I don't see how either of these articles suggest confusion between fiction and reality. The articles simply offer a harsh criticism of the game. They aren't calling for action to be taken against either the creators or the players.

So, you know how we've been through this huge thing on games ever since Anita Sarkeesian decided to become the feminist version of Jack Thompson...

You understand that behind all this supposed "criticism" many of these people have been putting forth the idea that Video Games are sexist and are conversely making gamers sexist towards real women, right?

I mean, why the hell would anyone care about what you do to a FICTIONAL character in a video game?

Do you remember when feminists successfully made Targets in Australia ban GTA V from their stores because they said the game was sexist towards women?

Again, why would they care so much about that if they properly understood that what you do in a video game does NOT reflect what you do in real life???

It's because they don't understand it and they believe this fight against "Misogynistic video games" and the industry is one they need to fight.
What I take to your main argument — all fictional works should be permitted because they don't, in themselves, indoctrinate people or cause them to take specific actions — is reasonable. But to that you're adding the hardline (and just plain wrong, I would say) stance that fiction should only be engaged with in void of cultural, political, and moral irrelevance. Video games can't be sexist, but sexism and other such considerations don't apply in the void. But they do, because video games are a form of art and art exists as a part of the real world. People bring their preferences and ideologies with them when they engage with art, and that causes them to react to the content in various, legitimate ways.

If your reaction to the content of DOA is "cool" or "I don't care", that's fine. If my reaction is "gross" or "creepy", that's fine. You can question my reaction and I can question yours.

Why might someone vehemently dislike DOA? Perhaps someone views DOA as taking the position that sexual assault is acceptable or humorous. That person might want to strongly reject that position by rejecting the game, without ever thinking that the game is going to cause sexual assaults to increase. Perhaps a casual, sugarcoated depiction of sexual assault is offensive in itself. There are any number of valid reasons.

I can understand what they mean. VR is much different than a game. You're basically put into it and it feels real. If this game is about sexually harassing people the line could definitely be blurred since it's so realistic. It just doesn't seem like a good idea to me, it could lead already sick people down an even darker path.

News surrounding Rapelay ruined video game localization to a large degree.

That's partially why Starless was censored when brought to the West. They wanted to keep the game very low key and avoid getting noticed by news outlets specifically because of the Rapelay incident years ago.

Yeah but I sort of hope it to be that way and keep everything out of western shores. The Japs ideologies just doesn't mesh with the western views in fiction. Sexually assaulting women is not a new thing in the Japs game industry. Rapelay, Senran Kagura, Sexy Premium Beach Resort and many more have these acts as part of the gameplay.

bullshit. VR today is not vr. it is a crappy screen slapped in front of your face. This isn't SAO. I had a oculus shit and sold it because it sucked.

the game is creepy and bad anyways. I'm glad "SJW's" are picking it apart.

also putting all "SJW's" under one umbrella is stupid and bad

Here's the video of the VR in action for anyone who hasn't seen it...

I fucking love the comments:

"RIP Xbox"

"Playstation has saved VR and gaming in one fell swoop"

"300-400 bucks? This shit is cheaper than alimony."

"RIP women. Technology will replace you."

"Goodbye real world."

Overall, I support this new inclusion of VR towards DOA, and I'm not gonna lie....I'd like to try it myself.

SJWs can go eat a bag of dicks.

HAHAHAHAHA!

YES, read this glorious shit from Polygon...

http://www.polygon.com/2016/8/30/12710076/dead-or-alive-vr-mode-harassment

I think the best part was this:

"When I watch a man play through the demo, those voices who pound into my head that I should be afraid of my body chime back in, just as they do every time in real life my body fails to protect me or is put at risk. See, these voices say; we told you this would happen."

^LOL!

A normal person watches this shit and says...."yeah whatever, it's a pervert playing a perverted video game, who cares"...

An SJW watches this shit and literally starts to cower in fear that what is happening to a FICTIONAL character might happen to her because REASONS...

As Much as I like DOA as a fighting game. I don't need this VR gimmick. unless it has some actual gameplay, Like being able to play volleyball, or some sparring with the characters.

Okay, this is just hilarious. This is not reality. Unless an SJW wakes up and is magically in Dead or Alive VR with no escape (AKA a better version of SAO) you have nothing to be afraid of. If someone is making you uncomfortable walk away. This is a simple concept.
