I really enjoyed this chapter. Loved the Chuck Berry reference with "Go Johnny go" bit. Also converting his injured victims into dinosaur servants is awesome. Definitely a reference to Dio's vampiric abilities in the main time line.

Man, Diego's backstory was fantastic, perhaps my favorite in the entire series. Loving this "arc" as a whole.

Holy shit, Diego's backstory. I wouldn't mind a series about his childhood cos damn, that was amazing yet heartbreaking. Also baby Diego looks like Giorno lol
Turning everyone into dinosaurs is a scary ability... SBR seems to be full of them so far & I love it.

This has to be one of the funniest arcs in all of JoJo. Araki must've thought, "Welp, I guess I want to draw lots of dinosaurs. And physics, go home, you're drunk."

Looks aside, Diego's ability is actually interesting.

And his mom was a trooper, salute to her.

His mother was great.
I hope that he kills the guys who are responsible for her death in a cruel and painful way.

Dio's backstory was simply fantastic. I'm glad that Araki-sensei made Dio more complex as a character. Sure, Dio is still a person who can't be described as a good person (lol), but he has his own good reasons to act like that and they are more reliable than those from the previous Parts.

I'm not saying that old Dio was a bad written character. He was different and evolved throughout six Parts to reach, let's say, "his final form" in Part 6, in which his motives, philosophy and general goals were presented better than they were in Part 1, which had mostly elements of irrational vengeance against Joestars instead of true character development, lol. Even his hard childhood later became irrelevant to atrocities he commited, i.e. with Danny.

Anyway, they located the next part of the corpse. This time: eyes. Aye, they must've belonged to a Saint in the past so they did not decay, haha.

In every timeline Dio will always have a justifiable hate for his father and a lovable mother (well we can assume that in the previous timeline she was a good person given how dio described her), toxic family environment just follows him.
Nevertheless that was a good backstory that solidifies well his motives.

Did Dio's backstory have a Dororo reference?

I remember Dororo's mother also took food in her bare palms.
Is that scene in the Dororo manga too? Or does the Dororo anime had a Jojo reference from this chapter?

I need answers!!!!!!!!!!!

That moment where Diego's mother preserved her and her son's dignity by receiving the piping-hot stew with her hands was a heartbreaking display of motherly love. She may have had her flaws but she was a good mother that did her best. That scene reminded me a lot of Dororo~

It's interesting that the nature of Diego's ability is really similar to the disease that took his mom's life. Just one scratch was enough to infect Gyro and turn him into a dinosaur and that's as horrifying as it's awesome. It's a relief that he got his hands on Jesus' eyeballs on time since all that's left is for him to snatch them from that lizard.

Definitely a reference to a much older story the idea of a mother burning her palms to feed her son is not unique to Dorro or Jojo.
