At the end of the talk show segment in the one-hour special of TV anime Orange, the cast members announced that the series will be receiving an anime film. Titled Orange: Mirai (Orange: Future), the film will have a limited two-week screening throughout Japan starting November 18 with tickets going on sale October 14.

The film will be narrated from the viewpoint of Suwa, as he continues to support Kakeru and Naho's relationship. It will also feature an original story written by the series' original creator Ichigo Takano, which takes place after the events in the manga and TV anime. The tagline in the key visual reads, "Since that day, I've always wanted to show those two this future—."

The cast members and production staff will reprise their roles in the film with Naomi Nakayama as the chief director. The ending song of the TV anime Mirai by Kobukuro will be reused as the theme song.

Orange began its serialization in Bessatsu Margaret in March 2012 before switching to Monthly Action magazine the following year after returning from a hiatus. Crunchyroll simulpublishing the manga digitally in English in January 2014 and Seven Seas published two omnibus volumes on January 26 and May 31 in 2016.

A live-action film adaptation premiered in Japan in December 2015. The first half of a two-part spin-off about future Suwa titled Orange: Suwa Hiroto will run in the December issue of Monthly Action magazine on October 25.

I wonder how will be the movie, though I don't think it's going to be very exciting considering the main problem was already solved in the series.

The film will be narrated from the viewpoint of Suwa

Suwa deserves this movie! He wasn't fully expressed throughout the main series, and I hope this movie will conclude that.

Great, ending of the manga was lacking some closure as well, and since it's written by Takano-sensei I'm really satisfied. Gosh, I'll probably die out of broken heart when seeing Suwa's point of view ;_;

Still, I'm more excited for upcoming two-chapter manga about Future Suwa <3

I am glad I didn't watch the TV series as it wouldn't change my opinion about the manga, which isn't bad by the way. I am also planning to stick with this: Hiroto Suwa (Mirai) and not watch the movie.

Very curious about the film. I reviewed this at 7 because it was kinda cool but hit a lot of shojo tropes, not bad.

I found Suwa's actions the most interesting of everyone else because he was the only other character that had a lot of screen time. The idea of knowing you can get the girl you want but still regret not saving someone and losing her, and getting a chance to change or leave it...that's a tough choice. I wonder if Suwa will still support them?

Would make a lot of sense if Naho left Kakeru for Suwa, Kakeru doesn't really offer her anything.

So... This gonna be recap of events from tv series, but they will showed from the Suwa's viewpoint?
Oh... Nice~~
Like whole tv series version wasn't too much painfull to him -.-

Oh... I like things like this, when events are showed from other characters POV, but this one... wonder how they gonna show it...
If they make me feel more bad for Suwa, I will be pissed.
If they will go with "As long they are happy, I'm happy, too" I will be pissed.

Yeah, I wonder how it will be...

This is like a wish come true for me. I've always wanted to know about what happened to Suwa after Naho and Kakeru ended up together or after Oranged ended.
I just wish it will be fully written by the real author, since I can only consider it a canon if it's written by the manga author.

The manga was great. I felt various emotions while reading it. But the tv anime sucked badly thanks to some unknown studio adapting it. But since the movie will be from Suwa's point of view and it'll show more of what happens afterwards, I have hopes for it. Because he was the best character in the series!! I hope he'll get happiness too!

I don't get why everybody pities Suwa. You should know - if you watched the anime - that at the end of the story there are two parallel realities established. This is the premise of the whole story in the first place.

One has a living Kakeru, who (probably) gets the MC.

In the other one Kakeru is dead and Suwa builds a family with the MC. They even have children.

So where is the problem?

I myself found the conclusion to be quite satisfying. Or maybe I'm misunderstanding what the people don't like about Suwa's treatment in the story?

I'm not sure about the others but since I'm a fan of Suwa (I love him more than kakeru) I really want him to end up with someone else instead of thinking about Noha and Kakeru. He loved her so much, but she loved him as a friend. I still didn't watch the anime, im not sure if it's the same as manga tho. Now about this movie, we are going to see what's happened to Suwa in the future right? Isn't that great?
