Baby steps is still going strong, nice! Hunter x Hunter at 1 million, nice + Boku no Hero Academia is selling super well. Also, let's see if Days gets a boost from its anime + Ahiru no Sora anime when?

Awesome, HxH broke a million copies sold. Also good to see Nanatsu no Taizai and Boku no Hero selling pretty well.
I'm no special story or anything. I'm just a manga that wants to be read, like you could find anywhere. But, if, for argument's sake, you were to adapt me into an anime series, it would certainly be....a tragedy.

Next month all JC titles will have 7 days a few JC+ titles will be released at the same date (fire punch and Astral lost in space).

Not much to say this week tbh, next week will have berserk with 3 days.

D gray man will probably leave the top 50 with 400k, Bnha with 430-450k. HxH with 1M 200-250K

Hunter x Hunter breaking the 1 million mark. Not surprising though, but still nice to see.

My Hero Academia is selling very well it seems, which is pleasing. It sold 390k in half the time it took the previous volume to sell 394k. Doesn't look like it'll be breaking the 500k mark just yet, but I can see it happening with the next volume.

HxH selling over 1 million makes me happy, it shows people are still interested in this great series despite all the hiatuses.

Damn, Toriko sales keeps slowly decreasing.

Not surprising at TG beating NNT, Diane has been garbage when she lost her memories.

Hmmm, this volume of HxH is really outpacing the last volume now, the gap is close to 100k already with a much bigger third week. Lol wth happened? A better comparison for it now seems to be the final volume of Naruto or FMA.

After three weeks:

21 *40,247 1,154,954 Fullmetal Alchemist vol.27
15. *56,601 1,117,608 Naruto Vol.72
*4. 113,292 1,052,701 Hunter x Hunter Vol.33

Naruto vol.72 was 224k above it after one week, 122k after two weeks and just 65k now. Both of those volumes (Naruto 72 & FMA 27) went on to sell 1.3 million copies at the end of the year. This volume only has six months but it is still looking to sell at least 1.3m in this half year (june to november). Very good.

Possible. He was usually at the same level as Killua in character popularity polls (13k for both, 3-4k for Gon). Though I doubt he's the only reason (if he really is one of the reasons that is).

the first popularity poll proved him being in second place, next to killua who was in first. gon was at third. it's right in one of the books, but i forget which volume.

P to JK sales were good but it may have been raised more after the announcement of the live-action movie xD

and Ahiru no Sora is such a long sports manga I wonder why they didn't adapt this into anime till now? maybe it's coming soon since every new volume is selling more than 100K? xD

It doesnt help for Toriko manga how Toriko just became Top Tier material, its forced as hell and more generic than Fairy Tail.

it doesnt take this volume to know that, just look at how much the anime sold and the small boost the manga get, the anime didnt really have that much affect(the manga sales is just a litter bit higher than before the anime aired). it's probably as popular as SnK outside Japan though

Just a question, Does Madhouse get a cut for the manga sales of HxH since they have the license or not?

Madhouse together with VAP and Nippon TV have the anime copyrights.

And not, an anime studio will never get a cut of the manga sales. In the maximum a studio has the anime copyright, and so get a cut of anything related with the anime, but they never get the manga copyright.

ah, and Shueisha the Manga right holder, also is right holder to the anime. This is something rare to happen, normally the publisher just gives the rights for the anime and receives royalties for being the "licenser".

So in fact the anime copyright of HxH is: VAP, Nippon TV, Shueisha, Madhouse.

Please no more hiatus for HxH. Let's keep this up.
But it's important to remember that a movie review is subjective;it only gives you one person's opinion.

It doesn't matter if you like LoGH,Monster etc.If you are a jobless or college/school dropout living in your mom basement, you are still an unintelligent loser. Taste in anime does not make you a better person. If elitist don't exist, casual pleb and shit taste also don't exist.

Assuming that the average price of every HxH volume is 432 yen (current Amazon price), then we have:

1,052,701 copies * 432 yen = 454,766,832 yen or almost 4.35 millions USD..

How much would be Togashi's cut on the revenue? Shueisha?

i dropped toriko for a while but saying its generic/forced as hell is stupid. (not that im surprised since its coming from you)

well you have to think about how much its actually worth Togashi producing 1 chapter(as in the literal 20 pages) cause that's all that happens without Shueisha

Shueisha created a platform for all WSJ manga to be published that is even older then Togashi himself plus (im assuming) they also pay for printing and distribution and the many other things that come with being signed to a major corporation

^that is actually the norm for book publishers (don't know how much shueisha offers but it must be similar)
10%-15%

he probably receives a flat flee regardless of volume sales.

In fact is quite a lot! I believe that almost all places for prose books the author just gets 1%.

Note that is the publisher that spends all the money in producing, printing and advertisement. Than you have the distributor that gets a portion of the cut and after that the Retailer. All of those entities take huge risks for the product and they are an agglomerate of people, the author take no risk(In fact it earns money just creating the chapters in the magazine, and yearly receives an additional amount) nor the rest of the efforts to make his work public and widespread. And given that he is just one person he basically becomes millionaire(if his work is popular) just by selling one of his books.

Beside the royalties from the books, Togashi also got paid from drawing all those manga by shueisha around 15k-25k yen per page he draw iirc.
So it's quite a lot of money imo.

Yep, Shueiisha pay him for every page of Hunter x Hunter he draws, is it that surprising? It's pretty normal for a magazine to pay the author for the content they put on the magazine.

I've heard somewhere that Shueisha pays Oda around 20k yen per page of One Piece, I don't know whether every mangaka had the same payment or not tho.

Here is a quote from Naruto Forums that got it from One Piece Podcast, made by Greg, the official translator of the Viz One Piece:

The One Piece Podcast
Interesting program on TV attempted to break down Oda’s salary. They admit it’s NOT 100% concrete but they attempted to be as accurate as possible. They brought in three guests to help deal with the calculations, all of them big-time former... editors:

Nobuhiko Horie- Former editor of City Hunter and former editor-in-chief of Weekly Shonen JUMP

Pak Chon-Hyong- Former editor of GTO @ Shonen Magazine

Ryunosuke Ito- Former editor of Psychometrer Eiji @ Young Magazine

First they looked at the fields authors get their money from:
(keep in mind these values are ROUGHLY in dollars)

-Original Work
They suggested a manga author typically can make $100 per page and can move up from there with experience. Two of the panel suggested Oda is currently paid $500 per page, the other suggested $300. They went with $500. and decided to calculate 500 by 20 pages by 48 chapters per year. This works out to roughly $480,000

(If I was doing it I probably would have calculated at 19 pages given Oda’s current work.)

-Printing Tax

This is the figure for tanks. Authors receive approximately 10% of sales. That roughly $4.20 times 32,340,000 tanks sold last year (!!!) times 10%. Roughly $13,582,800.

@_@

-Use of Properties
