Will you allow your children to watch anime?

Any parents or future parents on MAL? Do you think it's a good idea to let your children watch anime? Personally, I will do all in my power to not have my heir(ess) pick up this hobby: I want them to have a bright future and anime is known to ruin lives. How many of us have won an award? How many of us have had sex? Zero. Zero of us, and anime is likely the reason.

Anybody who says folks on mal have no friends in real life or are all virgins are pretty much forcing their life and vision of everybody being like them onto the entire community.

Oh, and yes.

The future parents have had sex :')

No, because it's not physically possible for something that won't ever exist to watch anime

^This. Non Otaku people have no problem living regular lives and having regular relationships. (Including a martial one.)
I'm gonna raise my kids on a healthy diet of 80s children anime.

I have. And I'm not going to force anime on my potential future children, but if if they want to, that's great.

There's nothing wrong with anime. Children's shows are universal so it ultimately doesn't matter where they're from. If they decide to pick up the hobby of watching late night anime that's all up to them. If they take it too far then I'll just have a talk with them.

Supposing I have children, sure I wouldn't forbid them from it. I wouldn't want them to make it anywhere near the obsession I've turned it into nor would I try to push it on them. But I think I'd show them friendly anime when they're children and then if they're interested in it as they grow up I'll happily provide. Anime has changed my life for the better, surely it's safe in the right hands.

I would most definitely show him the way of the weeb! All the good anime to watch and the manga to read.
They said "There is no santa clause" I simply asked them "If santa clause isn't real then are you?" After that the voices in my head stopped speaking to me

Yeah, of course! All of the greats. Pokemon, Digimon, Kiss x Sis, Ghibli movies...only the most wholesome at first. I'll leave them to branch out on their own.

Me and my wife love anime, each other, time together, and our kids. We've known each other ever since we were kids and we loved anime ever since "Inuyasha" aired. We'd love for our kids to be in the Golden Age of TV and Anime but no hardcore weeaboo stuff like flying to Japan to buy from a panties vending machine.

P.S. Anime nowadays is kinda going downhill. Used to have 5+ good animes/season, now there's 0-2 good animes/season. Mangas are still amazing. #SayYesToNoblesse and animate good Manhwas, Manhuas, and Mangas (first hashtag ever used in my life).

Not planning on kids but hypothetically speaking, I'd allow it.

I wouldn't go out the way to introduce it but if they pick it up, that's fine. Depending on age though I might monitor them to a extent to keep them away from Ecchi/More Mature Anime.

Mature anime I'll let slide if there mature enough though, but no ecchi, need to at least hit puberty first... I guess lol.

So... apparently, watching anime causes people to remain virgins. And because of this, they shouldn't let their children watch anime.

Virgins... children... I think somebody needs to learn about the birds and the bees. Babies aren't actually brought by the stork, you know.

I'm pretty sure we can all be considered as future parents; some sooner than others. Yes, I will allow my children to watch anime, that is, if they want too. However, if I see that their grades are below average, then some countermeasures are going to be taken. I mean, I didn't start watching anime until last year, which was my junior year (as in the year before graduating high school) and my marks didn't drop at all from before and after I started watching. As long as they know their priorities, then I don't see why not.

I'd let my kids watch anime, but I'd make sure they didn't stumble across any ecchi or violent anime in their early years. Better to make sure they have a safe and good anime experience by picking trustworthy anime (pokemon, ponyo, etc.) and showing them those instead of letting them loose on the internet.

I refuse to have children but assuming such a horrible thing happens, why not? A lot of anime are excellent stories about growing up. I wish I would've seen Dennou Coil when I was tiny.

If my kid can't handle Fate/Zero at age 5, it's time to throw him into a volcano and try again. And eventually learn martial arts so that, when he comes back for his revenge, I'll be able to kick ass and eat axes.

Harem/isekai are lazy genres that refuse any meaningful innovation.
There is no 'Golden Age.' There will always be top-shelf anime.

Honestly I hope you know how lame™ that sounds. Its def not because of anime that you haven't had sex or won a award, like. at all. About the question, I don't really plan on having kids but hypothetically speaking, I wouldn't really care. If they like anime or if they don't, its up to them. Either ways... its not that deep, guys

but yeah, i'd let them...a reasonable amount - not so much that they can get addicted but so they can atleast have a social life =.=

I'd introduce him to it. If he likes it then great, it could even help in nurturing growth. But at the same time, getting him addicted to it would be bad, he could potentially ruin his life. It has been a decent source of entertainment, and I still manage my daily life. Not that I have anyone to talk to, anyway.

I personally think parents should be more cool-headed and think from the perspective of their kids.
