Why? How could they do such a thing?

http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2016-04-25/chi-sweet-home-manga-gets-new-3dcg-anime-this-fall/.101443

First Precure, then Berserk, and now this, it's not right. The studios need to stop ruining our beloved franchises with full CG please.

Never got around to watching Chi's Sweet Home but it looks hella cute
As long as it didn't look too different from the original, I wouldn't mind, but...

depends on how well the cg is done. ushinawareta was ok in terms of character design/animation. gochuumon also used CG and it looks great.
You can buy lossless digital music from your favorite Japanese artists on https://ototoy.jp/.
The songs are all DRM-free and you can re-download your purchased albums as you wish.
Show your support to your favorite artist if you can!
ps. if you are looking for Japanese albums, you have to search it in Japanese (not romaji). Just copy and paste the name.

Gochiusa wasn't full CG though, also studios are not ready to bring full CG anime that has quality CG. Toei tried last year and failed so even Toei or Sunrise with their budgets can't handle it yet.

CGI can look good, take the Evas in the Evangelion rebuilds for example.

Chi's sweet home eh.

Hmmm... would this remake even exist if it wasn't being done in CG. I mean... the market's just saturated right now.

Well we'll see how it goes. Maybe it can still capture the lightheartedness of the original.

Ajin looks great once you get used to the choppiness. However, I don't think CG remakes should be done.

Toei don't exactly care about the quality... i mean, look at sailor moon crystal and dragon ball super. they know people will still watch those mainstream series despite the crap animation quality. ushinawareta was full cg iirc, and looked pretty ok.
the cg used in Aikatsu, especially in later seasons wasn't bad at all (though just like gochuusagi, it was limited to mostly the dance sequence/performance)

Forgot my episodes watched... It's relaxing & cute. But not sure the demand. Madhouse too busy for this probably.
Kids shows are already full of CG. Don't think they mind.

the anime industry can already do awesome looking 3DCG with high movie budget
the reason anime TV series in 3DCG are bad looking is because of low budget it has
give it few more years and high quality 3DCG will become cheap enough for anime TV series budget

I wish these studios could be patient instead of forcing the future when it's too early for the technology to be cheap enough to make Aikatsu Stars and above tier CG in all TV anime.

Aikatsu Stars is also using cheap CG, don't be delusional.

It's a little too early to say it's ruined, I think. Chi's Sweet Home has a fairly simple style anyway, so it may turn out okay compared to some of the other CG anime out there. I'm more worried about it losing the charm the original had, rather than the fact that it's CG in general.

If it's figurine-style CGI a la the figurine promo, I won't mind.

Anyway, I can't speak for the manga, but the second season was vastly inferior since there were more concepts that stretched the suspension of disbelief of the "realistic cat, except with internal monologue" premise. I hope Chi's antics are less cartoonish and more relatable like first season Chi's.

It's because you have the second season on your PTW list, I guess.

But don't watch it, watch the first season only.

I still haven't seen the second season and I don't plan on seeing the third. It was cute but I don't think Chi would work well in 3DCG. It would be like the Garfield movies but without real people.

I've never watched an anime that airs four times a week before. Did any of you watch either of the first two while they were airing?

I literally thought this topic was a joke because of all the 3D release hate, until I checked the link. Why mess with something that was already done well in 2D?

I am guessing this has to be cheaper for them? Otherwise I'm not understanding the appeal. If anyone knows please enlighten me.

Madhouse won't ever get off their ass, so you should be glad we're at least getting something, most children's anime are heavily CG based so it isn't really a surprise to see this franchise go in this direction as well.

Chi's Sweet Home looks really cute and I'm glad its getting more anime adaptations. While its not my preference, CG anime sometimes turn out okay. I think there's too much pessimism here. There have been a few decent CG works and CGI sometimes looks really good!

Not sure how to feel. Most CG from Japan usually looks really bad/fake (AKB0048 dance segments, Keroro Gunsou "Chibi Kero" specials, Gon...), unless it's a movie with a high budget.

But I'll still watch it. At least we're getting some kind of third season. Hope this one will follow the "official" storyline, and not go for a completely new story like the second season did.

I got so excited until I saw 'full CGI'... I'm not writing it off immediately--some 3D can be done well in anime--but let's face it, like Keitaro004 said, the well-done examples are usually high-budget movies.

Well, I'm gonna at least try to wait to go full OTL until we get a PV.

I think this could possibly ruin the cuteness of the show, but I guess I'll wait for the PV and possibly first few eps to judge, maybe, just maybe they'll be able to pull it off...

Although I was pretty excited when I saw notification but after reading CGI I got sad (I'm really not a fan of it) and now I don't know what to expect :/

The artstyle is simple enough that CG shouldn't be a problem, especially if they put enough effort into textures (eg. Usavich).

Agree. Nothing was lost by going CG. Plus each episode is 10 minutes long instead of the past seasons of being 3 minutes. This must mean people hate all the Disney and Pixar animation out there.

Just seen the episode, the CG was really really well done! This is more like the CG used in western animated movies.

Just watched and yeah, looks cute and actually pretty good! Moar Chi is always a good deal to me, gave it already a 10/10 (lol). <3

I don't get the hate on CG either. I do understand there is really bad CG in anime (just look at the first episode of Monster Hunter), but there is good CG too. When it is well done, I don't have any complains o-o
