That's a lot of candy. That made shit rather obvious. Great episode. I'm happy everything will be fine from now on for Kayo. Hopefully we'll see her back again, though.

All that candy in Yashiro's car; a classic trick to lure in kids. But other than that sudden 'oh sht, he's gonna find out' reaction from Yashiro. He doesn't seem as suspicious as before. Good episode though, just a strange ending. I look forward to the final 3 episodes.

That's all? Kayo leaving the city? So this is Boku dake ga Inai Machi?

After all victims saved, Satoru going back to the future and meet with people he saved. Because he may not dwell in the past where Airi in the future.(?)

Kayo's mom's sob story, I felt bad for her until I saw her punch Kayo when she was worried about her. Then I remembered that she let her die.

Sensei and Satoru's mom would make a great couple, the way he was staring at her in the rear mirror

Using lollipops as bait to kidnap little children? lol, our teacher friend is pretty old-fashioned, isn't he?

I have to be brutally honest: when Kayo's mom suddenly turned around and punched Kayo in the face I burst out laughing. Like... that happened way too fast, and the way Kayo small silhouette just flew back was the icing on the cake. 10/10 comedy.

Anyway, for some episodes now this feels a bit too average to be in the top, but whatever. It was a nice episode, glad Kayo got taken away from 2016's best mom. Still, I hate how the teacher's portrayed. I would've really liked it if he hooked up with Satoru's mom, he seems like he'd be a great father to the kid. Seems...

Uh, that ending make me wonder : since he changed the future, what are the odds that killer take the same target again? He also killed Hiromi to put the detective on another track, but there is no point to do it now. I feel like the girl at the end will be the next victim.

I hope Hinazuki storyline isn't over :/
Their relationship was so cute... :(

I don't know how to take the candy scene. It's too big of a bait... Seriously, it's like they've thrown it in our face. At the same time, his traits match way too much with the killer, so it almost make it impossible that he's not the killer.

The scene with the crying mom was so manipulative. On the other hand, it has been statistically that parent that beat their children have been beaten or abused in some way in the past. But yeah, it was kinda like ''look, the mom have her problem too!'' while she still killed her child in one storyline and smiled about the thought of being child-free.

there is also no reason for the killer to wait for hinazuki to before going after the other victims he was waiting to ki,ll but if he did that it would show how satoru is retarded for only thinking about kayo safety and ignoring any other potential victim

Interesting development regarding the teacher. I still see him as a suspect, but now I'm not so sure. The scene bringing the Kayo arc to a closure was very good, but now we are starting on the other two victims with only three episodes left.

HOLLLYYY CRAPP. R U SRS? Did I seriously watch the teacher freaking try to cover his GIGANTIC
STASH of lollipops and pass it off as a way to deal with his past smoking addiction?

NOT suspicious at all, wow. Legit only Satoru is the one who is not seeing this. He suspects (KNOWS) child abductions
and murders are going on. Sees stash of candy. Nothing registers. Wow. Step up your game, man.

Oh, I completly forgot that the killer would frame someone for the murders.

If that is the case, then the teacher is WAY beyond being the next fall guy. Him not being married, the candy in the car. The killer is going to freak out when he sees this gold mine of a scape goat.

Are you joking...?

Good episode. I have a very strong feeling I know who the killer is. Won't say it though incase I'm right and spoil it for someone (although I haven't actually read the full manga, I' just making a strong guess.)

Welcome to episode 2

I got all the evidence now to know who is the center of the murders. In fact this episode pretty much confirmed my theory if it isn't obvious yet.

Great series. I'm glad that this is getting the source ending so I don't have to resort to reading the manga. Its worth the wait to know if what I got from this show is right.

Yes. It's extremely obvious.

Nezperdian said:
I... I'm confused... Hiromi was a boy all this time?

>grab of hands
Oh... shotacon? Yaoi?
>nothing like that
Almost...

Trap of the season?

Him being a boy was literally a giant plot point brought up in episode 5/6. They mentioned Hiromi was killed because the killer thought he was a girl despite him actually being a boy. It was implied that the killer did this on purpose to mislead the authorities and get him off the suspect list.

I'm excited for stuff to go super speedy fast the next three episodes, jk. I read ahead in the Manga and I don't think it will feel that rushed. I liked this episode quite a bit and was glad to see it play out on screen (though I personally thought this episode would cover a bit more due to time constraints). I find it really intriguing that the manga and anime are going to end at roughly the same time as each other, i've never heard of that happening before.

It happens quite a lot actually. FMA Brotherhood is a popular example, and Assassination Classroom is a recent example. 18 monthly lengthed chapters in 3 episodes is ridiculous though. How can you call that not rushing? Even though the chapters are pretty short for monthly length, they are still twice or longer the length of a weekly series. In total, it'd be the equivalent of adapting 36-40 weekly lengthed chapters into 3 episodes. Or 12 chapters an episode... that's INSANE. Most anime covers 2 chapters an episode. Some anime covers just 1. EXTREMELY fast paced anime like Jojos and Ass Class (which are largely action shows so they can get away with it) cover 5 at max. 12 is RIDICULOUS.

Crashmatt said:
I have not read the Manga but as a viewer it does not feel rushed to me. People always go batshit crazy over 12 episode shows being rushed but this is not one of them. Get a grip people.

Good episode though the teacher is looking very guilty. wonder who the girl was at the end?

This isn't one of them? This is the worst of them all. I've never seen them have to adapt the equivalent of 12 weekly lengthed chapters into a single episode. I've been reading the manga after watching the episodes, and they have been cutting out a LOT. And that was when they weren't even rushing. These next 3 episodes are going to be ridiculous.

I hate how they literally spent 9 episodes on the abuse storyline and the pay-off for that was that the grandmother asks forgiveness for her daughter who beats the shit out of her kid. Sorry, but that doesn't cut it. It's not enough. It was basically forced drama that didn't even have a good pay-off to make it up.

But then again, this whole anime started off strong, but thanks to this weird pacing and other things, it's turning out to be kinda lame.

This teacher is annoying me. Great character though because I can't help but be suspicious of him and times and then take it back a little later. Only to suspect him again at any given time.

If things go alright, I hope Satoru can meet with Kayo when he goes back to the present time.

I'm happy that Kayo's alright, I'm happy for her, and her mother isn't really bad... After that past.

But SENSEEEEEEEEEI What's up with these candies ! He's really suspicious now, I mean, we never seen the teacher smoking o-o And why all this "No Satoru, don't open it!!!" for jus candies ? e-e

I mean.. I don't think he's the killer, maybe it's just a trick to make us believe that he's bad.

He quit smoking.
Lollipops are often taken up as a new habit by former smokers since a lot of the smoking addiction is to the habit itself, rather than the nicotine. You'll also see former smokers take up stuff like beef jerky, or candy sticks, etc. It's one of the reasons why smokers gain weight after quitting; they need to replace the habit and take to eating since the gesture is pretty similar. I think I was buying a pack of gumdrops a day after I quit.
I guess he knew they would fall out all over the place, and it can be a pretty embarassing habit to have as a male teacher (also, red herrings are fun).

Pretty shitty though of all people she should have known how it felt to be abused, and wanted that to be the last thing for her child. In my mind that just makes her even more of a POS.

This was an oddly realistic depiction of abuse, which tends to be more of a cycle than spontaneous behaviour; usually abusers are people who were subject to abuse themselves. The only thing that doesn't make sense is the boyfriend who partakes in it.

So this time around, the show try’s to get all psychological and claims that kayos mom beat her because of her own abuse from her boy friend. The problem with this is that the abuse is presented in an extreme manner that leaves the realm of believably. The black and white morality really annoys me, even when it starts to get a bit gray with the mother, she always ends up being demonized; which begs the question: what was the point of all of that? In the hopes that you'll feel something the series exaggerates emotional moments beyond the realm of believably. Moving along, the lingering motive as to why I should care continues, because satou has completely forgotten that the whole reason why he is here is to stop his mom from being killed, and not to pursues his dream of saving lolis. Why does this character care so desperately to save these girls, there is no story given reason nor will it benefit him in any way. However, subtlety is something this guy really has to learn, no actually its something the writer should needs to learn. At this point the series has derailed completely off track, from both a story and writing perspective.

It'd being unfortunate if he still ended up in his future situation, and only erased the evidence of past cases done by the culprit. It'd be a lot harder to prove his innocence though. I'd hope preventing the killings saves his mom, but I don't see that happening unless she doesn't notice the culprit in action after being told to look around.

OMG,
Because Satoru is going to protect Hiromi and Aya, is the killer, aka the pedophilic teacher who lures kids in his car with candy (I think. I highly doubt its to relieve the stress of stopping smoking... especially from his reaction at first...), going to target different kids? Otherwise, it'll just keep happening over and over again (Satoru's mom would eventually find out and get killed, and Satoru would go back in time to save the kids).
Blahhhh xD

Satoru turns to the stalking method to save the next possible victim, Aya Nakanishi. He clearly has a tougher case with this one, in that he doesn’t even attend the same school as her. It is also suspicious that she spends a lot of time with our non-killer Yuuki. He’s pretty popular with the young ladies (and Satoru) for some reason. Following Aya to figure out her schedule is pretty creepy, but I suppose it’s for the best of causes. More of a private investigator in a kid’s body? Satoru got some pretty good advice from his mom, in that he should just ask her to be friends. That has a certain element of risk, but it could also be the easiest way. If she said no, you could still creepily investigate. You’re already going with that path Satoru!

The amazing twist red-flag of this week got me again. I really shouldn’t be so trusting of my initial reactions to what seem like obviously clear conclusions. When all of that candy fell out of his glove compartment, I practically yelled “HE’S A KIDNAPPER”, but even it had a relatively believable excuse. Most people who quit smoking quickly replace it with a lesser habit to ween themselves appropriately. It’s completely normal, but I’m still very suspicious of Yashiro-sensei. I just can’t get behind a certain villain in this show for sure. Too many false flags to throw us off the trail.

It was all worth it for this.

They're either skipping and merging a lot or they're going for another route to get to the manga ending, no way they would attempt to do this madness if they didn't knew what they were doing.

This. Everyone is saying how it will be ridiculously rushed in the next 3 episodes but they will just massively skip and leave out things in order to cover the bare bones and reach the ending. This was already done for episode 1 anyways. The ratings will remain high because for the majority of the viewers how much of the source material the anime covers won't matter as long as it's good.

Is that really how Kayo's story ends? I'm happy she's safe, but the way it played out seemed slightly odd and underwhelming to me.

With the closing scene of Satoru's classmate, could she become a victim? With history changed now that Kayo's safe, maybe the killer could choose a replacement other than either of the two that followed Kayo? The shot of her alone in the classroom (or just including any of that footage of her) would seem kind of pointless otherwise... Who knows, maybe she's just an ass and is pissed that Kayo's not there to pick on anymore.

Sachiko is best fucking mom! When she grabbed the seats in the car with so much force and all she wanted was a lollipop I lost it!

This anime finds ways to impress me every damn week. The scene that did it this week was when Kayo and Satoru were talking and the animation did a down Pan from the sky to the ground, it was beautiful, I wish I had a gif of that but damn was that fantastic.
There were a few parts where the faces they made were...meh...but overall the episode was fantastic.

Now the focus is saving the other two victims, it's gonna be rushed but being someone who didn't read the Manga I really don't care, I just want it to end well.

Also I think that's enough proof that Sensei is a scumbag.

The candy in sensei's glovebox was suspicious as fuck; but it doesnt seem like they would give such an obvious hint if hes the killer.

didnt really understand the last scene with the random girl being the last one to leave class.

Good episode, but i don't understand the final scene. I wonder if the children killed were killed by chance and the murderer can have other victims too, or if the murderer only wanted to kill those in particular.
The scene in which Satoru found candys in Yashiro's car gave me so much suspicions, i suspected him since ever because there aren't other people to suspect xD
I'm so happy for Kayo, i hope she meet Satoru again in the future. But i have the presentiment that this serie is gonna have a sad or tragic ending. I think Satoru's gonna save the children but something bad is gonna happen to him... or something sad like that. It's not spoiler because i don't read the manga, is only my presentiment because this serie don't have the looks to have a happy ending. T.T

I see all of these people saying that they are rushing things sure it could of been a little slower, but as a viewer who isnt reading the manga I found it to be pretty damn good. The people here don't rate episodes on whether they are good or enjoyable to watch. Most of the people here rate it on the adaption quality which is kind of dumb since this isn't a comparison forum it's only for the anime. Rate the show, not the adaption.

I am so tempted to read the manga and find out what you guys are talking about... must resist...

Agreed! I don't know the original story and am trying to resist reading it because the show is keeping me interested and curious, and doesn't feel rushed or dragging. With any show people who know the original light novel/game/manga story will compare it to that, but for those who us enjoying it new just judge it as you know it :)

So going back to my theory that some things in the timeline HAVE TO HAPPEN, I'm seeing that since he saved Hinazuki, another victim will just take her place. I want to think that that is not the case, but that's what it looks like seeing the ending of this episode. There're only 3 episodes left! I'm getting tensed as we get close to the ending.

Possibly yes. We never know. This anime doesn't seem like it'll have rainbows and butterflies for its ending.

What false flags? There are literally zero false flags. 100% of everything points to the teacher. If you argument is that "it makes him look like a red herring" then tell me literally ONE other person that could be the killer. If you can't come up with an answer then either.

A.) It's someone we haven't been introduced to do (no murder mystery does this ever as it's incredibly stupid for it to be some random person)

B.) These so called "false flags" aren't false flags at all. The killer was just that obvious from the get go.

It can't be time traveling Satoru, as his mother's reaction in episode 1 doesn't make any sense if that were the case.
It can't be the pizza manager, as we know the killer was the person he was talking to.
It can't be Kenya, as the person messing around in the bus was clearly labeled as an adult.
We know it's not the mother or the boyfriend.
It's not Yuuki, as he was in jail during episode 1 so he couldn't have been who the mom saw.
It can't be the reporter, because why would she contact the murderer that she saw and learned the identity of?

The only slightly possible person it could potentially be is Yuuki's father, but that's only because he hasn't been on screen enough to be completely ruled out. But it would be really dumb for him to frame his own son.

It's the teacher, and you can stop fooling yourself into thinking this show is smarter than it is. These aren't false flags, it's just really obvious.

Weird ending. Just where are Satoru, Kenya and Hiromi going?

I felt that all the candy in the teacher's car was a bit too obvious. As if there were little things that made us foolishly believe he's the perpetrator of the abductions/murders.
We'll have to wait & see I guess.
