A Melbourne father who sexually abused his daughter and got her pregnant at the age of 14 has been sentenced to a minimum 10 years in jail.

The man was sentenced by a Victorian County Court judge on Friday.

The father, who cannot be named for legal reasons, had pleaded guilty to threatening his daughter with a knife and persistently sexually abusing a child under 16.

After this incident, the father started having sex with his daughter, usually while she was home alone from school, or while her mother and siblings were not home.
He also forced her to watch pornographic films and repeat the film's sexual acts on him.
Last year, when she was 14, the girl began showing symptoms of pregnancy.

Her mother remarked that her daughter's stomach was getting bigger.

He raped his daughter and is paying the price, there isn't much to discuss here. You can't blame porn for this, the father was a sick bastard.

@Valaskjalf

Melbourne is in the state of Victoria. Abortion is legal up to 24 weeks, and more with a second doctor's approval. That girl was 19 weeks pregnant.

Tho... 19 weeks? are people around her fucking blind?

You can't seriously think that a prison sentence is going to help anyone improve so I guess you just want to punish him to feel better. This is far from an efficient way to handle the problem, you're just putting more money on an investment with zero potential. If you're going to put money on the table for criminals, you might as well try to fix what's wrong with them on a shorter amount of time. Even if it costs a lot more/day than letting 'em rot in an ultra-violent environment, shorter sentences mean more room in jail wich is a substantial profit nowadays, and you get more potential out of the criminals who purged their sentences.

I kinda agree with this, it's not because he was put into jail for ten year that's it's going to solve the problem even if you put him there for a life time.

Jail is just a business, it's sad but the truth.

10 years is a very short time.
This is worthy of life imprisonment and castration as minimum.

@Effulgence From what I read of penal labor in the USA, it seems like a profitable business and might explain why they have the world's larget prison population (despite having something like a third of China's total population).

@Clebardman

Yup ever wondered why prison is the only social housing they put tons of money in, instead of building things for the homeless people? Simply because it's not profitable while prison is.

Society is just a big lie, especially in the usa, if you are intrested look up the Rothschild family they basicly own everything and they are even surperior to the president.

It's nice to have ideals and all, but prisons aren't designed to fix problems, they're designed to put away the problems.

We aren't going to make a wonder drug that cures pedophilia any time soon, so in the meantime we put those sorts of people in prison, until maybe 10 or more years from now we can figure out what to do. Extend their sentence, release them, or whatever.

The most unfortunate thing about all this, is that the victims family and the perpetrator are one and the same. What sort of sense of justice can the family have after this? You were wrongly treated and so now we'll punish you further by taking your father away. Of course it's the least bad outcome rather than letting him stay free, but either way there's no ending here where either side is content with the outcome.

Furthermore, criminals are people too. Prison isn't designed to put away things that aren't people. It's designed to separate people who don't follow rules from the people that do follow rules. As much as they live in a bubble made out of bricks, we all live in a much bigger bubble that covers, but does not extend into, that other bubble of bricks.

They're criminals, but they're people. We can't just do what we want with them. Although they have forsaken the laws of the land, by imprisoning them we also take away their means to survive without resorting to anything short of cannibalism, unless that is we provide for their needs out of our own pockets. In short, if you want to remain a rule following human, you take care of your prisoners, and society has made that pretty easy by only requiring you to pay a little tax money, and nothing else.

As for homeless, they can't really be treated as rule breaking criminals. They don't need to be separated from the rule followers. They're allowed to live in our much bigger bubble. But why should we pay for their needs? They have a means to survive without breaking the rules. They have all the necessary tools at their disposal. We pay for criminals out of necessity to remain something we value as human. If you can't pay for your own way, it's either figure it out and stay in our bubble, or make your way over to the other bubble where we provide for all your needs.

More or less, anyways. It's nice to have ideals, but you can't use that as an excuse to forget the reality of the world we live in.

There are fucked up people everywhere and there's nothing you can do about it until it's too late in most cases.

10 years is a fucking joke. How about life? Although he'll probably have a nightmare of a time in prison. I doubt other prisoners would take kindly to people like him

Why is this cunt sentenced to 10 years? it's an incredibly short time for abusing, threatening and permanently traumatizing her life. Crime sentences are a fucking joke. At least she had an abortion, even though this was probably a distressing experience as well.

@Spooks Apparently, there's a difference between legal marriage and incest. Or is it so common at your place that you can't even differerntiate? There's also another thing. It's Africa. There is, sadly, no comparison. Step up your game, man.

Life imprisonment combined with castration should be the minimum tolerable for these cases.
There should be no mercy for these type of crimes.

Forced labour & rehabilitation would certainly be more effective and efficient than the system we currently have. Anyway 10 years is a seriously long time, but he'll probably be out in 3 or 4 if the system is anything like where I come from.

I only hope pedos are treated the same way by other inmates in Australia as they are in America.

Castration seems appropriate in this case, but there's something I don't understand. Why didn't she tell anyone what was going on for all those years?

And as a mother how could you not notice?
