I thought this was pretty okay, nothing out of this world or anything but it is nice to see essentially super prototype Inuyasha. |

Usually, I'm not the biggest fan of older films/OVAs like this, but I actually found myself enjoying this OVA more than most pieces of animation from its time period. It was almost like a mystery movie, albeit a very simple one. It was fun making the connections like Suzuko was. I didn't see Shukumaru being Shu coming at all. The animation wasn't that bad and it had some decent tracks in its OST. Voice acting was just as bad as most voice acting in the 80s was, though. I can see myself recommending this to people, especially ones that are fans of other Takahashi Rumiko works. 6/10 Story: 7/10 Art: 6/10 Sound: 7/10 Characters: 6/10 Enjoyment: 7/10 Raw score: 6.6/10 Final score: 6/10 To see how I believe this show stacks up against other anime I have seen, click here. |

Nemo_Niemand said: Looks a bit dull. It was so predictable I knew who is who almost immediately. Interesting idea though, moderately enjoyable Exactly this. The twist was obvious very early on. It was an okay OVA with an interesting plot but it wasn't that good overall. Side note: That gas explosion would have flattened much of that city considering the size of the containers. Certainly more so than what was shown anyway. |

The subplot of this was pretty weird to think about nonetheless a pretty good plot twist in a way. |

I didn't expect to hate this going into it, but this is a contender for my least favourite anime movie now. This movie was pretty horrible (and disgusting). I wonder when I'll find a Rumiko thing I actually enjoy somewhat. |

Indeed felt like an 80's Inuyasha. Was pretty nice for a 45min run, however, aside from clarification issues, there were two major drawbacks due to the length 1) It lacked impact 2) Suzuko's decision to leave her life behind just wasn't cogent |

I really liked this one. The musick was great! Characters and plot resemble proto-Inuyasha. It was a nice romance story! |

Very enjoyable short story. It'd be cool if they made this into a long-running series... oh wait, they already did. I saw "proto Inuyasha" being thrown around regarding this OVA a lot and I guess it's correct. There are a lot of things that are common except for the strong Japanese folklore or mythology present in Inuyasha. Seems like Takahashi-sensei toyed with the idea of a time-traveling schoolgirl for quite a while. Glad she got the chance to write what she wanted with Inuyasha. But maybe in an alternate universe, Takahashi continued writing Fire Tripper... I was wondering that Suzuko's voice sounded familiar and she was voiced by none other than Sumi Shimamoto! Of course, she voiced Kyoko Otonashi from Maison Ikkoku and Asuka Mizunokoji from Urusei Yatsura! Akauma was also voiced by Genda Tesshou who voiced Rei from Urusei Yatsura. It's very short but it didn't overstay its welcome. I think this was pretty good, if not a bit dated. There is one thing that carried over from Fire Tripper to Inuyasha though. Rumiko Takahashi once said that Sesshomaru and Rin's relationship was directly taken from Fire Tripper's Suzuko and Shu where one older character is initially a caretaker to a younger character and then they eventually grow into lovers despite the age gap. |

Really a great plot twist in the end, overall it was a good OVA, Suzuko chose the wrong choice, they could've had stayed in the present and live a better life; I'll give it an 8 because of it uniqueness, I hope the other 2 Rumic OVAs are the same if not better. |

I was surprised by the twist reveal at the end. Don't know how other people caught it so early, I sure didn't. But it surprises me she would give up her life and go back to living in the medieval era instead of just having him live in the present with her. Just because he "had friends" back then? Well doesn't she have friends in the present too presumably? Odd choice to give it all up. I'm sure she'll regret that decision when she starts having his kids without the help of anesthesia. |
