I am shipping Kiku and Miyokichi so hard, but I have a feeling she will get together with Sukeroku in the end =/

This backstory is taking time though.
I've got no complaints, I like it.
Kiku's life isn't an easy ride
The woman is quite beautiful (the one who wants kiku's monkey D. luffy)
I guess he can open up a bit more to the girl because it seems that she likes Kuku.
Feeling incompetent, Kiku can come through.
This backstory is really developing his character.
Great episode. 4/5

Really happy to see that Kiku has finally found his own rakugo.

I kind of had a feeling Kiku was always doing Rakugo for himself rather than for the audience. Interesting to know he was trying to be a Geisha in the past.

At first he thought of Rakugo as a job but I think that has changed as of now. He's doing it for himself to an extent but now it's combined with doing it truly for the audience~

So we finally got 'shinjuu' rakugo, foreshadowing about things to come I guess? I wonder if Sukeroku would be only one that dies though as it seem present Yakumo has (or had) a wife.

Anyway, it seems that Yurakutei found himself at last. Kinda interesting how his playing was suddenly similiar to his older self.

Beautiful voice acting.

I think we all know which actor deserves to win ALL the awards when they do the seiyuu awards next year.

In addition to the daily, there is now also an important step in the plot, very good! Narrative that keeps its connotations, well crafted and directed, gives us an idea of what I spent Kiku in the past, combined with his character, the result is what we see, but it can not be blamed for as it has become. The promo at the end of episode, it looks quite interesting.

Another great episode! I do wonder when we'll see more of the future rather than their past though!

Oh woaw
I'm just speechless at the end of all episodes

Kiku's rakugo is kinda unfinished.. Am I the only one think like that? xD

Wow this was a great episode!
I was so happy for Kiku- finally getting to perform his own Rakugo, as well as understanding why he even wants to do it and who for.
It was the first time I was bewitched by his performance, and I might be falling in love with him a little bit XD

Looking forward to next episode!

Very good episode. Character development at it finest. ;)

Yakumo's Rakugo in this episode was the first time I actually enjoyed and laughed during any of these Rakugo performances. So, it increased the impact of his character development in this episode, and him finding his own style of Rakugo that entertains the audience to that extent, even more. Until now, I liked how the performances were executed, and all the drama surrounding them, but I didn't care much about the acts themselves, probably because the loud slapstick humor that's usually in them doesn't work for me.

I actually didn't recognize Miyokichi without her geisha makeup. She looks great, especially in the outfit that she wore to visit Kiku 😊
I wonder how their relationship will unfold since I don't remember seeing her in episode 1...

And the performance was great, but I felt like it ended so inconclusively. But that might be because I don't fully understand rakugo's method of storytelling.

I'm glad things are looking up for Yakumo! His rakugo seems to have gotten much more emotion in it, and he's figured out what his strengths are.

However, the fact that his piece was about a lovers' suicide reminded me of the title of the show, as well as the fact that this is a flashback all leading up to a tragic event...subtle foreshadowing that's keeping me nervous/reminding me that everything's not going to turn out peachy in the end.

I've been getting this strong feeling Kikuhiko is gay but he just doesn't realize it yet.

So happy for Kikuhiko. He finally realized why he's doing rakugo and what kind of rakugo genre he's really good at. His seiyuu really did a great job. Yoku yatta, Ishida-san. :)

Yakumo is getting answers to the doubts he had and that lead to a massive improvement in his performance, this is definitely a very important moment in his career.

"But I can't swim" "That's perfect!" That part was really funny.

It was only in this episode I managed to pick up on the fact Yakumo uses atashi as a pronoun... That's pretty unusually feminine. Kind of makes him even more queercoded than he already is.

Kikuki's best rakugo so far loved the story and his inner thoughts are just perfect for him.

"If only he had been born a woman." I really like that contrast between Yamuko and Konatsu. I have really enjoyed Yamuko go through the process of developing his own style of rakugo. I think it was important to distinguish him as a master in the first episode and then contrast that mastery of rakugo with him stumbling through it for many many years while Sukeroku seemed to instantly get the hang of it. Nice relaxing episode.

Such wonderfully opposites they were.

And i must say, i do enjoy Kikuhiko's rakugo better than Sukeroku's. It's much calmer and more beautiful.

Though i now understand why he later took the daughter of Sukeroku's to his care. While she wished she had born as a man, Kikuhiko wished to be born as woman.
