That was good, the episode felt so natural and had a decent amount of realism to it.

I also really like what they did with the OP song to combine the watercolors and artwork style. There's the theme of baseball although it's more casual rather than competitive play. Of the main characters, I like Takumi so far and his chemistry with Gou is quite something. Looking to more, good start for the season.

Pretty good start. I like the chemistry between the characters. The episode was a little slow, but set everything up nicely. Looking forward to more. I wonder if this is going to be more than one cour, because I don't see how they'll fit this type of story in to 11 episodes.

My gosh was this boring and awkward. It's pretty obvious this is the first anime this studio made... Easiest drop in a while... What a shame, I was looking forward to this one. I guess it also doesn't help that this is based off of a novel.

I thought it was ok, MC wasn't generic like most sports anime, definitely I need to give it a little bit more episodes before judging like the guy above me.

It was all right I guess. I'm still not entirely sure how I feel about this show just yet so we'll see in a few episodes.

I liked it, the chemistry between the mains is really good and the direction is on point..

The episode count worries me, the pace is a bit too slow, but good episode overall.

I thought it was pretty nice. I don't get this talk about the chemistry though... first time I see this mentioned in anything other than romance.. I think ^^"

Anyway I really liked the lil bro.

Oh and I think the animation was really quite nice for a first anime.

I have been waiting for this . The first episode was really relaxing and the animation is so pretty. This will definitely satisfy my sports anime need.
I hope this can fill the void that Diamond no Ace left behind .

Wow, I liked this a lot! It has a nicer feeling to it than most anime nowadays. Just hope they keep up with the good work.

Well color me surprise a show that has a slow start and i actually like it, i mean not every sport show should be fast paced and all bombastic and i also love realistic baseball so from the start i see that this show will take the more realistic path, what can i say they got my attention let see they can keep it :)

Pretty good episode or start... rather weird if I can say.

And my god I hate the MC in the span of 22 minutes though.
But I hope he develops though.

Ah this was so good.
Art style has a very natural colour palette. Simple, but tasteful character designs. Similar to shouwa geneoku rakugo shinjuu.
Interesting characters, there is room for development and they are realistic.
Decent OST already.
Slow paced, relaxed story. Liking the atmosphere.

The only weird thing is th characters' ages: wasn't it mentioned that the MC was 12/13?! Both of the MCs look and sound way older than that, more like 16/17.

Hmm. Not bad. Guess it was decent, but can't say it was really anything impressive, but as a first episode, it was fine. Kinda slow, so I hope the pace will increase a little.

The OP and ED were great, though, along with those visuals.

This is chill as fuck. The slice of life is more apparent than the sports aspect which is interesting and new.

Takumi's brother is a nice kid. I'm pretty sure that this is gonna lead to a good development for Takumi himself. He doesn't see baseball in a way that let's him get ultimately better. He has no fun playing unlike Go.

I really like the kid brother! He is so cute and has a very cutesy and positive attitude. Second is Go. Was surprised when he got a little mad when main character said something about him being rich.

Lastly, i don't like Takumi for the meantime. He's somewhat grumpy and overconfident. But he might still improve. Anyway, nice 1st episode and i like this type of animation since its relaxing to watch. I just hope it will not get very dramatic along the way. I am a big fan of baseball so I hope this new baseball-slice of life genre will not be ruined.

P.S. Just realized it was Hatanaka, Tasuku as Go's VA. Good job! He is really improving so far with all the roles given to him. From Ushio to Ikoma, I am liking his voice acting so far. Good job!

The art is so lovely!

Uchiyama Kouki is good at voicing these stoic/cocky type of characters that he's almost sleep-inducing.
His character wasn't that much to my liking but Gou on the other hand proved to be more interesting than I initially thought.

Gave off a relaxing, serious tone, seemed very down to earth, from this 1st episode alone there is nothing that strikes you right off the bat to differentiate it from every other baseball anime ever, however it wasn't bad and still has plenty time to grow on me with future episodes. Looking forward to them.

(Definitely not baseball puns in any of that)

This felt so real, like I was watching the beginning of a real movie. The cinematography of it, and the sounds, or the way the story progressed. Pretty interesting. Even though the plot wasn't anything unusual, it felt unique.
The shaking hand worries me. :v
Edit: Seiha, as well. I guess he has some sort of illness?

This was neat, I liked it more then I expected to. Show did a great job establishing its setting and characters making it easy to get invested in the story. Anyone know if they are going to adapt all 6 vols.? Seems a little much for a show set to 11 episodes.

This comment irks me. Why the fixation on the studio when the staff are equally important? Tomomi Mochizuki has been writing and directing stuff since the 80s, for example.

And why does it matter if this show is based on a novel? The Tatami Galaxy, Uchouten Kazoku, Seirei Moribito, 12 Kingdoms, Kemono no Souja Erin, and many other excellent anime were adaptations of novels.

Anyway, I enjoyed the premiere of Battery and can already see the director's style in it. I'm hoping the show will be more of a character drama like Ping Pong than a adrenaline-pumping show like Haikyuu, and fortunately it does look like it's going in the route of the former.

Really enjoyed this, love the slice of life feeling. Takumi is kinda of on the haughty/arrogant side, but he's not super annoying either despite this. He seems to sort of gets angered easily as well. But I can see him developing. I wonder why he's not supportive of Seiha, it almost seemed like he was insecure or something when his grandfather praised the look in Seiha's eyes. Maybe it's just me, and he was just worries about Seiha's weak condition (wonder what it is, maybe asthma?). Although didn't seem like it was just worry to me. Seiha is a really good little brother though, he's always on Takumi's side.

This seems like my type of relaxing/light-drama anime. The OP and EDs were so nice to look at, especially the ED that calms the soul. Can't get enough of the watercolor style.

Didn't know Asics was such a huge baseball gear supplier, haha. I just know that they make some damn good running shoes.

The way Gou and Takumi met was kind of awkward, but otherwise pretty good. And I like slow pace in general, but with only 11 episodes it makes me kind of anxious.

Well done. Even the young boy sounds like a young boy rather than an old lady making a stupid voice like 99% of shows because... it was a young kid. Too bad baseball and 12-year-old boys suck so a realistic anime about them that is also interesting is practically impossible.

I really don't care if my post irks you tbh. I mentioned the studio aspect because the animation studio really does matter in the long run. Most sports anime are based off of manga and that really helps with the adaptation overall. Look at Haikyuu or Ping Pong the Animation for example, the matches from the anime are animated with breathtaking detail. Battery is based off a novel, which makes it a bit more awkward for the animation team, they don't have much to go off of, so they just have to do what they think is the best. I'm not against it being a novel adaptation, it's just that being a novel based sports anime makes things pretty shaky and wonky.

Great so far. You can easily tell this was from an actual novel and not some shitty LN from its excellent pacing and restraint with more of a focus on building genuine characters. Love the art and love the MC. Classic MAL will complain about the MCs that don't fit their archetypes but he's much more interesting than most.
