I love this film so much that I've already watched 9 times or so while checking Japanese discussion boards for confirmation of what I found. That's all ;-P Seriously, I love how much passion the production staff put into this masterpiece. IMO the greatest joy of this film is in knowing it, and the countless trivia tidbits may be a part of their fruits of passion. I wish if there were a few more comrades here... ![]() Seeking for the essence of every important lessons in the film. |

[Trivia] Legend of Invincible Shimada-style Series Part.1 Final match Kill counts Comparison ★★★ 3 kill
★★★★★★★★★★★ 11 kill Alice (Centurion Mk.I) : Chi-Ha (Hosomi) , Shinhoto Chi-Ha (Tamada), Chi-Ha (Nishi), Ha-Go (Fukuda) , Type 89 (Noriko) , M3 (Azusa) , Prez (Hetzer) , Chi-Nu (Nekonya) , CV33 (Anchovy) , B1bis (Sodoko) , Pz.IV (Miho) BTW, looks like Naomi isn't satisfied with her own performance in the match. from ending ![]() Seeking for the essence of every important lessons in the film. |
[Trivia] The sound director made different engine noises and gunfire sounds for each panzer. They even made different seat vibration patterns for 4DX version. To depict Centurion Mk.I as an invincible foe, sci-fi sounds were chosen for it. ..and they gave each panzer different downhill patterns as well. ![]() Modified by kemkemmers, Jun 12, 2016 6:55 AM Seeking for the essence of every important lessons in the film. |
[Trivia] I believe there's no need to mention it, but Saunders University Air Lift Division emblem is a parody of Thunderbirds TV show logo. ![]() Seeking for the essence of every important lessons in the film. |
[Trivia] Ignorance is bliss. Yukari and Miho immediately look concerned rather than elated when news of matches against tough opponents are announced. This is a reference to ep. 3 of the TV series when the practice match against Gloriana is announced. Similarly when the matches vs. Saunders, Pravda and Kuromorimine are revealed it's usually up to Yukari or Miho to fill in the blanks regarding opponents. A device to add tension. University Team? Oh shit... Ep.3 Yukari realizes immediately that Gloriana is a tough opponent for Oorai's first ever match. ![]() Modified by 8oomer, Mar 11, 2020 10:29 AM |
[Trivia] The Doomsday Machine and Operation Kill Serve Anyone who's familiar with the original Star Trek episode should see the parallel with how the alien doomsday weapon and the Karl device were defeated. Commodore Decker hit upon the idea to attack the death weapon up its maw but a self-destructing Starfleet shuttle-craft wasn't powerful enough to do the job. In our case, Noriko's idea is to catapult the little CV33 but its 8mm guns also turn out to be too weak to damage the Karl. Kirk (Anzu) realize the concept was good but the power necessary to carry it out needed to be ramped up (no pun intended). Detonating a starship's impulse engine (or a Hetzer's 75mm shell) on the other hand...
SPOCK: No, sir. Ninety seven point eight three five megatons. KIRK: Ninety seven point eight three five. Will it be powerful enough to destroy that thing out there? SPOCK: Negative, Captain. Its hull is pure neutronium. There is no known way of blasting through it. KIRK: Not through it, Spock, from inside it. Will it be enough? ![]() Modified by 8oomer, Mar 11, 2020 10:21 AM |
kemkemmers said: Final match Kill counts Comparison
As far as I'm concerned the Finn team deserves credit for all three guard Pershings: 1st one: initial attack 2nd one: lured into falling rumble zone 3rd one: solo battle (both tanks knock each other out) Jus' sayin'. BTW, awesome job with the trivia/references/vehicles, etc. :) ![]() Modified by 8oomer, Jun 12, 2016 11:35 AM |
Nice found (^^) Those eyes are an homage to Leiji Matsumoto's female characters. Incidentally, Momoga's eye patch is an homage to Kobayashi Motofumi's character Ernst von Bauer, and Piyotan's big breasts are homage to Shintani Kaoru's female characters. ![]() Seeking for the essence of every important lessons in the film. |
[Trivia]Moho is giving Hippo team a little wave while passing OY defense line. The reason of small wave may be to prevent opponents from detecting the ambush formation. from exhibition match.
