It could work, but it would require some rather over the top actors, rather than just drama specialists. Though, like someone already said, not sure if want...

Since it is more normal (compared to other live-actions that have come) it COULD work. Like others have mentioned, the right actors are needed. Asian know how to make these type of films work. As long as there isn't a western remake - I'm all for it! Can't wait!

Yeah, after watching Detroit Metal City, I'm not sure either.

Oh....

That's interesting.
Not sure how well this is going to work. I think most actors wouldn't be able to convey the moods and facial emotions in the anime. I'm sure it will be decent but I imagine it will not compare to it's animated counterpart.

what a delay. this should be already finished in april 2009, as they said. well better late than never which results to better drama.

Ugh, this anime is GOOD though.

Can't they screw up a different one, like Naruto maybe?

If they do this, they need someone who naturally looks like Sawako, I WILL NOT ACCEPT MAKE UP AND WIGS!

wow this sounds like a bad idea. This is gonna flop big time. KnT is great because we get alot of animation that compliments the show really good. Like kawaii mode or the soft color filters that are showed every now and then. This will not be the case in the live action.

As opposed to many anime watchers, I actually enjoy japanese life action movies even if the characters look different and the story is altered in an enjoyable way. So, looking forward to this, interessted how it'll turn out..

Murrrzmm. Not really sure if it would work out that well. Let's say that some of the conversations between real people would be a bit .. awkward, every now and then? For example, I never met a guy in my life that blushes as much as Kazehaya does. (Now that I think of it, haven't I, actually? No, but really? That's impossible.)

I am not surprised, this is one of the few anime that work live action, just get the girl who played Sadako in Ringu to do it.

Wow, I´m very curious. Anime has unique atmosphere beacause of its typical art, but I wonder how to covert it into the live action. A perfect casting, a decent music, a good scenarist and a director... it´s not enough. They must catch that "Kimi ni todoke very own magic" and put in on the silver screen. Well, it is rather suicidal annoucement than ambitious project - Can you imagine somebody, who intends to do any Makato Shinkai live action? No, that won´t do...
But I will be looking forward it and I want to watch this upcoming movie too. It sounds interesting, no matter how the final result will look like.
