i had largely given up on new rap/hiphop til i finally listened to Kendrick Lamar

can u guys suggest something "new" that is equally lyrical and interesting with amazing flow? doesn't have to be right now, just "modern" i guess

there is lots of info out there but i have lost it and don't know where to start.

i'm looking for truly engaging shit. not radio crap tbh. or hell, if its on the radio it better be damn good

THANKS!

Edit: I know there are tons of opinions on this on this forum, but i don't even know where to start

Maybe you'll like these albums:

Joey Badass - B4.Da.$$ Has a modern 90s feel to it

Danny Brown -XXX Has a modern/experimental sound to it

Pete Miser is a great lyricist. Broad spectrum. If you like it, check out Five Fingers of Funk as well.

from the current scene, Freddie Gibbs is the most interesting when it comes to lyricism and flows imo. Cocaine Piñata with Madlib and Cold Day in Hell are my favorite projects from him.

I like listening to Earl Sweatshirt when I'm depressed, makes some cool dark stuff.

and like the guy above said, Tetsuo and Youth is easily the most slept on release of 2015

This channel is bomb ass hell for good rap, hip-hop, etc.

Lol, don't judge it by the channel name, I'm aware it's ridiculous.

Gibbs has a very impressive discography, one of the best of the past few years. I like his older stuff when he still lived in Gary a lot too.

Oh and also since you like kendrick lamar you might as well listen to the whole TDE camp....ill start off with schoolboy Q- habits and contradictions album if anything. Here's one of the few tracks he has with kendrick

Man, try some of these (it's in alphabetical order since it's most of my rap folder):

Big K.R.I.T.
Bishop Nehru
Bodega Bamz
Casey Veggies
Cousin Stizz
Deniro Farrar
(specially Rebirth and his tapes with Blue Sky Black Death)
Duru Tha King is good too (he has a collab with Deniro and some others underground rappers sampling the Elfen Lied opening which is pretty cool)
Isaiah Rashad
Jazz Cartier
(dropped one of the bests tapes last year imo)
Mick Jenkins
Smoke DZA
Snak the Ripper
The Underachievers
Vic Mensa
World's Fair
is a really good collective to pay attention to too.
