| Assuming you mean ecchi and hentai vs porn, cause I'd find it strange to compare just ecchi with porn and not include hentai. A copy and paste of my post from another topic. A lot more fetishes to explore and a lot of them can't even be recreated in live porn, so once you get hooked on some strange Japanese/hentai fetish, you're probably stuck with hentai as your main outlet. Few people can draw naked girls as well as Ken Akamatsu does it. 4) Because naked people are funny, and we like comedies. Sure, it is possible to make an anime comedy without nudity, but why do I have to restrict myself? |

| I was actually about to make this thread yesterday. Not all hentai are necessarily just an excuse for fapping; titles like Kage and Mezzo Forte are more 'Adult Anime' than anything. That's not really a reason as much as it is clearing up a misconception, though. Hentai can also do sexual humour just as well as ecchi anime. |

| Well, ecchi usually has higher production values, so better art and better animation. Ecchi anime are usually just dumb fun kind of anime, while most hentai are not very fun to watch. Most hentai don't even have half-decent settings and characters, and the over-all bad animation just makes it a lot less attractive. The focus in ecchi is either way making a sexual situation into something comedic. so sexual comedy + either way ecchi is not really supposed to be fapped to. It's just something to be watched. I mean, you don't fap at a strip club, right? |

Ecchi also sets itself up to be funny and awkward, as opposed to the 'uncomfortable' humor and awkwardness that befalls pornography. And on occasion, Ecchi will actually have something that makes it worth coming back to and watching again. |
