This was a great movie. It definitely deserves to be considered the best movie of 2006. So all of you who havent seen it should. It is a good watch while waiting for 5cm per Second.

on the streets of downtown manhattan there's a lot of banners and flags where you can see makoto leaping. Underneath it says "New York Children's Film Festival". Blasphemy! >_<

-_-lll Western perceptions of anime being only either kid shows or porn is one of the most annoying parts about being an anime fan. The frustrating thing is no one believes you when you show them something that clearly isn't either. It's like they can't accept animation as a real art form that can and should at times be taken seriously.

P.s. This movie was amazing.

Oh yes, clearly Neon Genesis Evangelion was meant only for little kiddies to enjoy ~

Lol, I thought the movie was great too. Now I'm just hoping for 5cm to come out soon :D

Far from the best movie. But it's a good watch.

Man oh man did I love this.
Almost everything I love about a film/anime was included in TokiKake, so I was either happy/on the edge of my seat/or in tears at all times :P

Definitely pimping this out to everyone that'll listen to me~. Chiaki ftw~

Also, there's something interesting on TT if you search for TokiKake, something called "Toki Wo Kakeru Shoujo - Live Movie [Anime Prequel]" comes up. I've searched for info about this and it seems that it is indeed a live-action movie that was made in 1983 that features Makoto's "witch aunt" from TokiKake.
I'm currently downloading it so I don't know if that's 100% true, but I'll find out soon and post back with what it is (unless someone that already knows wants to enlighten me? ^^)

There's actually something like up to 6 live action versions of the story windy. I can find at least 3 on amazon japan, and I know there's been some made-for-TV version as well.

The movie was really enjoyable, but as VnTB said: far from the best. Definitely worth seeing though.

Really enjoyed it, and I probably would've missed out if it wasn't for the eyecatching "GO WATCH THIS" in the title.

I'm on a serious dropping spree lately, it's pleasant to see a somewhat more original anime (movie) again.

Now I've read your comments to this movie and decided to watch it..
I read the synopsis about the movie. Since i haven't watched it yet i can't say if it's true, but to me the plot sounds a little like that of the butterfly effect.
I'll look forward to watch it when it's done downloading.

EDIT: Watched it now. I like it really much.

I often don't feel like crying after a movie but a few have brought me to tearing up a little.. This one didn't bring a tear to my eye or anything but it was sure close. I def think more ppl should see this and I only found out about it b/c it was in the Top 10. It has a rightful place there I think :)

Edit: Hey it moved up to number one. Was it at number 1 before? I just voted so hmm.

I'm surprised I finally got to watch this. I did enjoy it, I thought it was a good movie, but I do wish there was a bit more closure for the 'fated couple' (?). Anyway, I gave it an eight, good movie~

I gave it a 7. It was good, not the best and not anywhere near excellence. I liked it a lot nevertheless and didn't get bored too much. In a way I kinda feel that it got a bit confused halfway through. At first it seemed like a feel good comedy and then in the second half it became melancholy and I didn't think the transition worked so well. Overall it was a good film as far as anime films go, excluding Ghiblis.

I've been meaning to see this for awhile ever since it came out in Japan and I was surprised to see it in the number one slot of the top ten list here. I watched a fansub of this a few days ago. It's a pretty awesome film and reminded me of Ghibli of old. I only gave it a 9 because I thought the ending was a little weaker for using a bit of Deus ex Machina to resolve the story but other than that it was great.

Ah, this made me cry, mainly because I've been through the same thing with someone like Chiaki without the happy-ish ending and the time leaps and I'm still suffering from it =/

I couldn't help thinking "Damn it, Chiaki, YOU MISSED!" at their last scene though >.<

Well to Start Best Movie Ever! 10/10 no discussion dot
I liked a lot the philosofical part of it and the way they expose the mistake that is wanting to leap back and change our actions :P

The end could be happier =S Still good ending.

(btw could someone pm me a 5 centimeter/second download link or torrent please)

This is easily the best anime movie I've seen in years (haven't seen 5cm yet). I immediately added TokiKake and Makoto Konno to my lists after I watched it. It also wins for having the best 10-or-so minute scene I've seen in any anime ever, during when Chiaki is explaining to Makoto about the future and such; the music and atmosphere was so haunting.

Someone said Chiaki missed? Yeah, I was going "CHIAKI, YOU IDIOT!!!"

I think the chances of them seeing each other again are pretty much nil, though. If not, then Makoto will be around 90 years old or something. That would SUCK.

The end was very touching indeed. I still prefer Makoto Shinkais works but Toki wo is a very good movie. Will rewatch sometime ^_^
