Smarter? No I don't think so.
But my hobby does broaden my view on certain thing.
It makes me think more.

Watching anime doesn't make you smarter. If anything it makes you dumber.

My intelligence has significantly increased; I now know what "baka", "pantsu", and "oppai" mean.

Well... I've learnt a number of things from anime. New words, terms, etc. Which has overall been added to my knowledge... and I guess since that technically "has expanded my knowledge"... I'm smarter from watching anime?

So... yeah? lol.

LOL! No. Watching anime will not improve your grade or CGPA. IQ is overrated and meaningless. Chances are, your IQ improve for other reason.
But it's important to remember that a movie review is subjective;it only gives you one person's opinion.

It doesn't matter if you like LoGH,Monster etc.If you are a jobless or college/school dropout living in your mom basement, you are still an unintelligent loser. Taste in anime does not make you a better person. If elitist don't exist, casual pleb and shit taste also don't exist.

Do you feel more knowledgeable about certain topics after watching anime?

>took many online tests
>is intelligent

One of these is a fact. But only one.

There is a significant difference between being intelligent in general, which your first two sentences address, and being knowledgeable about a subject, which your final question is about.

I certainly feel more knowledgeable about certain subjects, but this is a natural consequence of having an interest in anything. If you play a lot of strategy games, you become more knowledgeable about strategy and tactics. If you read a lot of Dickens, you become more knowledgeable about life in the 19th century. If you watch a lot of ecchi anime, you become more knowledgeable about plot breast physics.

But none of these necessarily makes you more intelligent.

Apparently, irony is lost on you. I guess anime does make you dumber.

I don't feel any smarter, I think any higher test scores are down to inconsistency.
Listening to a foreign language and/or interpreting character actions would make you smarter though, I think.

Yeah I guess so, you learn a lot of new things that you wouldn't necessarily have learn if it wasn't for the anime that you were watching. One example that I think everyone has learnt from anime is that they use weird ass fireworks and then put them out in buckets of water.

Before I started watching anime I tested at around 140~ IQ.
Nowadays, after more than 400 finished titles and more than 100 days of anime, I usually taste around 160.

So yeah.

Yes, and no.

Hentai has taught me about sexual themes,
and anime in general taught me some philosophical things.

But I doubt Diabolik Lovers did anything to my intelligence.

Does being smarter in Japanese history, smarter in detecting Japanese phrases even if there's no subtitle and smarter in reading katakana/hiragana count? I'm basically smarter in anything to do with Japan. But the other than that my intelligence is still pretty mediocre.

I'm smarter, but that's because I began watching anime when I was like 5 so I'm older. I don't think anime is really responsible for much of this, but probably a little bit. I think most things can you make you a little smarter as you gain more perspectives and different ways to view the world.

In very slight ways I suppose...
A lot subjects in anime are based off of cultural stuff and other tidbits about the world around us, so in a way you're learning from a tangent. Minuscule at best.

Pertaining to Japanese culture and social norms for them? More than prior, that's for sure. I'm pretty sure Dragonball Z could make you drop a few IQ points if you watch it for too long though. I hear Abridged is safe though ;-)

I agree with the people who say they've developed better skills at analyzing/figuring out plot points, etc. It's made me a more active viewer but hasn't really taught me anything new.

On another note, IQ tests aren't a very good measure of intelligence. They're very fixed-mindset oriented.

IQ going up does not necessarily mean you're getting smarter.

I for one am of the opinion that I get dumber over time, yet my IQ still rises...
(have not had it assessed in 20 years or so)
