Because they have no clue on these sorts of things. One Punch Man was nowhere near flop status, but of course the sheep mentality is very strong in the Western fanbase. They probably just lapped up that One Punch Man apparently flopped from some other Western forum...

Nice! they must have loved the adaptations since it wasn't a popular part in the manga.

Do you know the early estimation for Jojo part 3 for comparison?

Lol IBO (poor man's A/Z reverse ripoff) got dropped on blu ray sales and Rekt. What a flop.

Macross wins over Gundam again since Frontier outsold 00 back when 2008-2009, with Delta (A Gundam IBO killer) estimates higher than IBO itself.

Gundam has REKT.

Oh also, OPM >>>>>>> BnHA

If we compared the production value and its BD/DVD sales.. yeah its a flop
ever since the anime was announced NTV make it looks like a big deal and yet even Overlord outsell OPM heck maybe even charlotte

It's funny that people say OPM flopped on disc sales....

OPM's main target is manga sales, since their manga sales are like a skyrocket.... That disc sales are just bonus... :P

Same thing you said about IBO Its funny you say it Flop but the only reason its getting a season 2 is because of its Model kits :P ( which destroy thunderbolt,X turn A and many others here is a Chart)

Pffft, it because Gundam main target is Gunpla toys,

But IBO are almost level than AGE but slightly higher, The only reason that IBO got slightly higher than AGE is, IBO is overhyped by some Gundam fanboyism

Doesn't matter still high many Gunpla Buyers bought a lot of barbatos kits and the Fact that there is a season 2 coming means that it will leave AGE in the dust (which is a kiddy Gundam anime )

Wow Overlord sold better. Maybe madhouse will give up on manga adaptions and go full light novels since that seems to be their hitters.

Yeh Overlord sales were steady as fck each volume was around 11k while OPM sales with each volume like 1k remember 1st voume of OPM sold 12k and now its already down to 6.5k wouldnt surprise if the last volume doesnt even reach 6k by this pace but overall lots of other animes would kill for such sells so its still doing good. So ye cant wait for 2nd season of Overlord hope then the production commitee and madhouse got some brains this time and dont forget about this show since they got enough material to use aswell...

Anyway about thoose stalker info i think it was proven last season that they can be quite wrong and only here and there some animes really kept good nrs all depends on the future episodes that will come. Surprised that Jojo still would sell like that has really the most ugly animation i have seen i even rather watch a 2000 anime then that jojo shizzle...
Anyway its still too early to talk about spring sales some will drop other will raise thats for sure but i do believe that macross will take the top spot unless kabaneri pulls off smth crazy to get big interest :P

Most of the profit is from the advertising that they play before and after each episode.

Honestly, 6.5k for OPM is quite disappointing. I was hoping it'd manage an average of 10k per volume and that's not happening now. Manga sales have definitely made up for it, though, so calling it a flop just shows no understanding of the medium. It seems to have become quite a big hit in France and US, too, so overall thanks to the anime it probably became one of the most successful recent series.

Nice to see Kabaneri and JoJo are predicted to do well.
5 main aspects I base my ratings on:
1. Did DramaEnthusiast make a thread about it?
2. Is it better than Breaking Bad?
3. Did MellowJello recommend the shit out of it?
4. Has it caused a (very entertaining) shitstorm on MAL?
5. Is it actually good?

Scratch the fifth point, it's not very relevant...

I knew Iron Fortress would be a hit..but at 10k already? nice

Also glad to see that Haifuri is also doing well...maritime series may not be popular in the west but it always has a good reception from the Japanese fandom. they have a lot of pride for there navy being an island nation and all and i can relate. (from an island nation as well me).

I just hope that Re:Zero gets a bit more of a boost later..if the darker aspects are done right....if not than since white fox is doing it..i just hope they can give it a good closure. (just dont repeat what you did with akame ga kill pls) This being a two cour show..already got me more than most of the genre would hope for but more would be nice :D.

not surprised by Terraformers....Just what the hell where those guys thinking? they made it worse than s1..where they high or something when they agreed to this?

Big Order i am a little disappointed but at the same time not surprising...it has to many flaws in it..which what makes it so fun to watch...it is like watching a b-class movie...a b-class anime..one that are so bad that they are good XD...HAHA

Anime licensor pay in advance and then they share the profit once they earn more that what they have already paid. This means that if an anime get licensed in another country it has already made a profit.

Atleast grimgar will make it's money back :(

People consider OPM a flop because of the immense hype and popularity when it aired and now look at the BD sales, shameful.

You may want to read this here:
One-Punch Man is one of the most impressive TV anime productions this year, one that casual fans and experts, viewers and industry members are equally amazed by. These fans are so impressed by its visuals that the character designer and chief animation director Chikashi Kubota had to put out a tweet to clear up some misconceptions, saying that even if people were getting the impression that the show is being supported by a large animation budget, the truth is that they are working with average figures. He went on to explain that what we are seeing is the product of passionate artists doing their best. Finding out exactly who is behind all this spectacular craft seems like a good idea, then.

so no, your comment is false and incorrect.

Whooaa glad to see Macross Delta and Super lovers selling well that makes me super happy being a huge fan of both series :'D I'm just a bit worried for Kuromukuro, Sailor Moon Crystal and Nijiiro Days sales but mostly for Nijiiro Days cause if I'm not mistaken volume 1 only sold 166 :( that's quite terrible but I have faith volume 2 would sale better.

Surprising amazon rank. Just started Macross, seems promising.
Some aren't listed, Mayoiga, Kuromukuro, Ace Attorney, shorts luluco etc.
Need to watch Akito someday.

One Punch Man not a flop...why do people keep saying that.

Because they have no clue on these sorts of things. One Punch Man was nowhere near flop status, but of course the sheep mentality is very strong in the Western fanbase. They probably just lapped up that One Punch Man apparently flopped from some other Western forum...

Mod Edit: Modified quote of edited post.

They most likely did it because of the annoying fanbase that compares the mc of OPM to any other mc in every comment section of an anime ever, i mean holy shit, the fanbase is more annoying than SAO and AOT and i liked both of those animes.
