I think I caught the meaning of the title of Aimer's ED.
nine(9) = kyuu(9)
lie = uso
ninelie=kyuuso, which can also be written as 窮鼠 - a cornered rat. Which is what the characters are. That, and the lyrics of the song - from what I can make of them, are about abandoning hope and just fighting for your life between the walls of this savehold.
Anyhow, I might be wrong, but I thought I should share. ^_^

That's the kind of title I would expect from Sawano.

Cool to know, thanks for sharing. It had an in-series meaning after all.

2 Years later and I wondered what it meant. Thanks, OP, for a believable post/theory. lol

TheHollowShrine almost has it. The meaning of ninelie = cry.
The Japanese pronunciation of cry is (ku-rai)
ku = 9 = nine
'rai' is romanized to 'lie'
thus (ku-rai) becaomes (9-lie) or ninelie
This is further confirmed by the Hiroyuki Sawano song 'ninelie <cry-v>'
