| The ending of this chapter if absolutely brilliant. When I realized where this was going, I screamed "Yes! Yes yes yes!" aloud. Kaname's entire schtick has been pretty dark and twisted. There's the way he treated Aya which was absolutely disgusting of course, but there's also his two-faced personality and how he was internally spitting on basically everyone in the world while externally smiling at them. Everything about him has been done in a way that I can practically qualify as dark humor. It's precisely for that reason that seeing him receive his comeuppance in this chapter's ending is just... perfect. It's an appropriate ending for him. That said, it is my understanding that he ended up this way due to the crushing pressure his father put on him. I want to believe he was a regular, upstanding, just plain all right person when he was younger. That is, until the pressure his father caused got to him and slowly turned him into the Kaname we know (and love?) when he started abusing Aya. Goodbye, Kaname. I hated you, but I also really enjoyed you. |
