Comparing the first few episodes, pretty much everything about FMAB appears to be shoddier. The character designs and art are simpler and less detailed, the animation is much slower, less dynamic, and looks "cheap and shoddy", the voice acting is poorer, etc. Aside from the fact that it continues where the first series ran out of source material, I'm really not seeing why it gets #1 in MAL rankings, even with MAL being MAL.

First off: I gave the original FMA a 4/10 and FMA:B a 6/10 so I'm not really a fan of this series.

What makes FMA:B better for me was the better story and the better character interaction overall. I think the animation and art is, if anything, better in FMA:B than in the original one so I don't know... maybe it's just not for you.

seriously though, you dropped Brotherhood after 5 episodes. You dropped a 64 episode anime after 5 episodes, and are comparing the 5 episodes you've seen to the 51 episodes of the other version. Of course the you think the other version is better. Now if you had finished both and still said the other version was better, I would understand.

Then again, you're just comparing the visuals and voice acting, which is completely subjective, and even if it wasn't, a series isn't "vastly inferior" because it has worse animation and worse voice acting.

here ends a mini-essay by a salty FMAB fan.

The part in bold is your problem.
If you are not a fan of the manga then you probably won't like this version anyway.

Not going to defend FMA or FMAB since too be quite frank, I thought both were just "okay" but what do you mean when you say "FMA ran out of source material". FMA didn't follow the source material, so saying "it ran out of source material" is kind of . . . wrong.

Of course it followed the source material, they're pretty much identical in the beginning.

Yes, and then quickly abandoned "the source material". Not due to "running out of the source material".

Eh, it's not that much worse, but I was kinda expecting improvements in the animation, and the horrifically slow pacing and the way they take a ridiculous amount of time for transmutations makes it seem a lot worse than it really is.
It still gets too much merit just for following the manga =/

how about watching more than 5 episodes before saying that brotherhood is way worst than the first version?

I didn't watch the original so I can't compare them. But you just watch it until the ending, and then you have the right to give an opinion.

It works for me too with HxH, at first I really looked down 2011 compared to the 99 in the beginning episodes but after 2011 reach Chimera Arc everything change.
