at least one person gave them intelligent answers. Don't get me wrong we do have alot of stupid people here.
Still that stereotype is greatly exaggerated.

I'm American and when I went to England to meet up with someone I was given a few compliments about my accent. I spotted a few people there who had Americanised clothes on. What I mean is one guy had a jacket with city names on it and it was American city names. Another guy my dad spotted and said something about a sports team shirt he had on for a local area my dad was from and the guy had no idea what he was talking about. lol I was told that Brits want to be like Americans. Someone joked about some stuff like fat Americans with me and I just laughed. Oh and I also got bear hugged by a friend of my friend i never spoke to before.

Americans speak further back in their throat making them more muffled. I'm not sure how that would come off whiny unless you're talking about just girls in which case some talk that way but most I know don't. So I'm guessing you're getting this impression from seeing rich people visiting so of course they would be "spoilt" ( I have no clue if there is a diff between spoilt and spoiled). I noticed no major cultural differences. Only things are English are simultaneously more rude and polite at the same time which I'm not even sure how that's possible. Also people in stores don't hassle you as much there. If you went to the US and tried to go to a place that sells electronics or clothes you would probably be annoyed as fuck from how often people that work there try to ask you if you need anything, I know I do.

Oh shoot! Double pun. The pun was that we're "The Yanks" because we're wankers implying chronic masturbation.

Just realized the "eh" at the end also meets the puniness threshold though that's just something I do on a personal level and was thus incidental puniness.

Being an American myself there are many things that I find to be positive and negative.

I do feel the education has become less of a priority here as opposed to other countries but, that being said I've pretty much have been a hermit under a rock for the most part because of all the things that have been happening. I imagine in other countries if they saw an American they would probably laugh at them or something...

we are a fan of americans here in the philippines since they help us in times of crisis and war, too bad our current president is anti-american and he have 16 million filipinos that voted for him including me that im regretting now and im sure out of those who voted for him there are people that are not anti-american too, but majority of the 100 million people here are fans of USA especially the food (junk foods and shit) and entertainment side of things like hollywood movies although we mostly pirate them lel as well as clothing and any other culture side of things

I also assume that the stereotypes hold most of people's thoughts of us (burgers, guns, idiots, etc) Obviously they aren't true 80% of the time unless you head south, but it doesn't bother me much. I've always been a stereotype-breaker all my life.

Having lived in over 5 different countries, travelling to over 15 and having "kind of" a triple nationality (basically 3 passports), I can tell you that everywhere has its good and bad.

America - Everywhere is different its a huge country and can't be generalized, but one thing I can say is that as of 2016 it is probably one of the most culturally diverse countries in the world if not the most.

China - Everything is pretty cheap except foreign food and goods. Air pollution and pollution in general is pretty bad. Internet is INSANELY bad. Everything else is actually pretty decent depending on which cities you are staying in.

Japan - <3 Akihabara <3

Taiwan - Pretty much the same as Japan but hotter and more humid? Its so similar to Japan most people don't even realize, they just assume its "part of China", makes me die a little on the inside

Hong Kong - Pretty damn good place, although very crowded, the population density is insane.

Australians mocking Americans for their ignorance of international affairs? No irony here, folks.

My primary opinion of Americans, based solely on the billions of tourists here in Europe, is that they're very loud. I've never been to the US, but all I can imagine is a wave of constant noise. There's something about the American tourist's voice that drowns out all others. But beyond that, I find it difficult to come up with a generalisation: I've met a lot of American morons, and a lot of American brainiacs. I've met a lot of American twats, and a lot of friendly Americans. And they were all loud.
