Of course. Just because I didn't like something doesn't mean someone else wouldn't. That being said, there is very little that I do not like. If I was ever recommending an anime, I would recommend while thinking of the tastes of the recommendee.

I would recommend something I rated a 6 to someone depending on the persons taste. Just because I think it is a 6 they might think it is a 9.

For me, it all depends. For example, I rated Ultimate Teacher a 6. To me, it wasn't that great, but it had its moments. It was very creative and had that B-level appeal. If someone I knew was looking for a B-movie anime equivalent, or just wanted some dumb fun, I'd probably have it as a recommendation.

To me, a 7 is the threshold for putting something on my favourites list if I wish. Therefore, a 6 is something that I can see people who are into that sort of thing (whatever that may be) liking, even if it isn't to my own personal tastes.

It really depends on what that person I'm recommending likes. If that person wants a romance show and I rated a romance show a 6/10, I would recommend it. If I rated it a 4/10 or lower, I would not.

That being said, I don't understand why a 6/10 is perceived as a negative rating.

Ratings are all subjective in and of itself, so why not? If you rated an anime a 6 then it obviously wasn't abysmal nor was it the greatest piece of art to ever be created on the face of this planet, hence why a 6 correlates to 'Fine'. There are probably plenty of people who would enjoy an anime you gave a 6 far more than you did.

Nope, Series I rated 6 are kind of bad and boring so I wouldn't recommend anything that I've rated 6. So I would only recommend series that I enjoyed like ratings 8,9 and 10.

But if you found it bad and boring, why rate it a 6 and now something like a 4/10?

I'd recommend something I'd rated a 1 if I thought that the person in question would like it. The chances that I find someone who has a taste in something that horrible is slim, but if it happened, I'd do it.

@Bluekirby2 Because the 6 rating is enjoyable a little bit but not that much, Sometimes it's boring while watching it. The 4 rating it was enjoyable at the beginning but the latest episodes and the ending made really bad.

In general; no.
I'd only recommend it to someone if they are looking for a specific type of plot/character.

Well, yeah ofc. Just because I rated it 6, doesn't mean it's not good for other people.

Depends on what the person is looking for. I've recommended Attack on titan before and I think I have that rated somewhere between 4-6.

Anything in the 6 to 10 range I can recommend to someone else. Some anime I have rated a 6 are actually good for getting newcomers into anime. Even a 5 sometimes isn't that bad of a recommendation depending on what someone is looking for.

i usually recommend anime based on how i think the person will like it based on their interests. So, even if i dont particularly care for an anime ill name it off if it seems to fit that person. I'd say it works 8 out of 10 times.

Of course. I watched plenty of 6-rated anime that were pretty fun, or had a lot of potential to be greater. They gave me a good enough time I'd recommend them to people, especially if they like the genre.

If it looks like it could be more promising for someone else. I'd recommend Charlotte to a casual anime fan who loves Angel Beats.

Look, anime that have negative or average ratings often are often better than the ones that get extremely high ratings. Everybody hates Chaos Dragon and I still have yet to learn why people are so butthurt about it.

I agree. The ratings that are displayed are not always true. I had higher expectations for SG, for example, but it wasnt as amazing as ppl claim to be. Not for me atleast
Dont get me wrong, SG is still good :p

Yeah if the person I'm recommending it to might like it more than me. a 6/10 is 'fine' but that doesn't mean it shouldn't be watched

7 is basically where i still recommend stuff if people ask me about it, 8 is where i actually start recommending stuff proactively

6 i'll just tell people it was alright but there is nothing interesting enough to spend your time watching it (unless its a subgenre they specifically enjoy)

Most definitely, 6 is for anime that are above average to good and are very enjoyable while having some good qualities.

Yup, as many have said. A 6 out of 10 for me is perfectly fine if you like that style of anime. I would just not recommend it to people who are not into that style of anime. That's how my score system works anyways.

5~6: Only for the people who love said genre, someone who ends up watching everything from said genre.

7~8: People who tend to like them but are more picky should still like it.

9: All anime fans will likely enjoy it

10: Anyone, even people who stay away from anime.

Anything under 5 is crap to me, it might have some parts that are ok but I would almost never tell someone to watch it. Example of a 6 I would recommend. Most see my scores and would say "man you hate key anime" as they tend to rank 5~6, but I love the hell out of em, I just cant tell everyone to watch them as they really are not for everyone...

Yes, a 6 out of 10 is above average, it's a positive score.

To make things easier on myself I have to ask, "Is this one show as good as the others I've rated similarly?" and then go from there.

I enjoy watching 4's, 5's I had to like and be able to rewatch or had some cool concept or idea, 6's are great, ect.

Of course it depends on the show in question but if I gave it a good score, not being able to recommend it to someone who enjoys the genre is weird.

I played the Visual Novel and I wish I didn't. I agree Steins;Gate is good but not mindblowing in the slightest considering my favorites.

No.
For me 6 means - is ok but nothing special.
I recommend only 10,9,8 rated anime. Well, sometimes 7.

Absolutely. I know a person who has opposite tastes to me so I would recommend something I didn't really like to them.
Simply put people have different opinions.

Yes, the reason is very simple, people have different likes and dislikes, If you rated a series with 6 it means its a fine piece of anime, not something special overall in your opinion, but it is okay in a sense.
When you watch an anime you judge how good it is based on your standards and specifics which differs from one person to another. that is why recommending an anime you rated 6 could count as an anime which that person would rate 7-10.

I think that when you don't like an anime, you should rate it as 4 and below, as it is something you don't like (therefore 4=bad, while 5&6 = Average/Fine = not bad)

I think it depends on who I'm recommending the series to. If I think that person would like it more than I did, I would. If not, then I wouldn't.

For me, a 6 means that it's mediocre, bordering on good if it wasn't for one flaw that, while minor, affects my enjoyment of it. So yes, depending on what someone is looking for.

Yes: If a 6 does not mean a slightly above average anime to you, then you probably should fix your rating system and/or stop using it.

zankyou no terror would be the only one of my 6's that i would recommend, and that's if you don't tend to find plot holes like i did

I don't give series numerical ratings but from a mathematical standpoint it makes sense. 5 is average so 6 is above average, if it's better than average it's also better than what you usually see.

One Punch Man, a lot of people would find it funny and it`s very accessible to the more bizarre anime comedy.

It really depends on what I know of the persons taste.

Cause a 6 for me is "Fine" or "ok" but If I was asked for a recommendation, I could recommend that 6/10 show simply because I think they would enjoy it.

E.g. I can recommend Rakudai Kishi no Cavalry to someone if I know they enjoy Ecchi type of shows, DESPITE the fact i gave it a 6.

Hell, the worst anime for me, may be the best anime to another person.
