A scan of Young Ace's upcoming issue, available on February 4, has revealed that the manga Boku dake ga Inai Machi will end in the magazine's next issue, to be released on March 4.

Boku dake ga Inai Machi, which began publishing in June 2012 in Young Ace, is drawn by Kei Sanbe. Its seventh volume was released on December 22. The manga was featured on the "Kono ga Manga Sugoi!" list in 2015 and 2016, ranking ninth and tenth, respectively. It was also a runner-up for the Manga Taisho Award in 2014 with a total of 82 points, and in 2015, it ranked fourth with a total of 57 points.

The manga received a TV anime adaptation by A-1 Pictures in Winter 2016 and is currently on-going. Aniplex of America licensed the series, and it is being simulcast by Crunchyroll, Daisuke, and FUNimation.

So is the manga doing poorly or is it cause the mangaka wants to end it?

There's already seven volumes. Maybe it's time to end it.

it was already a known fact that the manga would have ended before the anime did

If it was doing poorly it wouldn't have received an anime adaptation. So it means it came to the end of the story.

I'm curious if A-1 will cover all of it in the anime. The same thing happened with Shigatsu last year, weirdly enough.

Judging from the anime, the story doesn't look like it can go for that long anyway.

They mentioned before that it will adapt the original manga's ending.

I skipped the anime on purpose and was going to start the manga in a couple of days, then saw this announcement on ANN earlier today.

Lucky me.

Story aside, the other work of this mangaka also end with more or less 40 chapters so this is not surprising.

eehh... i know it going to be end, but i don't think it's this fast. also i don't think they will adapt it until finished. compressing 8 volume to 12 episode is crazy.

This is the type of story that would just get tedious if it continued for longer than it needs to, so this is kind of expected.
People on MAL refuse to actually enjoy watching anime.

Your taste in anime isn't a personality trait.

You should probably add that to the main post. I'm predicting there will be many more with that question later otherwise.

I heard episode 1 adapted the whole Volume 1 lol. If you are an anime-only watcher and didn't notice anything wrong with the pace and the story, the director did a great job with the rushed adaptation.

i don't said anything bad, but as many manga reader siad, volume 1 only bunch of build-up which is skipable, or can be show later. when later chapter is not. that's why rest 2-4 episode adapting around 3-5 chapter (around 1/4-1/2 volume).

I'm pretty sure there will be some skipping around after the second half of the show just like Shigatsu. We'll just have to see how good the adaptation is then, hopefully it lives up to the current quality. I'm glad I'm not a manga-reader in this case.

I don't read the manga so I can't really comment on that. I thought they'd be adapting everything in Shigatsu too before but they didn't. Just have to see how they handle that I guess.

Knew this was coming, all of Kei Sanbe's manga are relatively short and don't drag on. He always ends them when they need to, and Boku Dake is clearly near its end.
Though I know the anime will have the same ending as the manga, at the pace the anime is going I'm really worried that they'll rush it near the end...

It's expected though , the manga told it's story and honestly didn't need to do any more than that.
Any person who read the manga up till this point is well aware that it was bound to end within a few chapters.

I was expecting a second arc of the manga, since the plot and character was so good, but I guess the mangaka has better things to do?
(Also the anime differs slightly to the manga and I'm not sure if that's because of time constraints or if they're changing the story up a little)

Fair enough though I think it was pretty obvious that it'd be a few weeks before the anime ending

I agree that it feels "incomplete", there are some questions still unanswered even though the manga is near you know what. And be prepared, this is going to be an assault on feelings, happy or not happy.

Good, this means the mangaka is not trying to milk it. This also does a favor to anime watchers, (if A-1 decides to adapt it fully)

They'll probably do the same thing as they did in episode 1 at some point. And there are plenty scenes to skip.

I take that a sign that its about time to try the manga and not to be surprise if the anime taken the worst route of not extending the number of episodes even it will make the story inconsistent.

It's been confirmed the anime would have the same ending as the manga and now here we know the manga will end before the anime does. So yes, the anime will follow the full story of the manga.
