Do you give an anime your watching a score while watching or after you finish?

i rate after finishing, i don't really see the point in rating something that's unfinished.

If it's really good I'll start rating it as early as ep. 2. If it's so-so or bad I'll wait until ep. 5 to give it a chance. Then I adjust as I go. After completion I'll compare it to other completed anime that are +1/-1 away as a reality check/comparison for a final score. I've never been off by more than one score by the time I get to the last step. On re-watches I re-evaluate the score.

If I predict that the anime will not be able to change my opinion on it and it is around half-way through the series, I will probably give it a score already. Not that it matters, I can always change the rating once I'm done with it.

usually over 10 eps with short anime and when I saw a built-up for the plot in long-running anime

I think it's a bit snobbish to rate something as soon as you start watching it.

I usually try to keep myself from rating it until I'm finished. In other cases, I only rate when I have watched enough to form a reasonable opinion on it.
I disagree, it's not necessarily a bad thing. Rating after every episode is a more dynamic kind of rating system.

Even if an anime gets an 8 rating in the end it's plain that some episodes are clearly better than others. Think of Dragon Ball Super episode 5. What some people do is rate after every episode and take the median of those scores at the end of the anime.

I usually do a mix of both dynamic and static rating. It really depends on the anime and my mood at the moment.

Rate as soon as possible and update on a weekly basis if needed.

Too big of a chance that I'm too influenced by the last couple episodes if I rate all at once at the end. There are lots of shows that start out really well and just nosedive with the last 3 episodes, or the other way around: start really shitty but become better over time and the chance that I just completly forget about and rate it too good or too bad depending on the last episodes is just too real for me otherwise.

I rate usually a week after I finish the show.
I usually rate based on the ending of the show.
That way I can judge whether the anime or it's characters stay with me after I finish and if I want to see more of it.

Rating while watching seems like a lot of work since the rating could change thrice in a single episode.

I usually rate after it's done airing or, at most, a week or two before the show ends.

I only made an exception for Gintama, which I rated a 10/10 from the get0go.

After I finish, some anime can have a great first few episodes and then go to hell or the other way around, where it starts lackluster and then gets pretty good.

I never rated anime before but if I did I would only rate it after I finished watching.

Definitely only after I have watched all the episodes.
Seriously, you need the full picture to rate fairly.

For me... I don't rate anime now, but back then when I used to, I rate all anime I'm watching when I finished watching it.

I have decided from hereon out to never rate anime again. I should probably erase all my anime scores.

What motivated you to not rate anime?

Numbers mean different things, its value varies to me and I'm not sure if I am comfortable labeling an anime with a number

Always after I finish the series, as during the airing of the show you can have a determinate score that you will change later due the ending.

I honestly can't be arsed to rate after every episode I watch, I don't even see the point to be honest. That would be like rating a movie after the first 10 minutes.

I only rate once and that's after I've watched the last episode.

I don't see why anyone would score during the series. The plot is still ongoing and that's a huge part of the show, also it's very misleading on the MAL score for the series itself.

Perhaps because the rating is not carved in stone. You are able to easily change it if you think you need to whenever you want with a few clicks you know. Plus even that score that you give it when it's completed might not be the one you think it deserves when you rewatch it down the road and then you'll have to change it again. You never know...

Thus since it doesn't matter either way, since the score is always in motion, just keeping a running score from early on and changing it when it needs it makes more sense.

I rate after I finish a show, unless it's a seasonal one, in which case I do so after half the show or so has aired.

There are some exceptions here and there, but that's how I usually roll with it.

If it's airing, I rate early on. (I started rating things by the 3rd episodes this season, and so far no major score changes occurred for me)

If it's already finished, I rate it after I complete it. (The only exception to this was Chaos Dragon; Fucking thing felt like a drag and I had to immediately give it a 1 because of that, in addition to being horrible in terms of presentation and writing)

I Like to wait for the season to end that way i get the whole perspective of what the show is trying to portray.

I rate something when I have a good idea about how I feel about it. I don't have to be finished with it but for example if I say, "Yeah, this is definitely a 6/10" then I'll go and put in my rating. My ratings are subject to change once I finish but usually I don't end up rating until I've completed it anyway

As long as the anime piques my interest from the start I'll be rating it very high it's nearly impossible for me not to rate any anime I'm watching anyways.

How an anime ends can be a big factor on how i rate an anime. so i always wait till i finish it. If its to bad to even finish then i wont rate it even.

I rate when I finish, or if I drop it, I rate it then.
Having said that, I'm not much of a rater in general, so some stuff doesn't get rated at all. It would kill me to change my rating all the time. I have a hard enough time doing it once.

I rate after watching series and most of time I will correct the score on a later date. I noticed that I don't see all the flaws of anime in en just after I watched them. So most anime get a downgrade.

Sometimes I rate anime right away, sometimes I rate anime after I've finished said anime.
My ratings are always subject to change variously.
Even after anime haven been finished for awhile my ratings tend to change.

I prefer to rate series once I finish then, but there have been occasions where I've rated them after watching at least half, mostly because the series was too long

I update it while I watch usually. Some of them I wait because I"m not really sure how i feel about it.
Sometimes I'll start a show and its a 9 but by the end it's a 3 or 4. Or sometimes it's the opposite.
It's just how I do it. No real reason other than it works for me.

Usually I wait till the final episode because, as someone else here said, it gives me a strange satisfaction to do that after finishing it.
But if the anime is really good (example death note) or really shitty (example boku no pico) right from the first episode, I rate it right away, then review my rating once I finish the series(if its good enough to keep watching), however anime THAT good or bad are rarely made so this also happens rarely.

I like to rate when I finish the entire thing but I sometimes make exceptions for material that just blows me away with how good it is. One recent example is KonoSuba, gave that a 9 and it stayed that way.
