I'll explain: in most harem series the main character doesn't know who he's in love with (even if it's painfully obvious first girl is going to win), this is done to add fake mystery, haremy-shit and shippingwars to series. Then once the series is done and dusted they slap the gold medal on first girl and say "wow, didn't see that coming". The difference here is that as stated, Kiyoshi loves Chiyo. This means that from a writing standpoint there is a large potential for plot twists (i.e. the winner isn't the girl he loved for the main part of the story). In fact, you could argue that it would be encouraged to go that route since if Chiyo is the winner then there was never any danger, plot twist or intrigue in the story. Overall, anything could happen but this was my explanation on why the percentage for Hanyoshi is higher than in your typical harem. I study crappy anime tropes btw, just though i'd let you know... Where did you get your PhD in chinese cartoons? This makes a lot of sense, nice insight. |
