| Until this episode, main protagonist Subaru hasn't improved in any sense as a character but well, now it seems it finally happened, hopefully. The dialogue of Rem and Subaru was really touching and magnificent turning point of the story. Subaru was in his weakest point so far because of self-loathing in this whole series but Rem really did marvelous job to stop his self-absorbed torment. The scene was moving also because I could relate with Subaru's feelings of powerlessness and incompetence to achieve things. Tremendous episode and hopefully we'll see a new Subaru in upcoming episodes! |
| Wow.... This made me feel so emotional. When I started this series I always wondered why Rem was so popular and this episode really showcased why. All the characters in this show are so well-written and it's amazing how powerful they made this episode. I could feel their frustration and it felt relatable in some senses. I'm almost upset with myself for putting off this series for so long... |

| Really curious as to what degree the characters in this world understand Subaru's hangups. They don't have the contextual background he does from the events he experienced in the future, so the most they can do is try and discern what exactly he means through the generalities he speaks in. It's obvious that Subaru cannot name his power without these spirit hands halting it, but is there no roundabout way he can phrase it so that the people of the world can glean something from it? For all intents and purposes, it must look like he's having mental breakdowns over nothing to everyone but him and whoever transported him to this other realm. When Subaru talks of his deaths and inability to change anything, does anyone try to reason as to what the implications of what this would mean in a world where neither he nor anyone of importance has died yet? Still liked the dialogue in this episode. It was a display of contemplation on Subaru's part, and conveyed both situational awareness and internal reflection on his end. However, he still doesn't seem to understand that his mindset or life in the real world has nothing to do with the situation he's in here, because he wasn't transported into this world with the social status or magic powers the other characters have. Subaru has no reason to believe living life differently in the real world would've resulted in him being granted more favourable attributes upon being transported to this fantasy world. Ultimately, it appears that he just didn't luck out and benefit from a fortunate scenario, and I see no reason to blame him for that. |

It was actually good that they were rejected ,rem getting married to a loser like subaru is like spitting on her face. Up until this point to think that she was the only good character this series has to offer. Subaru is too stubborn to understand anything. Meanwhile rem still care about him knowing that he like emilia. Truly author came up with a great character. Now I understood all the hype around rem. The way subaru and emilia react I doubt the author can pull of something to make them as likeable as rem.
| @BauaMarega Kind of agree, insofar as Rem is more like-able than all the other characters. That's about as far as it goes for me, though. She's very sweet and has a cute design, but what could be a great character in another universe is squandered in ours. Because she's in re:Zero. I really don't even hate this show, it's middle of the road. The rest of the cast is completely forgettable imo. Subaru isn't the worst out of the isekai protag bunch but he is so uninteresting :/ He just acts like an asshole 90% of the time, dies, cries, bitches, and then stumbles into a timeline that works out. Sorry for this long ass reply lol |

I know it's kinda pointless to respond to this after so long but Subaru didn't "reject" Rem or anything to that effect. It was his idea to begin with to run away somewhere with her after he tried to do the same thing with Emilia in the last episode but failed. Rem was the one who rejected his offer because she knew that if she ran away with him the person she'd run away with wouldn't be the same person she fell in love with. So, it was Rem who rejected Subaru and also talked some sense into him and reminded him who he was by clearing his disillusion. His saying "I love Emilia." wasn't a rejection like a typical seasonal romcom but is more so in the effect of "I remember what I was fighting for. I'm back." and Rem saying "Yes" (Or "I know" in the dub) was an acknowledgment of that. She already knew Subaru loved Emilia and was loyal to her. It's a shame that so many people misunderstood one of the best episodes of the series. And I partly blame the memes for that as people who watched the series later would go in with preconceived notions. Interestingly, I don't see many people talk about "rejections" as much in the first few pages of this forum. |
| PERFECT episode, at last... long before starting to re-watch it you were very eager and at the same time a little afraid to see it... If you're wondering why I'm looking forward to it and scared... well, I'm looking forward to it because it's my favorite episode of ALL the anime I've seen so far. Because it's like looking in the mirror for Subaru, for me, for others, and for many people who hate the character. It was time for someone to tell Subaru all the truths and how ironic that it ends up being Subaru himself and that's the moment where my fear begins, since I see so much of him in me.... trying not to disappoint others, running away when the situation gets difficult or things don't go my way, complaining non-stop hahaha sometimes I do, detesting parts of myself, etc. I could go on but there's no need, the point is clear. It's an episode of Retrospective, An episode of Proposals, An episode of declaration, An episode of despair, this episode is a roller coaster of emotions and situations... as is the anime itself. If I had to distribute the awards for Best MC (Main Character), Best SC (secondary character) although it is not so secondary for me, Best FC (female character) and Best episode here is the clear winner. Time to talk about the episode but without getting so much into it, because I don't think I can do it as I would really like to so I'll do it in general Finally we know Puck's contract with Emilia, he will destroy everything and everyone when he dies/they kill his reason to exist (Emilia) now I want to see again how this pact is born/formed? and for this there is still one more section to go. It is incredible the jealousy of Betelguese for Subaru, since this one has more ¨love¨ of the witch and to see the madness of her love is funny and terrifying. It's beautiful that someone sees or believes in a part of you that you yourself can't see or appreciate, I love you very much Rem but I also hate that way in which you care for others and not so much for yourself, Subaru doesn't deserve you... on top of that he asks you for help to rescue his love (Emilia) haha It's time to start from zero Clap Clap Clap PEAK  PS: I still feel I could express myself better haha I hope in the future to improve my way of expressing myself PS2: In case it's not clear Rem > Emilia, I like both of them but... there's this episode PS3: I didn't remember how controversial this episode was |

| I get the impression that Rem can completely empathize with Subaru's pain and struggles from all of his past experiences despite not knowing about Return by Death in a way that no other character can. Subaru had better be done with all his endless defeatism and self-pity now. If Rem can't fix him then no one can. And now I want to see a slice-of-life spinoff of the two living their ideal life in the village and growing old together |

| Lol, Rem fans are so sad, her obsession with Subaru is just as random/dumb as Subaru's obsession with Emilia. Well this is the episode when Rem fans learn that this is ReZero, not RemZero... |
