Not everyone "wants" to be rich, but I'm sure anyone except for the most ascetic would prefer to be rich over the alternative.

Not gonna lie, I want to be rich. Money is everything in my current condition, just for returning the favor, especially to my parents. I know they don't demand that I should be expected to support them everytime, at least I can lessen my 'debt' to my parents for taking care of me since I was a child.

I do want to receive something of value(money) if I ever create something of value.

If I'm good at what I do... then I do want to get rich.

I believe most people wants to be rich but for different reasons. Me, I don't want to be rich so that I can buy unnecessary shit, become popular or stop working. No I want to be rich so I can be as independent and powerful as possible. Tell people to fuck off.

Who doesn't want money? Money is cool.

However if everyone is rich, then no one is, so I'd like to only be part of the 2% of America.

Lots of youngesters attend college with no clear goal. You're destined for a life of mediocrity if you plan on working under someone. You don't become wealthy that way.

Plan on having multiple sources of income and your own businesses.

Don't be lazy and have a clear vision.

Being rich solves a lot of the most basic problems people have.

I, for one, would love to have juuuuust enough money that I could let it sit there in the bank and live comfortably off the interest.
It's never gonna happen though. Studies have shown that with the exception of "marrying upwards" or spontaneous fame/lottery wins (both of which are a crapshoot if you ask me) it takes on average 10-15 generations for a family to move up a social class (working to middle, middle to upper) and roughly the same amount of time for a family to move down. Of course there are exceptions, but for the most part society has always been very well geared to keep the poor poor and the rich rich.

I dunno. I'm pretty sure everybody does want to be rich since it solves so many problems. I think what really differs is how much of a priority it is.

You're better off learning a trade than going to college if you don't have a clear goal in mind.

At least with a trade you learn a valuable in demand skill you can live off of.

Taking a major you'll never use is a waste of time.

I would be satisfied if I had my college loans paid off and enough to take care of family and friends but naw I wouldn't want to be rich because if i magically got money without working for it then it's really not mine to begin with and there's no feel of accomplishment. And being rich brings its own stresses / drama such as people treating you differently suddenly people want to be your friend because what you have not because they actually like / respect you or enjoy being around you. Same kind of thing when it comes to relationships I wouldn't want people throwing themselves at me just because I had money.

I guess I kind of want to be "rich", but I don't want money to buy myself useless things that would rot away. Things only mean more responsibility and I already have enough entertainment to last me the rest of my life anyway. No, it would have to be enough to buy power. Hundreds of billions. Pocket change doesn't matter to me.

I think everyone wishes they had more money, but not everyone is willing to spend so much time and effort getting it. Some prefer to use what they currently have.

No one is going to say 'no' if you offer them a billion of dollars out of the blue. Once you ask them to do something to gain it, their acceptance will change depending on how important it is to them.

I don't really see why there'd be any legitimate reason to not want to be rich. Even if you're not a materialistic person, you can just leave it in the bank and be assured of always having sufficient funds. That safety net will always be nice.

My mother always told me when growing up "So long as there's food on the table and a roof over your head, you're doing alright" and I agree with it. I certainly wouldn't turn down the chance to become rich though.

Well it would be nice, that's for sure. Not to say I would stop working, since a daily lifestyle of fun would get boring fast, too.

It is to grow in the open air and to eat and sleep with the earth.
-Walt Whitman

A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. I have no interest in being rich. I just want enough money to support my family with and have a tiny bit left over for pleasure. I wouldn't even know what to do with too much money. I'm not really interested in cars, big houses, boats, or other things that people tend to like to spend a lot of money on. I'd probably just let some of it sit in the bank and then give the rest away to charities.

it's not true, some people genuinely don't care. my mom is an example of that. can't really say i understand that point of view, but it exists.
tho it depends on what you mean by "rich". if you mean like super crazy rich, then tbh i think many people wouldn't want that. i know i wouldn't. excess of money doesn't appeal to me at all because it goes way beyond the main point of money, which is safety and enjoyment.

Well OP, I do not lust for riches but i do desire financial security. Meaning my NEEDS are looked after and maybe once in a while buy some WANTS that aren't wildly expensive.

If i woke up the next day and won 10 million dollars from the lotto i would likely rip up the ticket.

If i built up the money over time and hit certain miles stones while adapting to each wealth milestone then i would keep it.

The devil is in the details you see... HOW you acquire it is important. I don't care how smart you think you are if you win millions of dollars and come from poverty your life will be ruined and so will lives around you.
