Personally, I really liked Lucky Star. I'm just a little curios on what people found boring about it, because a lot of people who didn't like it say it was boring. I get that some people don't like slice of life and have different taste but can anyone tell me what they found boring about it?

I liked it and I still found it boring. I'm confused now...
It's just so normal. It's not a bad thing. It's basically a series of conversations that could've happened to almost anyone.

Ahh that's true, a lot of conversations. If I remember rightly the first half of the first episode was just them having a conversation about how they ate a certain food.

well its a referential anime from 2007 so a lot of the references are old so new anime fans might not find it funny since they don't get the references
That could be at least one of the problems

When I finished ep 1 I was like:"That's it? 24 minutes of girls talking about food?" Just idk but that's like school, you just listen to teacher talking some sensless sht for a whole lesson. I kept on watching and it was quite boring but I wanted to keep watching it a little. I never made it past ep 4 tho. I think Lucky Star needs more crazy comedy and fourth wall-breaking. Somewhat like Gintama but still stay true to slice of life genre. I loved the characters and their designs despite all that ^-^

I don't really find lucky stars that boring. I mean the western style everyday jokes are good enough to keep me interested :3

Oh yeah, there's also the fact that the series only get truly good after the Weeaboo lord and Yuri goggles mangaka are introducted

I assume it's supposed to be a 3deep5me show since all the characters are really strange, but that's just my two cents

I like it but it's not really a binge watch kind of anime for me. If I watch too much of it I can get bored because it is a slice of life comedy. I can never get bored of Nichijou though. Absolutely hilarious.

I like Lucky Star, but it's not exactly the most exciting thing in the world. I put it on 'On Hold' but then eventually moved it to my dropped list because I don't feel like I'll ever pick it up again. I'm not really a fan of the characters or the character designs, and Izumi Konata would be on my list of most hated characters. It was generally boring since it's about mundane subjects and doesn't usually work to build tension or produce pay-offs, plus the comedy is more 'inside weak smile' (not even outside smile ._.) rather than 'laugh out loud'.

In my opinion, the best thing in that show were the Lucky Channel segments. Akira Kogami is by far my favourite character and would possibly be in my list of top 10, top 15 characters.

All I remember about it was an extremely annoying opening and a bunch of references that aged about as well as glass of milk left out in the sun

I don't hate Lucky Star, despite not really enjoying it. What I can appreciate is the fact that it never tried to be anything more than just a filler comedy show, and that it didn't take itself seriously. And it had a few funny/cute moments to boot.

I thought it was boring not because nothing really happened in it (after all, that's kind of what slice of life is about), but more that most of the humour didn't manage to make me laugh. I didn't really care about any of the characters either.

Pure referencial jokes, if you have not watched the things mentioned it sucks hard. For example, Haruhi is a must watch before Lucky Star.

Everything about Lucky Star is putrid and awful. The fact that it's an excruciatingly-dated referential comedy is the icing on the shit sundae.

And let's not forget the fact that its references are little more than just references with no setup and no punchline--just a reference for the sake of having a reference. Oh look, Konata's wearing the North High school uniform! LAUGH, YOU SHEEP!!

This glorious signature image was created by @Mayumi!

I am the Arbiter of Absolute Truth, and here is my wisdom:

"Anime was always influenced by the West. This is not news.
Shoujo is the superior genre primarily aimed at young people.
Harem/isekai are lazy genres that refuse any meaningful innovation.
There is no 'Golden Age.' There will always be top-shelf anime.
You should be watching Carole & Tuesday."

Pretty much this. And when they are not doing references, they're just talking about food nonstop.

Lucky Star's comedy is god awful. It's the same repetitive crap every fucking episode. I wanted to rip my eyes out while watching. If anything, the show was cute but that's about it.

This is also coming from someone who loves the slice of life genre.

Lucky Star is one of this shows that are good and boring in the same time. Like other things like that (Like Arakawa on the Bridge). It is enjoyable if you don't maraton it. Watch an episode once a while until you finish, and that way it can be pretty nice and relaxing.

Jokes are bland, repetitive and you have understand references. Too moe-sy. Even for a SOL there's gotta be more to it.

I barely got through the first episode. It was a long, pointless dialogue. Not only I didn't care, but where's the animation? Why have an animated work with so little animation?

A show like Lucky Star hardly needs ambitious animations though.

Love the show but I can see how it'd be dated for newer audiences (albeit I didn't watch it until a few years ago). Shows of its type tend to be much higher energy these days.

Dafuq, a Lucky Star topic in 2016?

It was probably one of my first cute girls doing cute things anime but I wasn't a big fan of the character designs, and still ain't. Some of the skits were amusing but a lot were fairy boring, which I'm sure was because of my lack of knowledge as a I wasn't too heavy in anime yet. Lot's of references to other series and Japanese stuff I didn't get.

Also people just riding the Aya Hirano and Haruhi train.

Lucky Star is one of those shows that you either love or hate. I have a friend that absolutely despises it.

As for me, it is one of my favorite shows of all time. I love the characters and I am huge slice of life fan. However, I can see why other people don't like it or can't relate.

I actually think the only time Lucky Star gets some semblance of *boring* is when a lot of the second cour shifts focus to the new cast of underclassmen. And even then I still like those characters, they just aren't as good as the core cast.

Sorry, but I'm not the type of person who thinks another show being name-dropped just for the sake of referencing something is funny in and of itself.

It slice of life. A lot of people find the entire genre to be boring, not just lucky star

Though I did really enjoy lucky star

Why make an anime without putting effort into the animation?

I'm about 75% done with the series and the first few episodes especially episode 1 just felt boring and I'm a big slice of life fan.

With that said the series drastically improved and became much funnier as it goes on. I'm glad I decided against dropping it.

KyoAni is my favorite studio and I love moe slice of life anime, but for some reason Lucky Star bored me so hard. One of my friends said it was so funny, but it wasn't funny... the only thing that made me laugh was Lucky Channel and Akira.

I dropped it after 10 episodes.

Lucky Star was the only anime ever, that made me skip through parts of episodes just to get it over with, because I was bored out of my mind and nothing happened anyway.

It's a show where you can watch the first episode, then skip to the last and you wouldn't have missed anything.

Unfunny references, unfunny talks between characters, unfunny main characters, uninteresting backgrounds, uninteresting characters, uninteresting character designs, shitty color palete and probably much more that i don't remember.
If i had to compare it to something, it would be to Devil may cry 2, a game wich doesn't have anything interesting that makes you want to keep playing and just drags on and on. There's not even ironic enjoyment out of that souless, empty, desperate atempt at cuteness.
I rather get cock and ball torture than watch that putrid show.

I made a deal with a friend.
He watched the first Jojo's series (phantom blood and battle tendency) and i watched Lucky star.
Needless to say, he got the better part of the deal.
